The Legendary Junkmaster - Chapter 103
Jason smiled as everyone hesitated. Nobody wanted to be the first to go in case they were attacked from behind. It was just stupid to be the one to take that risk! ‘Let’s get started then!’ Jason sprinted into the battle zone quite happily. He was confident that if they tried to attack him right off the bat, he could win.
After all, he could just spray one of his gases to knock them all out! Jason laughed to himself as he glanced over his shoulder. Nobody had dared to follow him. It seemed like every other cadet was too wary of each other to be the first to try and take him down.
Jason sighed as he used the opportunity to run deeper into the zone. ‘It looks like they’re not decisive enough.’ Jason did not go far before he found a building that looked to still be in decent shape.
‘That’ll do.’ He barged through the door that was still standing and headed for the staircase. His plan was to ambush the first person who came here by dropping out the first-floor window.
He pressed his back against the wall in a way that would make him hard to notice while giving him a clear view of the road. This was when the sound of intense fighting could be heard. Dust fell from the ceiling overhead as the building shook due to the shockwaves.
‘Seems like some powerful people are going all out.’ Jason hummed as he waited to catch a glimpse of them. Two women were the first to appear. One being Amy as she defended herself from a woman using lightning. Amy seemed to have the upper hand thanks to using her Power to both attack and defend.
The woman she was up against seemed to only be able to go on the offensive. If it were just the two of them, then Jason was confident that he would be able to take them both out. However, considering the building was still shaking and the noises that he could hear, Jason was aware that at least two others were out of sight.
He watched as Amy’s ice wall came down under the other woman’s assault. However, Amy was smiling. She had hidden several ice spears hidden behind it, which she launched as soon as it came down. The woman with the lightning Power screamed as her left leg was pierced as well as her right shoulder. The rest of the projectiles went wide, shattering as they collided with the wall of the building that Jason was hiding in.
“Finally got you!” Amy gloated as she prepped a few more projectiles to finish the woman off.
Jason carefully weighed the pros and cons of involving himself in the fight right now. On the one hand, he could take out both women with a quick ambush. On the other, he would be revealing himself to the others nearby without knowing what he was up against. ‘The Infinity can take it! Let’s go!’
Jason jumped out of the broken window area that he was looking out from. The mechanical sound of his suit gave him away and alerted Amy. She reacted quickly and adjusted her projectiles to target him instead. They shattered against his armour as he landed heavily on the ground, causing only minor scratches to his paintwork.
Amy’s expression turned grim when she saw him standing there without even bothering to try and protect himself. It told her a lot about how confident Ouroboros was in his new armour. She subconsciously began to back away. Memories of how he had dealt with her before filled her mind.
The woman on the ground thought she had a chance to score some points and launched a lightning bolt at Jason. However, that was a bad move. Jason had installed insulating materials under the armour to protect both himself and his suit’s components. A scorch mark appeared on his chest where it struck but did no other damage.
Jason had no time to waste on her and shot her with darts to knock her unconscious from his left knuckles. Immediately taking her out of the fight. Amy groaned when she saw that because she knew that Ouroboros would get the points for finishing off her target.
Jason grinned as Amy started creating layered ice walls between them. She was obviously trying to prevent him from using the sudden speed boost that he used before. But Jason was not bothered by this.
He activated his RDB’s and used their modifications to allow him to swerve around the walls that she had created. If he had more time before the last exercise, he could have made the boots capable of this feat before. But since they were a rush job, they were limited to being used in a straight line.
Amy gaped in shock as Jason rounded the corner of the last wall between them. He lashed out and punched her in the gut. The force of the momentum was so great that she was knocked unconscious when his fist connected with her body.
Jason slid to a stop as Amy’s body rolled across the ground to slam against an old, rusted lamppost. He reviewed the brief fight momentarily and was pleased that the Infinity had met his expectations so far. However, a loud voice caught his attention as his expression sank behind his helmet.
“He’s here! Everyone! Stop the mock battles and surround him!” Dani shouted from a rooftop overhead.
Jason looked up to see her standing on the roof, looking triumphant. The unmistakable sound of tens of people rushing in his direction could be heard clearly. ‘It was all a trap to lure me out?’ He glanced down the streets and noticed small groups heading towards him from every direction.
He frowned for a moment before realising this was his best chance to take out as many of them as possible. Their trap was going to turn into their worst nightmare!
