The King’s Mandate: Anomalous System - Chapter 416
“Street food.”
Das froze for some seconds and uttered, “Let’s go home.”
“Why? I really have the money.”
“That’s not the problem here. There is no way I am eating at street stalls.”
“Why not?”
“That’s suicide! You don’t eat street foods.”
“Why? They are tasty.”
Das gasped as he said, “You have eaten there before?”
“Yeah?”
“How are you alive?”
Elena squinted her eyes and said, “You are overreacting.”
“Still, why do you eat there? Your parents are lawyers, right? They must earn a lot, right?”
Elena nodded.
“Then why don’t you–” Das gasped and said, “Don’t tell me, they don’t give you any pocket money?!”
“No, they do. They give me one thousand every month.”
“Then why don’t you–”
Elena made a face that has was seeing since the first day they met.
Das raised his eyebrows and said, “You used up all the money on something, didn’t you?”
Elena quietly nodded.
Das facepalmed himself and said, “On what?”
Elena muttered something in a low voice.
“What was that?”
“I had saved up twenty thousand.”
“And?”
“I bought games.”
Das stared blackly into Elena’s eyes and asked, “Do your parents know about this?”
Elena violently shook her head.
Das stare got more intense as he said, “Give me your parents’ contact information, please.”
Elena looked up at Das with teary eyes and said, “You are going to tell them?”
‘Dammit! That face is not fair.’
“Of course, I will. We have exams starting next week, and you are buying games.”
“But I bought them last month.”
“Nevermind. I will ask mom about your parents’ contact information.”
Elena’s eyes got more teary, and she said, “You promised you would act nice to me.”
“…”
‘Dammit! Dammit! Why is she so cute—! What? Cute?’
All the passersby couldn’t help but glance at Das and Elena.
Das sighed and said, “Fine. I won’t tell them, but please stop wasting your life, time, and monies on games.”
“I will try.”
“Alright,” Das walked forward, saying, “Now let’s go home.”
“Wait a minute. We are not going home.”
Das turned around and said, “Why don’t you understand, Elena? Street foods are very bad for your health. We don’t know what type of ingredient they use. It’s bad for hygiene.”
“They are not. They are delicious, and they make sure to wear gloves too.”
“Wearing gloves doesn’t make it okay.”
“They use good ingredients too!”
Das took a deep breath and sighed, thinking, ‘What am I going to do with her?’
‘As stubborn as she is, she won’t listen to me.’
‘I have to find a good reason to stop her.’
“Elena, do you know why five-star hotels’ foods are always delicious?”
“Because they have professional chefs and use top-class ingredients?”
“So you understand it after all” He grabbed Elena’s shoulder and said, “And why are the low star hotels’ food are not as delicious as the high star hotels?”
“Because they don’t use top-class ingredients?”
“Exactly! And street foods are worse than that.”
Elena sighed and said, “Okay fine.”
“Nice!”
“How about you come with me once and taste them yourself?”
‘Dammit!’
“Even if I want to, my mom will get angry.”
“…”
“You have no idea how much she hates hotels’ food. And if I tell her I ate street food, she will kill me.”
“…” Elena was staring at him.
“So let’s go–”
“I already got her permission to take you there.”
“…” all colors faded from Das’ face.
“Are you serious?” He asked.
Elena nodded.
“Fine. Let’s go.”
Elena’s face cheered up as they started walking.
AS they were walking, Elena kept glancing at Das.
‘I can’t believe I am going on an after school date with Das’
She wasn’t wrong, but she wasn’t right either.
As they were walking, Das suddenly covered his ears and closed his eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Elena asked.
“It’s… rush hour.”
Hundreds of peoples were walking around.
“Yeah, it is. But why are you…!”
Elena remembered what Das had told her.
‘I am bad with peoples. I don’t like crowded places’
Now, even Elena was freaking out.
She didn’t know what to do.
Unconsciously, Das grabbed Elena’s hand.
Elena jolted, but when she looked at Das, she gave a bitter smile and said, “I will hold your hand. Can you walk?”
Das squeezed Elena’s hand and started walking.
Das was looking down as he was walking, and Elena was keeping her eyes on the road.
Elena bit her lips and thought, ‘I am the worst.’
‘I am really the worst.’
‘I am the worst of the worst.’
‘Das is in so much pain here, and here I am enjoying this. Because I am holding hands with him.’
‘He would hate me for sure if he sees the real me.’
After walking for around fifteen minutes, they were finally on the other street where the crowd was sparse.
Even though Das was feeling fine now, Elena didn’t let go of Das’ hand. Das also didn’t let go of Elena’s hand.
‘Dammit!’
‘I feel so embarrassed now.’
‘I showed Elena my uncool side.’
‘She must be thinking I am pathetic.’
‘Dammit. Dammit. Dammit! Dammit, all!’
When they reached the street food area, it was packed with all types of people.
Elena pulled Das’ hand and said, “Will you be okay?”
“Yeah, this much should be fine. And besides…” Das glanced at Elena.
“Besides?”
“Nevermind”
“Come on! Don’t do that.”
“It’s nothing.”
“Tell me.”
Das sighed as he said, “Fine.”
He scratched his cheek and averted his gaze as he said, “You are here with me, so I will be okay.”
Elena’s face flushed as she muttered, “Don’t say it like that idiot. I will misunderstand and get my hopes high again.”
“So?” Das glanced around and said, “There are too many stalls. Which one is the most famous?”
“There is nothing like famous here.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah,” Elena started running while pulling Das’ hand.
“Where are we going?”
“I will take you to my favorite stall.”
“…”
‘She is tough to deal with.’
