The Lady Of The Future - Chapter 7
“Hep hep hep, where do you think you’re going? Hm?” Louis forcibly pulled back Alfina making her unbalanced, “Sit.” He ordered
Slowly, Alfina sat back on the chair and looked back to Louis, “Err…Do you still have something to say?”
“You tell me right now. As your older brother. How the hell did you know that mom had died?” Louis seriously asked.
Alfina contemplated before asking, “Are you sure you want to know?”
“Yes.”
She took a deep breath before saying, “I’m warning you. It’s a bit gross.”
“Ha?”
“You know mom loves bluebirds right?” Alfina started.
Louis nodded.
“I dissected one.”
“You what?!” Louis inevitably shouted.
“I said I dissected one bluebird. It’s the one in mom’s room.” She explained a bit more in detail.
“You go on.”
Alfina then started remembering that day 2 years ago…
3 years passed by after she left the palace, Alfina finally opened one of her windows nearby her dining. 3 birds land on the window. All of them were bluebirds. Bluebirds were her Roya Mother’s favorite, but they always migrate throughout the whole Azure Realm, whole year-round. It’s a wonder how they came to rest this time in Cloud Side.
While playing and giving them food, she put the birds in one big birdcage. (A/N: What the hell did you buy that for?!) The bird stupidly entered and flew all over their new home while Alfina was filling up their needs inside. It was inevitable not to wonder how her family was doing now that she was gone in the palace.
Then staring at the birds, she had an idea. Not caring which bird she could get, she grabbed one. That bird had a painful expression looking back at Alfina’s emotionless eyes. She didn’t forget to lock the birdcage before she went inside her inner lab. In there, happened.
Alfina left her lab with a bloodied hand. She threw her surgical gloves on the trash can hastily. Seemingly stressed about something. She couldn’t feel it but her actions spoke something more, this just meant that the bird died. She failed at one but that didn’t mean that it could stop her from doing what she wanted.
She went ahead and grab another one from the cage. This time the bunch of birds seemed to smell the blood on her hands was their friends. The birds couldn’t help but panic, they cry and cry for help. But one of them was caught by the Alfina’s hands.
Though their voices couldn’t stop from screaming, Alfina acted like she didn’t hear anything at all. This time the test was a success. Alfina successfully inserted a nano retractable robot that was designed after a hidden camera. To add up, she also implanted a brain wave chip. It was said that the birds could be controlled using whistles. Therefore, this brain wave chip had a simple program script. It was to emit sounds of whistles according to what the owner wanted it to do.
After the bird healed in a few days, Alfina brought it back together with the other surviving bird. The next day, Alfina decided to let the test bluebird fly outside while she remained inside. With her holograph screen, she started to make the nanorobot work which seemed to be fine and even doing better since it didn’t need to be charged at all since it uses solar energy.
The surprising part was that the bird was still alive and kicking. It also didn’t act weird when the mini robot was functioning. Then the time for the brain wave chip to test.
Alfina enter [Glissade]
Looking at the bird, Alfina noticed that the bird was startled at its body moving unconsciously out of its will. Alfina looks like she was fascinated with a new toy because her eyes were sparkling like she found a treasure.
Months after, the bird was already used to it. Alfina used it to communicate with the world and have them deliver things that she could use and want to restock. But then Alfina it wasn’t enough. She then stared at the poor normal blue bird remaining, emotionless. Slowly, Alfina approached the cage and it seemed like it could feel her death was about to come, it was visibly shaking.
But Alfina didn’t care and convert the normal bird the same as the other. This time, her initial intention was going to be fulfilled. This bird flew to the Empyrean Empire like a normally lost bird. When the camera showed her Royal Mother, it descended into her hands.
“Poor bird, are you lost?” Queen Lily smiled sweetly at the bird.
Alfina was startled while watching the camera. She never knew that her Royal Mother could smile like that. Unconsciously, Alfina thought, ‘If you just spare me that one sweet smile, I wouldn’t have left the family.’
Several weeks passed by, Alfina enjoyed watching her family through the bird. Her Eldest Brother and King George even widened their eyes in shock when they saw that the bird wasn’t leaving Royal Mother’s side. Even making her immature second brother be jealous of it.
One night, bathing in the moonlight by the window, her royal mother spoke to the bird, “Life is tiring, don’t you think so?”
Alfina enter a command [Tilt]
The bird’s head tilted as if she could understand what her royal mother was thinking. Queen Lily was surprised and fascinated at this sight. She thought for a bit before she decided to talk.
“I really wished that brat fina was here. Maybe she would’ve been interested in your case. Maybe she could even discover how to make animals talk.” Queen Lily spoke irritated but proud of her daughter.
Alfina couldn’t help but reply behind the screen, “Yup. That’s my mother for you.”
Queen Lily suddenly patted the bird’s head, “Look at the clear sky you flew every day, but don’t you know there’s a book called Astrology? Many fortune tellers, astrologists were made back in the Mortal Realm composed of people studying this. But not many really understood it well.”
“There was a time before, a fortune-teller who came to my maiden house. That person declared that I will only live less than 100 years old or even not reach my 50 years old.” After saying that, for some reason, Alfina slammed her desk unconsciously making everything on it fell on the floor.
Queen Lily paused for a bit, before emotionally saying, “…that person was executed right there and then. That person didn’t even hate us since that person knew that it was her time to die. But that left me curious about why did she say that? Maybe it was just an incident. If its that accurate then why would one need the word ‘destiny’? Therefore, I studied astrology seriously. From superstitions to facts. Then I found out…I’m just walking the road that person had already walked before… that person called me a disciple.”
Queen Lily couldn’t help but bitterly smiled, “… I myself confirmed the truth. I will really die early. Be it an Irah or Mortal, there’s a common fate, Death.” She couldn’t help but tear up when she talked to the bird. Since no one could see her, Queen Lily was so helpless at that time.
For the first time, Alfina also shed a tear.
