The Kidnapped Bride - Chapter 504
Chapter 504: Headlines!
The words startled Lucas, whose eyes were all wide. He could feel his body trembling and he immediately got up from the bed. His eyes didn’t tear off from his mother even for a second, finding her complicated expression getting more complexed with time.
“Y-YOu mean to say..Seren died?” he once again asked to confirm, in order to receive a positive nod from Amara, “She jumped off the terrace. H-her body’s found in the morning at the back side of our h–home..”
“Who found it?” Lucas asked and to his dismay, his mother was even more worried about the next answer, “I-It wasn’t someone from us. It swayed someone local. So, this news has spreaded already..”
“SHIT!”
And this was the last thing he wanted.
Seren died, he didn’t care. But the fact that someone else found and the news spread like a fireball had raised his concern already.
Lucas got out of the bed to walk out from his room and got in Seren’s room. He saw that the entire space was a lot clean and there was no one else. “Lucas,I think we should not enter inside right now..”
…..
His mother’s words made Lucas slightly nod his head. A thick frown had curved on his forehead.
But despite that, he walked to the other side of the house, and came down. There, he saw his grandfather sitting in the grand hall. He was all quiet and this trembled his soul.
He didn’t step forward. However, rather faced by his mother to whisper in her ears, “W-what exactly happened?”
Amara took a glance at grandfather Smith before positioning her eyes back to Lucas, “someone saw her body at the back end of our house. And because of that, the man called the police and the news had spread like fire. We haven’t even got the chance to have a look at her body.”
Hearing the detail, made his lips turn into a grim position. He had no idea how to even react to this point. ‘So.. police got the wind already’ that was the last clue he wanted.
But still, he managed to ask, “What’s the narrative that grandfather is trying to create?”
In response to this, Amara passed hima look. She said that Lucas was behaving so calmly. And him being so sure that this news will also subside like others, “How do you know that your grandfather is going to create a narrative? Why be so sure?”
“Because I know him better than myself.” Lucas answered when he passed his hand through his hair and ruffled them “He won’t let the name affect the Smith family’s title. So, tell me now.”
Seeing Lucas being so sure made Amara Gulp the saliva. She straightened up her body where her hands intermingled. She was nervous and didn’t break her gaze from the back of grandfather Smith. “We are trying to say that it was her who took this decision. Which is also true. She was depressed and…”
“…and what about the child? ” Lucas’s question finally made Amara pull her over her face. But this smirk wasn’t a happy one.
It contained sarcasm in them.
Amara directed her head to face Lucas, with the same look, “So you do remember that you had a child in her womb?”
“Answer would be perfect. Is the child alive or dead?” Lucas’s aggregate tone made Amara’s head puncture.
But she moved to give the answer, “Probably died. She had fallen from so high. Do you think the child will survive if she isn’t here?”
Lucas didn’t react much to this. He simply adjusted his night clothes and took steps ahead. coming straight informed of Grandfather, where he saw his sullen mood to which he said, “I know you are unhappy with what happened. But it wasn’t in our hands.” Lucas’s tone gained grandfather Smith’s attention.
Grandfather Smith lifted his chin high to face Lucas, “Are you alright with losing your child?”
In return to this, Lucas puffed his shoulders. He had no answers to give. “Not like I cared about that child. It was your responsibility and you had given her shelter under your home.”
After witnessing the cold response from Lucas, Grandfather Smith understood a few things. He didn’t mutter anything further. Simply regaining his consciousness, he took a deep breath to nod his head. “That’s fine. She had commited a suicide and this wil not go after us as long as there’s no complications in the investigation.”
“I understand.” Lucas agreed.
But their peace was short lived, similar to how they appeared relaxed.
Their butler came forward and noted that all the three major family members were present in the room. He didn’t dare to mutter anything before a single person. Walking to Elder master Smith, the butler had carried a small phone in his hand.
His face was formal as always. But there was a trace of hesitation lingering by.
When he reached the same area, everyone looked at him. The way he reacted and his body language gave the evident signals that there was something he was currently suppressing within himself.
“What is it?” Elder master Smith took the lead to ask, to which the butler took a deep breath to handover the phone, “I think Elder Master smith should read this.”
“Read it for me,Lucas.” grandfather smith instructed and as told, Lucas took the mobile phone from the butler to overview what was written in the article.
While his subtle expressions took drastic change, his eyes bulged all together here, his breath deep and heart jammed inside his ribcage. On noting how rigorous changes took place, even Amara wasn’t able to cope up, “Lucas…”
“Switch on the television right now!” Lucas screamed on the top of his lungs.
While on his command, the butler immediately did the living room television where they saw the news and the headlines that were hitting the sky.
Everyone heard the content of the channel, made Lucas’s face fall and fell even more.. There Was no recovery from the place where he had reached by seeing television photoage.
Amara had cupped her hands on her mouth to not scream, while grandfather Smith’s veins started to trace on his hand as he saw the new photocaged that had ruined their name even more.
‘That’s a…really bad…who has done this?’
