|Chapter Title: Battle Royals – To Prove One’s Worth (2) – [The Awakening and the Start of a New Life as the General (1)]|
—
My right eye was temporarily blind because of the pressure that was surging throughout the surroundings, and another cause of it was the excessive loss of blood in my body. Another roar came from the cave, but what made it indifferent was the loud noise of chains rubbing towards the rough texture of the rocks that I’ve checked inside. A rippling motion of ground shaking became stronger than the rippling that has occurred earlier. The breaking of chains was evident, making it echo through the battlefield.
I am holding till the sun rise in the east. The wild beasts have increased in both speed and power as if they were deprived of blood. Sharp teeth pierced through my skin like blood bats in the night. With one hand available, I tightly slashed through, hearing fight less cries of animals being slaughtered in a strike. I held my ground and stood once more, attentively focused on using my sixth and seventh senses, trying to see the dangers that surrounds me when I’m almost blind.
Poison, blades, thorny vines and fire almost killed me. Everyone attacked but the cave behind me put a barrier that made the enemies’ attack disperse back through them, killing three-fourths of the population. Then my left eye turned blind. But before I fell to the ground, I saw a darker hue of blue fire embracing my body as the mighty blue dragon appeared to protect me. The sun shone so bright that it burnt out the creatures of the lake, turning them into ash. With one last glance, I knew I’m safe and I know I have won this victory.
I lost consciousness…
But I know I was holding the sword in my hand.
—
The fresh smell of forest lingered around me. My body was oddly light and my chest feels better. The sound of rain echoed through the silence of the place. As my hand consciously wandered, only to touch the soft mattress below me.
It was silky…
It was warm…
But I feel cold…
My eyes fluttered open…
Only to close it again because of the blinding light. I inhaled deeply, enjoying the gift of life that was granted to me. But the sudden calmness in me changed when I remembered the battle that has conspired from that mystical falls of the Northern territories.
It sent me to panic.
My eyes fluttered open once more, yet I was greeted with familiarity.
I slowly sat up and let my eyes wander around the room.
I checked myself…
My robes were changed into something comfortable. My wounds were nowhere to be found. The wounds on my chest were completely healed, not leaving one scar of remembrance. My eyes were clear and sharp and my senses were even sharper than before. The energy in my body was completely replenished, but what caused it?
I don’t understand…
Suddenly the door of the room opened.
A woman in her forties came in, then from the memories of this body, I remembered that in this world she is my biological mother. Worry was expressed in her tired face, the previous joyful princess who was praised for her beauty and youth turned to someone who aged ten years after a tragedy. She hurriedly sat beside me, while my biological father, I suppose, came in with her.
Tears fell from her eyes. Pain engulfed my chest, making it hard to breathe. In my past life I never had experienced a mother’s love since my mother died right after she gave birth to me, so I don’t understand the pain that I was feeling at the moment. My father in this world was rather almost identical to how my father looks like in my past life, the difference is that this man in front of me has more domineering aura, more defined, more dignified and more smart looking. But his eyes showed the same love that my mother has expressed. I might have worried them too much.
“Princess… You’ve given us a heart attack!” My father voiced his opinion as he sat beside me, my mother was at my right as she embraced me. My father shifted and held me and my mother, then he laid a kiss on my forehead.
“Do not scare us like that again princess” my father reprimanded me once more
“Darling… Your father and I will never know what we’ll do if we’ve lost you right there. In this world there’s no one more important for us than you.” My mother sobbed beside me
“I’m sorry…” I barely whispered, I feel like a stone. My body isn’t reacting positively with how they’re reacting with me, it feels like there’s no connection at all.
Is it the fact that I’m not their real daughter?
Or was it the fact that I’m not used to this?
In my past life I have never received such warm treatment of having a complete family like this. Even if everyone heavily doted on me way back, it’s still very different from now. The warmth is battling with the coldness in front of me. I closed my eyes as I reminisce things from the past and treasure the memories I’m collecting today. It’s a start of a new life for me and for all of us. I might not be their real daughter, but I’ll try my very best to fulfill the duties of being their filial daughter.
“How did I get out of that place?” I asked
My father chuckled as he wiped the tears of my mother with his hands. Then my mother smiled at me like I’m missing something.
“Do you want to meet the person who has saved you?” My mother asked
I slowly nodded.
Not that I’m obliged to…
I’m just curious.
The place was wreaking with death but someone came to save me which is ironic.
Who in their right minds would do it?
“You can come to the pavilion later this morning and see that person, the emperor himself also planned for an alliance with that person… It’s just that–”
“Is there something wrong?”
My mother hesitantly shook her head as she looked at my father.
Now…
I’m even more curious of my saviour.
