The legend of ice - 38 Association with the Winged Lion
“Um… Hello?” I said mentally.
“Roar!”
“What? Who? Why???” answered a little kid’s voice in my head.
“Whoa, calm down, beasty!”
“Who are you? What is this? Why are you in my head?”
“Calm down, one question at a time.”
“Okay okay. Here you go, I calmed down. Now tell me, who are you?”
“I am Hasan Awada, a cultivator of the Mansion of Night. I am also known as the Lord of Ice of Yggdrasil.”
“Oh then, I am….”
“You don’t have a name, do you?”
“No, not really.”
“How about Shi Zi?”
“That is a good name, though I prefer Zi alone.”
“Alright then, pleased to meet you, Zi!”
“Pleased to meet you too, Hasan! What about my other questions…..?”
“You have dormed a bond of equality with me, Zi. You have linked your soul to mine, that’s why we can contact mentally.”
“Oh… I understand now! Umm.. When will I be able to talk like you human beings?”
“I don’t know exactly when will this happen, but it is surely when you reach a high level of cultivation.”
“Hey! I don’t understand these things yet, I was born a year ago! You have to go slowly on my brain!”
“Alright alright, I shan’t talk about this in the time being,” I said while slightly shaking my head.
“Can I ask some requests? Two questions exactly,” asked Zi.
“Yes, Zi?”
“Your name feels a bit heavy and hard to spell for me. Can I call you boss, just like that?”
I smiled a bit because of the beast’s innocent thoughts and nodded. “What’s the second request?”
“I am a bit hungry actually…”
“Just a bit?”
“Well, I could swallow now like…. Two thousand rabit corpses.”
“What did you just say?!”
“I said that I could eat 2000 rabit corpses.”
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” I shouted in my head, then took a deep breath and said, “Look kiddo, you are new to this world. However, you must now that even if I explored the whole mountain, I wouldn’t find the number that you want to eat.”
“What about a thousand?” Zi looked at me and made those innocent and pleading eyes, which made me sigh and shake my head.
“I will try to hunt as much as possible, but of course, not a thousand. Now come with me to the camp and meet the others,” I said. I left Pangu there with Tulip; and as you have guessed, my dear readers, even my ears had to have a break of his blabbering. My poor girlfriend has to endure it as much as possible.
However, you could never guess this! He had come up with a new habit recently; he started to sing! And I can’t express that awful voice of his in words, I leave it to you to imagine how bad it is.
Zi and I walked towards the camp, asking me tons of questions in the span of a minute. However, I didn’t answer any of them and kept myself silent. More is to come in the future, and I don’t want him to know everything in the first year of his life.
We reached our magically expanded tent, were Tulip was there with Pangu. She had put on earmuffs and was cooking something; well, she found a good way to escape Pangu.
“Hey!” cried Pangu, “Look who’s here with Hasan!”
Tulip also seemed to notice my entrance and she turned her head towards me. She came at my side and smiled, getting the earmuffs from her head.
She knelt and was about to caress Zi, but was welcomed by a growl from him. “What are you doing?” I asked him,”Don’t worry, she won’t harm you.”
Zi calmed and let Tulip caress his fur. “Who is she? Her touch is so soft!” he asked.
“She’s my girlfriend, Tulip Karasu,” I answered mentally.
“Girlfriend? What’s that’s?”
“You won’t understand even if I explained to you. Don’t worry, though, you’ll understand everything by the pass of time.”
“Alright then, I won’t think about it for the time being.”
“Looks like you have succeeded in taming the Winged Lion,” said Tulip as she took my arm.
I kissed her hand gently and said, “Yes, I succeeded.”
“It’s so beautiful. What is its name?”
“Zi.”
“Zi the Winged Lion,” said Pangu, “Yeah I like the sound of that. You know, a song just came to my mind, how about I let you listen?”
He was about to start singing again, but I interrupted him, “How about you come with me for a hunt, Pangu?”
“Yeah, sure. I will have the chance to sing in the way.”
“No songs please, I still need my ears.” We went out and started hunting for rabbits, while Pangu kept complaining on many things.
In the afternoon, we finally got a hundred dead rabbits. We returned to the the camp and found Zi sleeping, while Tulip was cultivating.
I put the rabbits near Zi and sat beside Tulip in silence. After a few minutes, nothing remained of the corpses, not even the bones. Zi had devoured them entirely in a span of 2 minutes.
I looked in terror at his appetite and thought, ‘How am I supposed to get him food in the future?’
