The Legendary Junkmaster - Chapter 120
Jason swallowed a lump of saliva as he stared into to the depths below. He took a deep breath before he grabbed ahold of the Rusty ladder and lowered himself inside. Metallic noises rang out with each step that he took. The noise was unsettling as it echoed off the walls that were close around him.
Once he had descended about halfway, he heard the sound of Sentinel following after him. ‘Maybe I’m just overthinking things. He would not have let me go first if there is anything dangerous down here. How far does this go anyway?’ Jason squinted into the Darkness below as he tried to make out how much further he had to put up with this.
Roughly ten minutes passed before Jason’s foot touched upon solid ground once again. He heaved a sigh of relief as he looked around, but there was not much to see. The ladder led to a slightly open room, there were no decorations and only rusted metal made up the walls. There was a solitary passageway the led away from the ladder.
Jason raised an eyebrow as he glanced at it, his mind was racing as he tried to imagine what he was going to find down here. While he was lost in his thoughts, Sentinel completed his own descent to stand beside him.
“Well? What do you think? Sentinel laughed at Jason’s expression. “It’s not so bad, once you get used to it. Come on, there are some things you have to see.”
Sentinel kept chuckling as he walked off down the only exit from the room. Jason heaved a sigh before following after his eccentric mentor. Why is he even bringing me here? Jason rubbed his sweaty palms on his trousers as he started at Sentinel’s back.
“I don’t know what his game is, but hopefully, it can benefit us.” Sissy shrugged her shoulders as she floated alongside Jason.
‘There must be something in it for him as well,’ Jason replied will squinting at Sentinel.
“Of course there is! He’d be stupid to bring us here otherwise!” Sissy laughed while fixing her gaze on Sentinel as well. “But no matter what gains from it, we’ll still be better off.”
‘I suppose you’re right.’ Jason resigned himself to whatever Sentinel had in store for them.
If it were not for the glow emanating from Sentinel’s cybernetic eye, Jason would have been unable to see anything at all. The darkness made him feel as though something was watching him. But that was probably just his mind playing tricks on him.
Soon after, Sentinel suddenly stopped in his tracks. Jason almost bumped into him, but managed to stop himself in time. He peered around Sentinel’s massive body to see the same kind of vault door that he had broken through with his Gramps.
“We’re here.” Sentinel’s voice had a foreboding feeling to it as he turned to face Jason. “I should warn you. The things you’ll see in there won’t make much sense. But try to remember that nothing in there can hurt you.”
Jason frowned as Sentinel studied his expression. ‘I doubt it can be any worse than the one we found.’ Jason had to try his best to not give anything away as he thought that.
Sentinel nodded when he saw that Jason appeared prepared. The door easily gave way to him and slowly opened to reveal a reception area, identical to the one Jason had already seen.
As the lights came on, Jason did not have to act startled. That was because he was momentarily blinded by the light. Sentinel barely gave him a chance to adjust to the new environment before pulling him inside.
“This way.” Sentinel led Jason towards a room to their left.
‘In the other NEST, this would have been where that lizard was kept.’ Jason’s eyes went wide as he waited to see what would be in its place.
However, when Sentinel opened the door to the room, Jason was met with the sight of a room full of dusty computers. Jason raised an eyebrow at Sentinel as if to question him. But Sentinel just ignored the look that he was receiving and moved to the closest desk.
After a momentary pause, Sentinel placed his hand on the nearby computer. There was a slight hum as the old world artefact came to life. ‘What? Oh, right! His Power lets him communicate with stuff like this!’ Jason’s heart began to pound in his chest as a glint appeared in his eyes.
Jason raced over to look at the screen, which was now lit up. A password screen appeared briefly before it crumbled under Sentinel’s Power. A few seconds later, the screen now had a bunch of strange icons on it.

Sentinel navigated through the folders at a rapid pace as he searched for the one he most wanted Jason to see. When it appeared on the screen, Jason frowned. He could understand some of the text but the image that accompanied it caught his attention.
It appeared to show the insides of the lizard beast that he had found with his Gramps. But it focused on one gland in particular. ‘This says that there should be a way to breathe underwater if they could transplant this organ into a human.’
Jason’s frown deepened as he realised that practically all of the text was devoted to human experimentation using beast parts. ‘Whoever came up with this was ambitious at the very least.’ Jason’s eyes scanned the documents quickly as he subconsciously stroked his chin.
Jason was so lost in the information that he failed to notice the slight smile that had appeared on Sentinel’s face. ‘It seems like he can understand it. Good. Maybe he can decipher the stuff not on the computers then.’ Sentinel hummed happily to himself as he inspected Jason. ‘With his help, we can finally take control of the weapon that the Old World left behind…’
As Sentinel was thinking about that, Jason almost choked when he looked over a specific piece of research. In fact, he had to look twice to make sure he did not imagine it.
