|Chapter Title: (Prologue) – In a Parallel World that I’ve Longed For (4)|
—
I traced the patterns carved on the sword, even if my fingers bled, just to sign a death contract with the divine armament relic. In my past life, my father and my grandfather repeatedly told me of the benefits that I’ll earn if we successfully get the Blue Dragon’s Sword of the ancient Ice Dragon Empire. But they also told me of the dangers that it’ll give me once I successfully wielded the mystical divine weapon.
The sword slowly glowed as the patterns on its surface subsequently change into another form. The writings vanished, but an imperial dragon code appeared on its surface, like images of dragons and the ancient dragon war’s tragic story was imprinted on it. Then the blade trembled as a wave of energy lifted the locks that was originally trapping the sword in the case one by one.
When the sword has already floated in the water, still, there was a dense barrier of ice elemental energy that covers it. With increasing curiosity, I let my wounded hand reach the handle of the sword.
It was too cold!
It was too painful!
But I persevered.
I need to touch the sword for it to recognize its new master. This will be the only way that I’ll survive and find a way out of troubles till I get back to the capital and hopefully recuperate in peace. Blue fire enveloped my body as the distance between the sword and my hand decreased. I feel every fiber of my being… being torn by the iced made blue fire. The energy that the sword’s emitting is very dangerous and too dense. I even feel like my body’s about to explode. The pressure is sucking my body down, and it’s putting too much weight on my shoulders, making me feel like I’m completely paralyzed.
I need to strengthen my willpower and mindset, I know I’m strong enough to be the new holder of the sword.
This is my destiny!
Two worlds might be parallel with each other but the responsibility I’m holding is still the same, I’m still the heiress of the Ice Dragon Empire.
With one last breath, my fingers reached the sword. I held unto it tightly, as I felt the ground started to shake intensively. Then another explosion came with a denser energy, making me step backwards. The barrier down here also broke, so debris started to fall and gas rose up from the ground. I hurriedly covered the sword and securely tie it on my waist. Then I swam back to the cage where I entered. The ring emitted light, and it showed me my way out. I swam even faster before the floor lock itself.
When I went out of the underground space, I didn’t stop swimming till I got out of the cage. Its golden coloured cage have been dyed in ash and black. The dragon’s statue was also broken into shards and the place I came in earlier for… was totally gone. Creatures appeared a good distance from where I am, but with one look, I knew the disturbance in the water would make everything go berserk. Sharp tooth are coming my way, their scales were very different too, like these ancient creatures were all servant beasts of the dragons.
I started to swim again.
Blue jellyfish like creatures appeared in my way once again. I followed them, but electric eels swam before us.
I tried to dodge them, unfortunately two out of ten electrocuted me.
“Ahhhhhhhh!” I wailed
The creatures were advancing towards me. I tried to swim again. But my right arm was temporarily paralyzed, so I can only depend on my left arm and my legs. Ripples of energy surge opposing the motion that I’m traveling to. The jellyfish-like creatures were moving forward with me, like a barrier of protection, but some were damaged because of those electric eels.
As we swam towards the opening of the cave under the water I saw how crystal clear everything around me was. The light from the moon illuminated every shadowy part of the lake. Thorny vines started to moved towards my direction, so I hurriedly paddled my way up. But sharp blades were thrown in my way, wounding my body and shredding my clothes in the process. Blood spilled in the water, tainting in red.
The water started to get in total chaos. The animals were hungrily wanting to kill me. My sword started to glow. Then the ring on my finger moved on its own accord, plunging little needles into my middle finger, drawing a lot of blood. The blood inside the gemstones were making it sparkle mystically, and so, I feel a foreign energy enter my body, it soothed the pain that I was feeling making it more comfortable to swim.
I hurriedly swim till a meter was left before I reach the surface of the water. But thorny vines captured my right foot, it was entangled tightly, making the thorns rapture through my flesh. The creatures were nearing, but there’s something that’s odd about them, their eyes were of the same colour. I wriggled my way out, but the vines started to pull me down. So I grabbed my sword and uncovered it.
Slicing the thorny vines.
I immediately used a good amount of Qi energy to pull myself out of the water. I ended up falling on the rocks near the surface of the water. I spit out a mouthful of blood, as I reached out to pull the blade that was buried in my chest, almost capturing my heart in the process. These blade is one of those that was flown to me, it’s not just any ordinary blade.
The blade was made out of rubies and magma, which symbolises the Fire Dragon’s Empire. If that’s the case… the Red Dragon Empire might have left these when the first dragon war ended, only to ensure that the empire won’t have any successful heir.
Before I could rest…
The creatures from the water appeared in front of me.
