The Legendary Actor - Chapter 31
The black man standing at the cash register raised his eyes to the angry Jennifer, then lowered his eyes and just continued ignoring her.
Jennifer felt that the man in front of her was unbelievable. She gave up trying to communicate with reason, leaned forward, reached out her right hand and opened the fridge.
Renly was completely immersed in the world of books, completely unaware of what was happening outside, when suddenly a thrust came from his back, and his body fell forward under the double force of gravity and propulsion, as if the whole world was shaking like the earth, forcibly dragging him out of the world created by the book.
A simple T-shirt and jeans, a long head of light blond hair braided into a fishbone braid, hanging down the shoulders, a perfectly ordinary girl; the round face with a little baby fat, the beautiful eyebrows, gray-blue eyes burning with anger, is staring at Renly fiercely, almost releasing laser light.
Renly even took off his earplugs and cast a puzzled glance, “What happened?”
Jennifer saw the earplugs Renly had removed, and all the reprimands and condemnations had become stuck in her throat, her eyebrows spread wide, but her pupils quickly became round – so, she was the one who was having a fit? Did the man in front of her wear earplugs so he didn’t hear what she said? So the cursing she just did didn’t do any good? So he didn’t disrespect himself, just … he just didn’t hear it?
Jennifer felt her toes curl up as embarrassment swept over her in the aftermath of her anger. She had always been too quick to jump into conclusions without knowing what was going on, and that had taken a lot out of her. But for now, she still hadn’t learned her lessons enough. Jennifer pointed to the earplugs in Renly’s hand, but the rest of her words were swallowed whole.
Taking a look at the earplugs, you’ll notice that they were tucked underneath his collar.
Renly tilted his head up and could clearly capture all the emotions in those gray-blue eyes: anger, embarrassment, struggle, apology, shyness … The eyes are not big, but full of color, as if just a single raised eyebrow could spill out all the inner thoughts. One can not help but begin to explore the story hidden behind the eyes.
Jennifer Lawrence, a teenage actress who became a worldwide sensation with her work in the “Hunger Games” series, is also a spiritual and natural actress.
Her astonishing performance in “Winter’s Bone” is one of the performances that Renly appreciates the most.
Renly recognized the little girl almost at a first glance, but Jennifer was still a fledgling nobody. Her simple outfit even had some country flavor, and the state of her jeans made her look like she had nothing to do with fashion. The straightforward tomboyishness, however, hadn’t changed at all.
“Ahem … “Jennifer seemed to be trying to say something.
Renly, as if understanding, took out a bottle of mineral water from the fridge behind him, unscrewed it and handed it over.
Jennifer looked at Renly’s action, a glint of surprise in her eyes. Renly raised the mineral water, showing a friendly smile, “I think you need a little help.”
Jennifer looked at the mineral water in Renly’s hand, coughed twice, looked at the mineral water in her own hand, and finally ignored Renly’s courtesy, directly unscrewing her bottle, and boldly pouring the content into her mouth with two big gulps, and her throat, which was almost on fire, was finally relieved.
Renly’s eyes couldn’t help but reveal a smile, looking at the bold gesture.
Jennifer caught the look, and her anger and frustration raged again. She ground her teeth and wanted to apologize, but she couldn’t say it after all.
Jennifer embarrassedly lowered her eyes, avoiding his sight. Thinking over and over again, she still didn’t know how to explain the situation just now, and finally just “humph”ed, turned around and left straight away.
“Miss, Miss!” The black man at the checkout counter shouted out quickly, stopping Jennifer, who was already standing half a foot outside, “You have to pay to take it with you.”
Jennifer ground her teeth again – she didn’t know how many times she had done this in a short period of time – and her cheeks burned so hot that she took a deep breath, turned around again, and after a quick checkout, she picked up her mineral water and shook it hard, feeling the coldness of the surface.
It’s all the fault of a bottle of mineral water!
Jennifer left the market quickly, without stopping in her tracks.
Renly sat in the same place, looked behind him at the fridge, and then looked at his own position where he was pushed forward, and realized that he had obviously blocked the way to the door, and the earplugs had become a barrier to communication.
It was too late to catch up with Jennifer, and Renly raised his voice and shouted, “I’m sorry.” The loud voice reverberated in the empty space.
In sight, Jennifer’s footsteps not only didn’t stop, but grew faster and faster, and disappeared around the corner in the blink of an eye.
Renly touched his neck, tugged at the corners of his mouth, looked down at the open mineral water in his hand, shrugged his shoulders, poured a gulp down his throat, and then sat down again, picking up the book he had dropped on the floor. He put on the earplugs habitually, but only in his right ear, so that he would not only avoid something like what had just happened, but also so that he would not miss the airport announcement.
It was just a small episode just now. Renly quickly plunged into the world of books again. Unknowingly time passed quickly. The boarding announcement of the flight to New York resounded for the third time. This time, Renly finally heard it, packed up his luggage, and walked quickly toward the boarding gate.
After going through the check-in procedures, he entered the cabin quickly – he was the last passenger to enter the cabin because he was too engrossed in the other kind of flight – the flight of thoughts that is.
Renly opened the overhead luggage rack and threw his carry-on luggage on it. As he was about to sit down, he caught a sight of a familiar face. Yep, it was Jennifer Lawrence, whom he had only just met! He didn’t know that she was headed to New York, too!
Renly was about to go over to clear up the misunderstanding face to face and express his apology; but before he could catch up with his thoughts, he saw Jennifer spread out the newspaper to completely cover herself, and even released her hands, letting the newspaper drop down on her face, and lay down on the chair and just “passed out”.
This small action made Renly dumbfounded. Obviously, the other party didn’t want any form of communication, so Renly didn’t bother, sat down in his own seat, and waited quietly for the takeoff.
The flight from Los Angeles to New York, across the entire North American continent, was three hours long. When he woke up, the plane had landed smoothly, the security doors were open, and the first class and business class passengers were already leaving the plane.
Renly stretched and looked out the window at the night sky that was gradually descending, the lights were up, and New York City was spreading its arms as it always does all year round, welcoming every visitor to the city.
“Excuse me.” The passenger seated in the middle whispered to Renly, then stood up, took his luggage, and followed the line to prepare for disembarkation.
Renly made his way to the back of the plane and then remembered that Jennifer was sitting not far behind him. He leaned against his seat and scanned the back, but Jennifer’s seat was empty. He thought he had mistaken the location, but after a quick look around, he didn’t see even a whiff of Jennifer.
Just then, he caught sight of a figure, and it was Jennifer – she was following the group, leaving towards the aft hatch. Before Renly could even open his mouth, Jennifer had already left the plane, leaving behind only a shadow. Honestly, she was almost fleeing from the scene.
Stunned, Renly laughed dumbly, then put the brief interlude completely out of his mind for the moment and plopped down in his chair again, watching the night grow darker and darker outside the window.
New York, he was back.
