The Last Survivor - Chapter 123
In a rather bright office room, a dwarf was seated at a metallic-stone desk, flipping through some documents.
*Knock**Knock*
“Come in”
The two doors made from stone were pushed aside and an old dwarf walked in with hurried footsteps and slightly bowed his head to the one on the desk, which seemed less like a bow and more like a nod.
However, the man at the desk did not consider this a breach of etiquette, and instead he stood up with a smile on his face.
“Brother Dulir, why are you here like so? Where are your little disciples?”
“Forget all that! Little Du! I found one! I actually found one!”
“Found one?”
“A creature form another plane that can freely enter and exit the planes!”
“What?!”
The one named Little Du, who was the clan leader of the Du Clan, had an utterly baffled expression on his face for a long time, and during this time, Dulir simply waited patiently.
A few minutes of silence later, Little Du came out of revery and a bright smile appeared on his face for a moment before changing into a frown once more.
“Is he an enemy?”
“I have no idea. He freely uses that Arcania, but then while being at Tier 4, he already started and completed perceiving and comprehending the law of a peak Tier 4 Drago! All he has left to do is slowly mastering it over time, it will become one of the laws he has full control over! And the worst part is that he did not even know what laws are!”
“…”
Du was simply stunned at this. ‘Are you trying to tell me, that this fellow from some random plane, who does not even know how to learn laws without Arcania, being only at Tier 4, somehow did it with pure luck and talent?’
“As for whether he is an enemy… I hope not” Dulir spoke with a solemn tone and a grave expression.
“Alright, bring him over. I will talk with him directly.”
…
Around an hour later, Merlin walked into that very office, following behind the Old Dulir who had come to pick him up from the temporary resting room he had been given, which, much like this office, was just a tunnel in the rocks.
Little Du, was seated at the table just like when Dulir had come over, and simply glanced over at Merlin.
Merin also glanced at him and used Arcania to [Inspect] him. This guy, was at Tier 4 as well, but only at Level 4, unlike Dulir.
However, Merlin did not let his guard down, since when he had first Inspected Dulir, he had gotten to know that he was only Level 4, however, when Dulir used his powers, it turned out that he was Level 5, and at the maximum points, just waiting for the world to undergo another Mana explosion and Rank up.
Therefore, Merlin behaved as though this guy was also at least at Tier 4 Level 5.
“You must be Merlin.”
“Yes. And you are?”
“Ah. Where are my manners! I am Du, the current head of the Du Clan.”
Merlin looked at him with a strange expression. He was never one to hide his emotions, but was just generally emotionless. Now, he was slightly amused at two things. One, was the very name of Du being the same as his clan. Either it was that Du was a clan that was formed by this Du fellow, and therefore was only 2 generations old, assuming that there should be some children or disciples, or followers of Dulir who had had children or grandkids, or that the leader of the clan would change their name to Du.
The other thing that amused him was,
‘This Du, and that Dulir, they are too similar.’
Thinking this far, Merlin turned to look between Dulir and Du with an unusual smile on his face, and his actions were clearly not missed by the two in question, and Dulir simply let out a series of dry coughs before saying with a groggy voice,
“Little- Ahem, Clan Leader Du and I are brothers. He is my younger brother.”
Merlin nodded, but was inwardly repeating a single word like a child would to someone who lost to them completely.
‘Little Du, Little Du, Little Du, Little Du, Little Du, Little Du”
Naturally, this was just a thought within his mind and quickly went away. Before Du and Dulir could speak, Merlin spoke up with a devilish smile on his face replacing the previously odd expression.
“Do you guys have any wars or large scale conflicts with lots of high Tier combatants involved?”
