The Kings Power - 53 Things aren't always as they seem, part 1

Previously on The Kings Power:
*”Damn, that boss. His head is too much in the clouds to be relied on.” Another one said. He pulled out a knife from his pocket, “guess we will have to take care of her. Go. Inform the boss that she is here, he is in the other room.”*
—-
*”N-Nate…?” Snow released all her powers, making him fall to the ground. Only when she said his name, did he open his eyes. Snow took a step back, it felt like someone punched her in the stomach.*
—
*”You’re right. I didn’t tell you who I was, but neither did you. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to look at me differently. Everybody already looks at me like I’m a thief, but when you didn’t I, couldn’t bring myself to tell you.”*
—-
*”Look, Nate, it’s getting late. I think I’m going to go back to the castle, please don’t follow me.” Snow told him, she put the hood back on her head and jumped on the nearest building, from there she headed toward the castle.

*”You use your energy to conjure your powers. When you don’t have enough energy, your powers have a weak effect, or no affect at all, in other words, you can’t even use a simple technique to defeat your opponent. That’s why you need to fulfill your energy through eating or sleeping. It depends on the person, some people sleep, others like you, eat, some even uses pills to stock up their energy, but that is not very healthy or good for your body.” Noctis explained*
—-
*Have you been seeing him?” Noctis stood up, resting his hands on the table and glaring down at Snow.
“I-I…” Damn it. Now he is going to figure it out, and I didn’t want to tell him this way, I would have preferred not to tell him at all, right now.
“So you have been seeing him.” Noctis stood up straight, “have you slept with him too?”
Snow could hear he was trying to control his anger, and it’s understandable, but what he just said was unacceptable.
“How dare you insinuate that I slept with him.” Snow’s voice sounded different somehow, echo’s followed as she talked. Her voice sounded deeper. All around them things started to float. Blue and red energy began to rise above them. Each trying to gain the upper hand in the room.
“We only kissed! That is all!” Snow yelled, her red energy began to over take his blue energy, lifting everything to the roof. Snow felt so much energy within her, but it also feels like she is slowly losing control.*
—-
*”How many times have I told you not to test her? She is not someone you should mess with, especially when she gets that angry!” The King raised his voice. Noctis understood what his father said, he did warn him, countless times.*

Present:
Snow woke up the next morning. Dread filled her stomach thinking about what happened the night before. She can’t believe Noctis said that. Snow sighed before climbing out of bed. She got dressed and headed down for breakfast. When she got there she saw that Noctis and the King was already seated. Luckily Noctis sat on the other side of the table while the king sat at the head. Snow took her place at the table in silence avoiding Noctis.
The King must have sensed the awkwardness in the room because he tried to lighten the room with small talk.
“Did you sleep well, Snow?”
“I did, thank you your majesty for asking.”
The king nodded with a small smile on his face, “it is my pleasure, Snow.”
“And you, my son? Did you sleep alright?”
“I slept fine, father.” Noctis didn’t look up, instead he kept playing with his spoon.
The King sighed and then they waited in silence for their breakfast.
When it arrived they began eating without a word. The scraping of spoons against the foodbowls was the only sound you could hear in the dining room. When they finished, the servants took away their dishes. Snow was about to excuse herself from the table when the King stopped her.

“Snow, wait. This… atmosphere in this house will not be tolerable. I will not live like this in my own home! So I have decided that we will have dinner tomorrow night, and both of you will attend.”
“But father-” Noctis began, but was quickly interrupted.
“I don’t want to hear it. This is not up for discussion, Noctis. You two will make peace, even if we have to sit here all night, this atmosphere will be no more!” The king glared at him, daring him to speak. When no one did, he stood up and walked out of the room.
He can still demand respect in the room, even after all these years. Snow looked at him in awe, before she too stood up and got out of the room. She didn’t spare Noctis a single glance.
Snow entered her room and went to her drawer. She took out her workout clothes, and as she turned she heard a tap against the window.
“Nate?” Snow’s expression grew darker as she opened the balcony window.
“What are you doing here?” Snow crossed her arms over her chest.
“Please Snow, just let me explain.”
“Look Nate, I’m not in the mood for this, and I’m going to the training room to train, so please go.” Snow turned to leave, but was stopped when Nate grabbed her arm, forcing her to face him. He wasn’t forceful, in fact his touch was gentle, spreading warmth throughout Snow’s body. Only then did she realise how much she missed his touch.
“Snow please. Please just let me explain, if you still feel the same afterward, I will then leave you alone.”
Snow felt conflicted emotions. She really wanted to hear him out, but she didn’t want to get hurt again, because that seems to happen a lot lately.
“Alright, I give you one minute.” Snow relented. Nate smiled gratefully, he stretched out his hand, willing her to take it.
“What are you doing?”
“Well, I told you I’m going to explain, but you will have to come with me if I’m going to do that.”
Snow carefully took his hand and he immediately pulled her close, snaking his arm around her waist.
“Damn it feels good to have you close again.” Nate looked Snow in the eyes.
Snow admit it did feel good to be in his arms. She rested one hand on his chest, looking deep into his eyes. His ocean blue eyes. All her anger and hurt vanished away. She felt safe in his arms, like she never wanted to leave. She looked down at his lips, it’s a light red colour, she noticed. It was like gravity pulled them together. She felt his lips on hers, crashing together. Their kiss was deep, and passionate. Snow flung her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss even more, Nate held her tightly against him, like there was no tomorrow. When they finally broke apart, their breathing was ragged.
“Forgave me that quickly, Princess? Or did you miss me that much?” Nate smirked down at her.
“You jerk! I have not forgave you yet. You still need to show me why you lied.” Snow swat his chest, trying to get out of his grip, but he would not let go.
“It won’t help trying to pry yourself out of my grip, because I’m never letting you go again.” Nate whispered in a gruffly manner. Any argument Snow had was then immediately washed away.
“And I never want you to let me go.” Snow rested her head against his chest, sighing inwardly. I am where I’m supposed to be, she thought.
“Now come on, even if you have forgive me, I still need to show you this.” Nate turned around and picked Snow up on his back, all in one swift movement.
Snow laughed and looped her arms around his neck.
“You know I can jump further across the rooftops than you right?”
“Ha! Please, I’d like to see you try.” Nate looked back at Snow, a smirk on his face.
“I already did!” Snow laughed.
“No. No. I let you win there, but just this once, can you take us to the next roof?” Nate scratched his head in embarassment, making Snow laugh.
“Of course. Hold on.”
