The King’s Mandate: Anomalous System - Chapter 405
Das waved his hand and said, “No, no, no. I am not as petty as you.”
Elena furrowed her eyes and squinted them, saying, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I am talking about yesterday. You ran away just because I said something. Seriously, I was so worried thinking you might hate me now.”
“…!”
‘He was worried?!’
“And then when I ran after you, I couldn’t find you.” He sighed and said, “I had no idea you were so fast at running..”
“I am pretty fast at running, but if you are talking about yesterday, then I just walked home like I always do.”
“Hah? What are you talking about? I ran after you just after you left, and I couldn’t–”
Elena raised her hand and said, “I went to the washroom.”
Das blankly stared at Elena as his face slowly twitched and said, “How dare you fool me.”
“I didn’t do anything. It’s more like you fooled yourself”
Das gulped down his anger and closed his eyes, “Even so, you did run away after that.”
“You promised you would never make fun of me again.”
“I am not making fun of you. I am being serious here.”
Elena nudged her index finger on Das’ chest and said, “What about you then?”
“What about me?”
“You also ran away many times.”
“That’s because you kept making me angry.”
“Who ran away because they got angry?”
‘No one does! But if I can’t control my anger, then I might get violent, you know?’
Das quietly sighed and said, “I did that for your own good.”
Elena clicked her tongue and said, “Why are we standing here? Let’s go sit and begin our class.”
“You are awfully in the mood of studying today.” Das gasped and said, “Could it be that you are–”
“No. I am Elena.”
“Wow. You actually knew what I was going to ask”
Elena smirked and said, “You are so easy to read.”
Das then moved his gaze towards Elena’s chest and said, “Yeah, you are Elena.”
Elena swung her hand at Das’ face.
Das barely dodged it.
He jumped back and caught his breath as he said, “What the hell?”
‘I barely dodge it. If she was a little more faster, or if I was a little less slow…’, Das wiped the sweat from his forehead as he continued, ‘Then I might be on the other side of the room now.’
Elena was still staring at the same spot with her hand still on the air.
She averted her gaze from Das as she started trembling, and her eyes got teary.
Her face flushed as she looked at Das and said, “It’s your fault.”
“No, no, no. How is that even my fault? You punched me out of nowhere, and I barely dodged it. Who do you think I am? An idiot? Your punch bag?”
She whistled and said, “The thing is, I can’t control myself when I get angry.”
Das looked at Elena with a disgusted face and said, “Don’t copy me.”
“It only happens sometimes. I even punch my dad every time. I really can’t help it.”
‘I pity her father.’
“What do you mean you can’t help it? You will punch anyone if you can’t help it?”
Elena shook her head and said, “I don’t usually get angry.”
Das jogged up his memories and said, “I can make a hundred-page list of every time you got angry at me.”
Elena’s face twitched as he said, “That’s because you always make fun of me.”
Das shrugged his shoulders as he said, “I only speak the truth.”
“Enough!” Elena sharpened her glare at Das and said, “One more taunt, and you are becoming my slave.”
“…”
‘I just don’t understand her. For a moment, she is in a good mood, and in the next moment, she gets all serious.’
“I can’t tell you are being serious or not.”
Elena folded her arms and said, “I am always serious.”
Das snickered as he thought, ‘She is not serious.’
Elena’s eyes frowned as he said, “What’s with that snicker?”
Das slowly stepped back and said, “Nothing.”
Elena stepped forward as he squinted her eyes and said, “You still haven’t said sorry to me for pushing me down in the elevator during lunch break.”
“Do you want me to do it again and take your phone away so I can delete that recording?”
Elena held her bag tightly and said, “How can you push a girl down like that. I am sure Sam misunderstood it.”
Das raised his eyebrows and said, “Sam?”
“Samuel”
“I know that! I am asking why are you calling him Sam? He is your teacher.”
“He is your teacher too.”
‘I don’t respect those who are inferior to me.’
Elena’s breath hitched her throat as she heard that.
She gulped down and said, “I call him Sam because he is a good friend of my parents.”
“Mine’s too. But why do you call him Sam? Isn’t that like a nickname?”
“Well… my parent’s call him that”
“I am asking why do ‘you’ call him that?”
Elena gulped down as she thought, ‘What’s with this atmosphere? He suddenly sounds so angry and looks so scary.’
“He always comes to my house once in a while. He also came there two days ago.”
“So?”
“So… I don’t know,” Elena muttered.
“Stop calling people with nicknames.”
“Why?” she asked in a low voice.
“It makes me angry.”
‘Is he… jealous?’, Elena thought as she said, “But I call my sister ‘Sely’ too”
“Girls are fine, but don’t call males with their nicknames.”
‘Is he really jealous? I should be happy that he is jealous, but all I am feeling right now is scaredness.’
“Okay. I won’t.”
“Good”
‘The serious atmosphere vanished.’
“And I am sorry for pushing you down. I shouldn’t have done that”
“…”
“What?”
Elena shook her head as he said, “Nothing. I am just surprised you apologize even though you said you won’t ever apologize again.”
Das turned his face to the other side and blushed as he said, “I am not a jerk. I apologize when it’s my fault.”
“Aww, you are blushing. So cute”
“I am not blushing!”
“Tch!” Elena clicked her tongue as he kicked the floor and said, “I should have captured a photo.”
“If you had, your phone would have been in a million pieces by now.”
“I would have uploaded that picture to my cloud before you could break my phone.”
“I would have to hack your cloud account and delete everything, including all your personal files.”
“Heh!” Elena flicked her hair and said, “You will never ever be able to unlock my phone, let alone hack my cloud account.”
‘I already have! Though if I say that, she will kill me.’
“Anyway, where did you run off after the last class? I thought you ran away again like yesterday.”
“Well,” Her face flushed as she said, “It was very embarrassing, but I don’t mind if it’s you.”
‘What is she talking about?’
“I am asking where did you run off after–”
“I was in the washroom!”
“Why are you suddenly angry?”
“Because you are so dense!”
“Excuse me?”
“No! I don’t want to excuse you.”
‘I really can’t understand her.’
“Now, can we study?! We have exams next week, right?” questioned Elena.
“Ye..ah.”
‘She is scaring me. And how come she is so excited about studying?’
Das walked to the desk and sat on his chair.
Elena folded her arms and kept staring at him.
“What?”
“Why did you break my chair?”
“Why do you think it was me?”
“Maybe you broke it because I ran away?” She slammed her hands on the desk and said, “Like how you broke that desk in our classroom.”
“That was just…wait. How do you know I broke the desk?”
Elena froze as soon as Das asked that.
‘Right. I forgot he doesn’t remember anything.’
She gulped down as she thought, ‘What should I do now?’
“Are you listening to me? How do you know–”
“When I came the next day, it was broken, and the last person to leave the room was you.”
“So you are currently accusing me of breaking your chair on that stupid biases of yours?”
“You didn’t break my chair?”
“You don’t believe me?”
“It’s not like I don’t believe you, but if you have done it, then you can just say it. I promise I won’t get angry.”
“I said I didn’t do it, you idiot!” Das growled.
“Really?”
Das made a sad face and said, “I had no idea you trust me this little. I am so sad.”
“Hey.. don’t say that. I was just–”
Click~!
“Heh!” Das smirked and said, “Got you.”
“Wha–!”
Das captured the photo of Elena’s panicked face.
“You are so easy,” Das remarked.
Elena’s worried face turned frowned. “I seriously thought you were hurt by that comment.”
“I was indeed hurt. But I couldn’t care less about what others think of me. I am used to that.”
Tears fell down from Elena’s eyes as she said, “So I am no different than other people for you?”
“Why are you crying?!” Das got up as he tried to wipe Elena’s face.
“Don’t cry.”
Elena took out her phone and captured his photo.
Das froze as he realized he just got pranked, and he was now making an interesting face.
He was indeed angry, but he was still worried because he thought he made Elena cry. Not only that, he wants to curse himself for letting his guard down. And he was kind of relieved that he didn’t actually make her cry. And on top of that, he wanted to laugh because of how he just got pranked.
Elena once again clicked the picture.
“You were making an interesting face, so I clicked it again.”
