The Lady Of The Future - Chapter 3

A head maid hurriedly ran in the hallway. She was seen by many co-workers and was worried at what was happening. Upon reaching the destination, without saying any courtesy or any etiquette, she slammed open the door.

Everyone inside looked at her. Not minding everyone’s stare, she shouted, “THE PRINCESS SUCCEEDED!”

The King, Alfina’s Royal Father, stood up instantly and dragged the head maid to led him to the mansion of Princess Alfina, Enclave. Upon reaching the Alfina’s lab, all they saw was the reproducing soil with a bit of cloud bound to them.

The King touched the soil. It was rich enough to nurture crops fast and nutritious. He couldn’t help but stare at Alfina who was staring back blankly and irritated even.

Helpless, the King ordered, “We’ll talk about it later, Alfina. Call the Prime Minister in my office.”

The King immediately called the Prime Minister to deal with the aftermath. But when the Queen heard of it, she fainted. Her worst nightmares were about to unfold. The wing uncut would finally lose its control and rebel. Rather than be saved, they would be killed in the long term.

Unsurprisingly, The Queen locked up herself inside her room, not leaving an inch outside. When her Eldest Brother, Elvin Christian y Sila, heard of this news he had the same reaction as their father. Elvin immediately went to their Royal Father’s office to help.

On the way, Prince Elvin met the Second Prince, Louis Han y Sila. From the looks of him, he hadn’t heard of the news. While no one was talking, gossiping maids talked loud enough to be heard by them.

“I heard that the Princess created a miracle.” -Maid 1

“Yeah. Do you think history was true after all?” – Maid 2

“What do you mean?” – Maid 3

“I read before in history that we’re targeted back in the Mortal Realm as ‘Witch’” – Maid 2

The 2 maids gasped.

“But why is it that the Princess was the only one showing these signs?” the Maid 1 curiously asked.

“We don’t know. Maybe we will know in time when the princess showed more of her powers.” Maid 2 excitedly said.

And they gossip about other things after a while. But the 2 Princes that heard of it had blackface. The Eldest Prince was about to say something to his brother when he…

“Looks like the monster showed its true colors ah?” Louis sneered and look at his Older brother Elvin.

Elvin felt like he would have a headache talking to his brother. But before he left he said something to remind him, “There’s a fine line between a magician and a scientist. That also applies to a genius and a monster. Just saying.”

After seeing the fading figure of Elvin, Louis lowered his head while murmuring, “Why can’t she be normal instead? Why?”

2 weeks after, Alfina was called in to be awarded. She went into the Audience Hall of the Palace like it was normal. Indifferent to the numerous people inside, she walked calm and collective. Alfina observed the surroundings and saw her Royal Mother finally came out of her shelter.

Though she was fine to come out, it was obvious to her red eyes that she wasn’t fine at all. She’s been crying for God knows how long. Staring at Alfina, she had an urge to cry again. Alfina just ignored it like she didn’t see it in the first place and kneel down in front of her Royal Father. Her Royal Father was conflicted.

“It was a good day for us all, Irah. We are blessed by our ancestors as another genius came to light. It was a fortune to our Empyrean Royal Family to be the one blessed by its presence. Here before us, Alfina Eve y Sila, Princess of Empyrean Empire of Azure Realm, devoted her young bones and a few of her years to discover the reproduction of Cloud Soil. Therefore, as the King of Empyrean Empire, I give to you the title of Empyrean Inventor-Scientist. Along this was the permission to get whatever knowledge the beholder seek. This shall be for the purpose of a savior the kind of Irah. Hereby we declare.”

The long speech told every important person that Alfina shall be given the right to knowledge known to Azure Realm. Shall not be deprived of this right and shall be implored to do its best to save the kind of Irah. It was a big responsibility but when Alfina heard of it, all she could think about was the rights to knowledge. She brushed off the responsibility to save the kind of Irah.

‘With this, I shall be unstoppable.’ Alfina swore to herself.

After the awarding, Alfina was about to go back to Enclave but met her Eldest Brother Prince Elvin on the way.

“Do you feel anything?” Elvin asked plainly.

Alfina shook her head to respond to him.

“I see. Still empty ha?”

Now, Alfina awkwardly replied, “… Yes.”

Elvin couldn’t help but close his eyes while murmuring, “…The price of being a genius ah…” And left the puzzled Alfina. Maybe she would be puzzled about this throughout her whole life…

Afterward, the breathless Second Prince Louis came over to catch up to her, Alfina. He briskly clasped Alfina’s little delicate shoulders. Though it was painful, it wasn’t showing in Alfina’s face. But Prince Louis didn’t have time to bother about her.

He said gnashing his teeth, “Are you satisfied now? Look at mother, are even blind not to see her red eyes. She cried!”

“And then?” Alfina managed to say softly while enduring the pain.

“Then? Then? Are f*cking kidding me?! She’s also your mother! Can’t you feel remorse at defying her will?” Louis frustratingly shouted at her.

Alfina just closed her eyes and slowly said, “You. What do you want really? Me, dying to sincerely express that I’m repenting to my sins?”

Prince Louis couldn’t believe what he heard from her. It was like even Alfina didn’t value her life. Since he could talk reason to him, he left stomping his feet.

While massaging the painful part that Prince Louis grabbed, her father suddenly popped out of nowhere. She was quite indebted to her Royal Father for all the support he’d gave her when she asked them, even if it defies her Royal Mother

After a bit of silence, Her Royal Father said, “This might be my last gift for our little genius daughter eh?” while rummaging her long hair.

“What do you mean father?” Alfina tilted her head while asking.

“Father ah?” Her Royal Father bitterly smiled, “Finally willing to call me that.”

“…errmm…” for the first time, Alfina felt embarrassed.

This time her Royal Father warmly smiled at her saying, “… Your mother and I decided to set you free.”

For some reason, Alfina understood what her Royal Father meant and her eyes inevitably shone brightly. This sight almost made her Royal Father shed a tear. He felt like they restrained this little eagle too much that it seeks freedom so badly to have emotions expressed just for that word. He also regretted so much how he didn’t try much eagerly to get close and know this daughter of his. This might be the real reason why their daughter was cursed by ‘Unfeeling’

Now, its time to spread her wings. Alfina prepared for the tomorrow waiting for her.
