The Lady Of The Future - Chapter 9
Louis stared at the sleeping beauty, he called a monster for years and was a blessed genius for the many. He didn’t care about anybody else, but he cared a lot for his family. When Alfina joined in, she was just a baby, an innocent cute baby. As she was growing up, a lot was calling her ‘monster’. A maid once read him a story that monsters had to be killed and so he idiotically believed it since Alfina was vastly different from other children.
He was too stupid to believe it.
But now he saw this happening right before his eyes, he knew he was very wrong. No matter how understanding or how much numb, dull and calm did Alfina feel inside, her body, actions and thought process were that of a normal person(maybe not as much the same, genius mindset is unique). You cannot judge them just because they were ignoring you or something.
‘She’s sick’ The mother once told him that. But it was all too late, what’s done couldn’t be undone. You can only repent.
Louis looked at Alfina’s findings. ‘She even exerted this much time and effort for their mother to survive, while all we had done back at the palace, right there and then, was watch and call some doctors. We don’t even know what mother was suffering. But this sister of him, who was so far away, knew and tried to find a solution. But her effort was wasted, for the person, she wanted to save had already passed away.’
Louis absorbed everything that he had learned from Alfina. It seemed that Alfina dissected a bird…
‘Wait, a bird? Isn’t that the bird whose mom always talks to?’
When looking at the surroundings, he found a holographic screen. Slowly Louis got away from Alfina. He then went to the carelessly open screen. He opened some apps and saw a weird [Bird Spy]. When he clicked on it, he saw on the screen the room of their Royal Mother. He knew this [Bird 2: ] was the one beside their mother.
Then looking at the gray button, [Bird 1: ], he clicked on it and instantly it activated and the screen was showing the lab room of Alfina. Louis busily clicked here and there, not knowing that someone just has woken up. Half asleep, Alfina approached Louis, unconsciously not making a sound. After arriving on his back, she leaned down and whispered on his ears…
“What are you doing?” She said softly.
*Bag*
Louis fell on the chair. He looked shocked stricken. He shouted while pointing at her, “W-w-w-what are you doing!”
“I should be the one asking you that.” Alfina nonchalantly replied while rubbing her eyes and look at the screen. “Oh. I remember what I was going to ask you.”
Louis recomposed himself, “I should be asking, why are you spying on your own family? Or, why don’t you come home instead? But, whatever, what do you want to ask?”
Alfina felt obligated to answer, “I’m not spying the family. I tested the product and succeeded but I failed to remind myself to install a microphone and speaker mechanism. I just recently succeeded in installing one. And I won’t come back home. If I were there I probably won’t even succeed in procuring the cure for mother.”
“Err…” Louis knew that geniuses had their own quirks, so Alfina has a point. “What are you going to ask?”
For a moment, Alfina blanked out, she then replied, “Somehow, I forgot.”
“You- What? Forgot? Even you, can forget something?” Louis sarcastically said.
“Biologically, I’m still a human being, just that I’m an Irah. We’re not that different from each other.” Alfina answered him.
Louis suddenly remembered something, “Hey, father asked me to dragged you back home.”
“Oh, that’s right!” Alfina finally remembered, “I was wondering if you just came here to deliver the message which I very much doubt.”
Louis’s lips couldn’t help but twitch, “So?”
“I’m…” Alfina hesitated. Suddenly she remembered the moment when her Royal Mother called unto her in her last breath. “…I’m going with you.” Thinking for the sake of solving the mystery, Alfina decided to come back with his brother.
“Good!” Louis was delighted. “Let’s take a break for today and go out tomorrow.” He decided.
Alfina looked at the window, she saw the sun setting and lighting up the clouds in different colors. She thought about how she would go out tomorrow and slowly asked her brother, “Are we really going tomorrow? Outside?”
“Yes.” Louis instantly replied. Finding it weird he thought and immediately said, “You can’t go back on your words. You could even come here, then why can’t you go out? Not like you won’t come back here anymore!”
Alfina secretly thought, ‘I did come in here all alone at that, but I wonder ‘when’ could I come back. From the tone of the words reiterated by second brother. There’s a possibility that Royal Father won’t approve of my return to Cloud Side.’
Thinking about her choices, Alfina chose the path where she could adapt easily. She ignored her second brother threatening her with ridiculous words and went to her lab.
*Bang!*
The door slammed and Louis couldn’t help but say, “Oy! You better come out of there tomorrow, else I would demolish this mansion! Just so you know I’m capable of that! Alfina! Are you listening to me?!”
*ping!*
The sound effects of the do not disturb light was activated. Meaning it would totally soundproof and disturb proof the lab from anything, not even nuke could break into it. Seeing that he was answered like that, Louis couldn’t help but stump his feet while touring himself around the mansion.
Inside the lab, Alfina began to sort her experiments and specimens. Mumbling…
“Right… oh this one, I should carefully put it in here… hmm, maybe not this… well, I could use it…” Continuously like a chanting evil witch.
Morning came, Louis was descending from the stairs, yawning. When he bumped into something…
“Oh I’m sorry I’m sorry!” Closed eyes he seeks apologies.
‘Hm?’ Louis thought something was wrong, though he couldn’t see it, he could feel it… like it was a metal…
Slowly, he opened his eyes…
His eyes opened wide at the sight. His mouth slowly open agape. Before he shouted…
“WHAT THE F*CK!”
