The King of Beast Trainers - Chapter 3 - 3 Contract_1
Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Contract_1
On the street corner, Lu Ran, holding the Black Card, felt his heart pounding rapidly.
Looking at the Black Card, he first felt numbness, then a growing warmth throughout his body.
How is this possible…
No, it might be possible.
Lu Ran remembered the supernatural phenomenon on himself.
This world, indeed, is not so simple.
Beast Trainer?
This profession seems similar to that of an Insect Fighter.
He was very interested.
Due to his parents’ professions, he was extremely interested in anything that involved interacting with animals, from fighting insects to researching ancient creatures…
“Does my awakened superpower have anything to do with this Black Card?”
“Looking at the situation of the person who posted, it seems that more than one person has received the Black Card.”
“It seems that I am not some chosen child after all.”
Then, Lu Ran thought of that strange dream he had, and his expression froze. If there really were extraordinary things in the world, could it have been a premonition dream?
If the events in the dream were to really happen, Blue Star would be destroyed.
Even if the sky falls, there are tall ones to hold it up, but those with ability couldn’t possibly protect everyone everywhere, right?
Thinking of the horrible death in his dream, Lu Ran fell silent, as he was actually quite fond of this world.
“Let’s try to make contact first.”
Lu Ran could not be sure, and could only continue researching the Black Card.
Tip #8: If the Novice Contract Card is not used within 24 hours, the Contract Card will automatically disappear, and the holder will also lose the qualification to become a Beast Trainer.
Through the initial tips that appeared, Lu Ran quickly understood that one could opt out of using the so-called Contract Card, simply by not carrying out the beginner’s task.
“Giving up is impossible.” After a moment of silence, Lu Ran put away the Black Card and took another look at the forum.
Now, having memorized all the tips, Lu Ran wanted to add the poster as a friend to ask for more details.
These tips were indeed crucial, but not enough! He needed more information!
Lu Ran reopened the link full of anticipation.
However, the next moment, Lu Ran was dumbfounded.
“Where’s the post???” He kept tapping the screen.
Lu Ran had just refreshed the page when the post disappeared.
The poster… who was it again? What was the name?
“The admin deleted the post. Who the hell deleted such an important post? Could it have been Fang Lan who reported it just now?”
Standing on the street, Lu Ran felt the air was exceptionally cold.
“I can’t waste time on this.” Soon, Lu Ran changed his target.
With only 24 hours, he needed to do the task as quickly as possible. However, he still needed to keep an eye on the forum, to carry out both tasks simultaneously and avoid missing any important information.
The information he had so far was that, after contracting a Pet Beast, he would be teleported to a dangerous place.
Fortunately, even after going to this dangerous place, there was still a chance to return.
Having played some video games, Lu Ran quickly associated the beginner tasks and trials with the established game mechanisms.
“If I’m to be sent to a dangerous place… the animal I contract must have decent combat ability!”
“Only with that can I avoid ending up like that poster from before…”
Unfortunately, even though Lu Ran wanted to contract a Ferocious Beast, it was wishful thinking to find one with combat ability in a small city within a day.
Even with Psychic Sensing, he wasn’t compatible with every single animal.
Being chased after chatting with stray dogs wasn’t a one-off event either.
Lu Ran analyzed continuously, finally making a decision.
“To be on the safe side, I’ll choose it…”
After making up his mind, Lu Ran planned to go home first, where his target awaited.
His house was not far from there, located in a nearby high-end community, a ten-minute bike ride away.
After some thought, Lu Ran still decided to contract an animal he was familiar with.
At least that one would follow his commands 100%, eliminating the risk of a Pet Beast disobeying in a dangerous place.
Lu Ran hastened his steps.
Before long, he had reached the door to his home.
With the ease of habit, he unlocked it with his fingerprint, and the door opened.
Whew!
Apparently sensing the commotion outside, a figure from inside Lu Ran’s house immediately darted out, pouncing towards Lu Ran as he entered.
“Woof…”
The creature, resembling a wolf in appearance, leaped at Lu Ran, immediately sticking out its tongue, panting as if expecting something.
This creature’s form was elegant, covered with a thick coat of fur, with erect ears, a brush-like tail, a pair of blue eyes, and three white marks on its forehead that looked like three flaming embers.
It was none other than an Arctic Dog Husky, commonly known as the Husky, the pet dog of the Lu Ran household.
Because it was raised by Lu Ran from a young age, the Husky had a very good relationship with him and, after being trained by Lu Ran, it could perfectly follow his commands and carry out various actions, its execution better than a police dog’s.
“Go, Mr. Husky, go stand in the corner as a punishment,” Lu Ran commanded.
“Woof???”
The Husky had a bemused expression!
Although clueless, faced with Lu Ran’s command, the Husky turned its head in dismay, but this grudge, it had noted!
As Lu Ran watched the Husky stand majestically in the corner, he too took a seat opposite it, watching it seriously.
This Husky…
was picked up by Lu Ran after he acquired his superpower when it was still a puppy.
Lu Ran couldn’t be sure if it had been abandoned or had snuck out on its own.
The reason he picked it up was because at the time, Lu Ran’s superpower had become quite adept, yet he still couldn’t communicate normally with this fellow.
Theoretically, with his abilities at the time, simple communication with relatively intelligent animals like cats and dogs shouldn’t have been too difficult…
But this guy, just like it was missing a beat in its brain.
To practice his superpower and also out of concern that such a young pup wouldn’t survive on its own outside, possibly ending up as dog meat, Lu Ran took it home.
And adopting this Husky marked the beginning of Lu Ran’s hellish lifestyle; this fellow… had an incredibly unstable personality.
Even with Psychic Sensing, it took a long time for Lu Ran to tame it.
Initially very aggressive and belligerent, it only became tame after Lu Ran’s training.
In short, it was quite quirky, seemingly having inherited a Husky’s intellectual shortcomings and retained the wolfish ferocity of its lineage.
Lu Ran felt its personality was somewhat similar to that of Ya Zi, the second son of the nine dragons in legends…
The ancient history books record that Ya Zi was bloodthirsty and belligerent, extremely vengeful over the smallest grievance, and always had its mouth on a sword, fierce in appearance, carved on knife rings and sword hilts to empower itself.
Like Ya Zi, it also enjoyed fighting and held grudges, but unlike Ya Zi, it would forget those grudges after a nap, mainly due to its good-natured temperament.
Of course, it had its merits; once it understood that Lu Ran was its benefactor who saved it, it was obedient to Lu Ran, at least it wasn’t an ungrateful cur.
“Mr. Husky.”
Lu Ran sat on the couch, staring at the punishment-facing Mr. Husky, somewhat unsure of where to begin.
Mr. Husky, the nickname Lu Ran had given it because as a pup, it was extremely domineering, like a tyrannical doggie CEO.
And Mr. Husky referred to Lu Ran as “Boss Lu.”
“It’s complicated.”
According to the Black Card’s hint, when a Beast Trainer and a Pet Beast form a contract, both parties would undergo different degrees of evolution.
A Beast Trainer would become a superhuman, and a contracted pet beast, no matter how weak it was before, would gain Mighty Beast Power!
Clearly, this Black Card granted its holder an extraordinary path of evolution!
Lu Ran didn’t know whether choosing this path for him and Mr. Husky would be good or bad…
“Woof!!!” Mr. Husky tilted its head and stared with its blue eyes at Boss Lu, puzzled by his indecisive behavior.
“Forget it, it’s no use discussing this with you; you wouldn’t understand with your intellect anyway.” Lu Ran laughed, then his expression became serious again. Better to proceed with the contract first, and talk later.
Although just a dog, Lu Ran trusted Mr. Husky’s combat ability; after all, it was trained by him, a Superpower Expert.
Moreover, it was the animal with which he had the deepest bond at this point… He really might not trust entrusting his life and death to any other pet beast.
Most importantly, Mr. Husky was a battle enthusiast; there was no need to worry about it adapting to fighting enemies. It was simply the best choice available at the moment.
Lu Ran took out the Black Card and flicked it. The next moment, the glowing Black Card swiftly flew towards Mr. Husky. As the Black Card neared Mr. Husky, the white glow intensified, leaving Mr. Husky dumbstruck and scared enough to turn tail and run. However, the dazzling light quickly enveloped it!
