The Lady Of The Future - Chapter 10
The f*ck?
Louis met a huge pile of trash (A/N: or so it appears to him). It was so huge it almost covered the way downstairs. He saw a slight opening in a corner and hurriedly grabbed the opportunity to get out of the situation. Louis endured the pain and pushed himself out of the tiny corner. When he came out, he saw a bunch of items flying out from Alfina’s lab.
*tink, tink, pak, tink*
‘What the hell is she doing?’
In order for him to get inside of Alfina’s lab, he had to dig out some items from the door. At first, he felt helpless, as the items kept on falling from the top and covering the opening. Due to his persistence, he managed to climb up instead and go through space where the items escape and flew through the living room.
“Alfina! Are you in there?!” Louis continuously shouted.
But the person he’s calling out had noise-canceling headphones covering her ears. No matter how hard Louis called out he couldn’t get an answer. He then decided to descend the trash mountain and save the baby. But that baby aka his little sister was having fun murmuring on her own, sorting out her bunch of items and emptying out her lab.
Angrily, he hit her sister hard with a paper fan (A/N: Where did you get that?).
*whack!*
“Atta….sss” Alfina held her head, putting pressure on her fingers while at it.
Her eyes were bloodshot and turn around to look at who hit her. What she saw was her second brother, looking at her, dangerously. Her lips had blood traces as she accidentally bit her tongue.
“Ar dih yu du hat?” (Trans: Why did you do that?) Alfina thought that she was wronged. She hasn’t done anything to be hit.
But her brother didn’t say anything and just pointed the paper fan in a certain direction. Alfina was puzzled but she still looked at that direction it was pointing. What she saw was her items, stack pile on the entrance of the lab.
“Eh?” Alfina unconsciously said.
Louis put his hands on Alfina’s head. Instead of patting her, he put pressure on his head and gnashing his teeth while saying, “You look at that little sister. Are you planning on bringing your whole house in the palace?!”
“Ita-ta-ta-ta,” Alfina protected her head while answering, “I was sorting them. I didn’t mean to pile them up like this.”
Louis couldn’t help but shout, “Sorting? You’re sorting?! Ha? See that? That’s you’re whole lab items there! Don’t think that you could bring them all with you.”
“But-” Alfina tried to plead.
“Go get your clothes. We’re going now.” Louis decided.
Alfina just sighed and packed some of her lab instruments to go with her. The moment Louis opened the door, Alfina thought, ‘This might be the first time I looked at this place properly.’
*whistles*
Louis whistled and the sounds of air dust could be heard. An AI Horse came with a cloud floating behind him. It was a cloud carriage that only the royals or nobles have.
“Come on and sit.” Louis reached out to Alfina to help her get on. But then she turned around and forcefully pulled something out of the door. It took a lot of force and made Louis puzzled for a moment. After getting out, Louis saw a huge storage cloud.
“You. What is this?” Louis asked.
“My things.” Alfina simply answered.
“I know it’s your things but why is it that big?!”
“I…” Alfina looked at another direction, “I put a lot of my instruments there…” she answered softly.
Louis was going insane and finally give up seeing that he had no rebuttal to say, “Okay. You connect that to the magnet puller behind the cloud carriage.
With that, they went on a journey… still silent. No one wants to talk and so they just sleep.
Another morning came, the sun had yet to rise, Alfina already awoke. She looked at the clouds and the sun rays being mixed together. Alfina looked at the world clearly this time.
‘It was as said in Alfonso’s diary…’ Alfina thought.
According to mortal history, technology came from the research and hard work of many people throughout history. That’s also what Alfonso was going for or hoping for. But it looks to Alfina that he had failed one thing to realize.
Irah had double the lifespan to that of a mortal. They depend on the fact that they were confident of their survival. Especially now that they’re away from the hands of the mortals. That was the part that Alfonso Hyde failed to make them realize.
Alfonso created this world to work at his convenience. For his own satisfaction, he discovered many things. This wasn’t something that he created for others. And others worshipped him and his works. Which wasn’t really a nice thing to do. If one would just waste their brains to do something that others had already done, then what was their reason of existence? Just to live, give birth, work, and die?
Feelings were really a great disturbance to a race’s survival. Why else did the mortals have a long history of researches continually being discovered? Why would mortals try hard to find the remnants of the history were great minds left their research if they don’t have the hope for a better life?
‘Ah, right, hope is the right term’
Irah had long been satisfied with this medieval situation, re-created by high-tech technology, that they don’t want to change anything. That’s how stupidly smart they were. They cause trouble for the others, for their own satisfaction but they couldn’t do anything for their own artificial world.
Looking at the bunch of soft and fluffy looking clouds, Alfina stared lifelessly.
“It was said that buildings in the mortals are solid, made in concrete and metal. All kinds of minerals could be used. But why did Azure remained a soft-looking cloud? The clouds could be solidified with Alfonso’s technology, but why does it have to remain like this? Just clouds…” aesthetically speaking, there’s nothing wrong with the Clouds as it could also mortals passing by in the air, concealing the Azure Realm. But it is inconceivable for Alfina that it didn’t even change after years and years of existence.
Louis half-asleep heard her and said, “…stupid.”
Alfina’s lips couldn’t help but twitch, ‘Okay then, I’m the stupid one.’
