The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 175
“You’re right,” Hecathe nodded his head as he looked down at the table and spoke, “It must be hard for you to remember.”
The woman nodded her head once again as she confirmed this.
“But if you happen to recall it by chance, be sure to tell us,” Hecathe added with a smile and although he had said this, he didn’t really hope to hear back from the woman on this topic.
The landlady opened her mouth to say something but before the words could roll out of her tongue, she was interrupted by a yawning sound that came from the stairs.
“Good morning~” LeiLei stretched her arms as she tried to completely wake herself up.
The landlady smiled as she turned to look at the girl and in a single second alone, the landlady was able to act as if she hadn’t just been pitying this girl.
“Good morning,” The woman greeted the girl back.
“Where is Raven?” Hecathe asked with a frown as he looked at the watch..
“He’s probably coming,” LeiLei shrugged her shoulders as she casually responded.
“Probably?” Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he repeated.
“I’m here, damn it!” Marvin’s voice could be heard rushing down from up the stairs and LeiLei chuckled a little as she heard this.
“It seems that Raven is pretty obedient to you,” LeiLei couldn’t help but playfully comment.
“…”
Hecathe sighed as he stood up from the chair and announced strictly, “Let’s go.”
“But what about breakfast?” LeiLei asked with a frown as she looked at the man with pleading eyes.
“You can eat on the way,” Hecathe replied and LeiLei’s frown deepened.
“So unfair! How come you get to eat in peace while you make us eat on the road?!” LeiLei whined as she felt a little wronged.
“Who said I got to eat in peace?” Hecathe clicked his tongue as he revealed, “I’m also going to be eating with you two.”
“Oh…” LeiLei scratched the back of her neck with an awkward chuckle.
Marvin shook his head with a sigh as he walked over towards the table and collected the breakfast that had been packed for him.
“Let’s go. The sooner we get this done, the earlier I’ll get to come back and catch up on my sleep,” Marvin yawned as he spoke and LeiLei was a bit surprised and inspired to hear this.
“You’re absolutely right…!” LeiLei exclaimed with a bit of excitement and now it was Hecathe’s turn to be a bit taken aback.
These two had been crying and arguing yesterday because they didn’t want to go back to that place and now, they looked to be more enthusiastic than Hecathe.
“All the best and have a safe journey,” The landlady smiled as she spoke, cheering them up.
“We’ll be back soon!” LeiLei beamed as she opened the door and went out first.
Hecathe also nodded as he looked at the landlady and without saying anything any further, he followed behind LeiLei.
“Are you mad at Hecathe?” Marvin asked as he stayed behind for a few seconds.
“Eh?” The landlady looked to be a bit shocked as she received this sudden question, “What makes you think that?”
“You just glared at him,” Marvin stated without any hesitation and he certainly looked to be a bit too casual about it.
“Um…” The landlady gulped as she tried to defend herself, “Maybe you just imagined it.”
Marvin blinked innocently in confusion as he heard this and asked, “Is that so?”
The woman nodded her head as she confirmed this, but it seemed that Marvin was a bit too good at detecting lies. Perhaps he was even better than Hecathe at this game, but at the same time, he would usually act as if he notices nothing and he would rather choose to believe the person even if he already knew that they were only lying.
“Then I’ll apologize for accusing you,” Marvin spoke with a small smile, “But you should be more careful next time. You wouldn’t want me being mistaken like this again.”
The landlady felt her muscles suddenly tense up as she heard this, but she didn’t dare say anything as she understood the deeper meaning behind the boy’s words.
“See you later,” Marvin spoke with a nod as he left the place.
“…”
The three headed to LeiLei’s old house and they preferred to walk instead of deciding to use LeiLei’s ability as a transportation method.
“If there is anything else you’d like to warn me about, now is a perfect time,” Hecathe spoke with a sigh as he unwrapped the breakfast and took a bite out of the delicious chicken sandwich.
“I already warned you about everything though,” LeiLei spoke after thinking about it for a minute,
“You just need to worry about the traps and the illusions.”
“Alright then,” Hecathe muttered as he continued to eat nonchalantly.
Although LeiLei had warned him about how dangerous that house was, he didn’t look to be all that worried, and this fearless demeanor clearly had a reason behind it.
The three quietly finished their breakfast and luckily enough, after they were done, they were already standing in front of that old house which was supposed to be extremely dangerous.
“So this was where you used to live?” Hecathe side-glanced at the girl as he asked with surprise and LeiLei simply nodded her head as she confirmed this.
“Wow~” Hecathe couldn’t help but be a little amazed as he commented, “You used to live a pretty wealthy life.”
Hecathe was certainly not kidding when he made this comment.
The house was old but calling it a house was certainly an understatement.
It would be much more suiting to call this place a mansion simply because it really was alike a mansion.
“Well, what’s the use? It’s not mine anymore,” LeiLei shrugged her shoulders as she responded with a sigh.
Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin line as he heard this but said nothing as he stood in his spot and looked on ahead, taking in the beauty of this old mansion.
Hecathe had already guessed that LeiLei’s parents weren’t ordinary folks, but now that he was standing here, looking at the place that they called home, this belief of his had strengthened.
There was absolutely no way that her parents were normal.
“Let’s go inside,” LeiLei spoke as she took a step forward and tried to knock on the door, but she was suddenly stopped by Hecathe who pulled her back by her hand.
“Eh…?” LeiLei turned to look at Hecathe in confusion and a bit of surprise.
“Wait,” Hecathe spoke as he looked at the mansion.
Marvin frowned as he asked, “What are we waiting for? An invitation?”
“That’ll be stupid,” Hecathe clicked his tongue as he replied, “If we use the main door, we are going to trigger the traps.”
“So you want us to sneak in from the window or something?” Marvin raised his eyebrows as he asked.
Hecathe let out a small chuckle as he heard this and shook his head as he explained, “That would not be necessary. We don’t really want a house tour. We just want to have a talk with the owner.”
Marvin’s frown deepened as he heard this and the boy clearly had a hard time understanding what Hecathe wanted to say.
Hecathe took a few minutes to deeply think about something before he pointed up at a particular room in the mansion that was on the second floor which was also the highest floor.
“Hmm…?” Marvin hummed as he patiently waited for the man to talk.
“We go there,” Hecathe spoke with a small smirk.
“Why?” It was LeiLei who questioned with a frown as she looked at the man in confusion.
“Just find us a way to get there. You would know why I chose that place soon enough,” Hecathe responded and LeiLei felt even more confused as she heard this.
“A way to get up there?” LeiLei repeated as she looked up at the room, but before she could say or do anything more, Marvin clicked his tongue as he took out the double-bladed saber.
“Would you mind it if I broke the ceiling a bit?” Marvin asked as he spun the weapon.
“You’re free to do whatever suits your taste,” Hecathe answered with a small smile, “But get it fixed afterward. We wouldn’t want to offend the owner.”
“Got it,” Marvin nodded his head in understanding as he threw the sword towards the room with a speed that could almost beat even a race car.
The mere speed combined with the power used managed to crack the wall of the room completely and the sword returned back to the owner like an obedient boomerang.
LeiLei’s eyes widened in horror and all she could do was gulp as she saw the sight of her old room being destroyed within just a mere few seconds.
Hecathe clapped his hands as he saw the man sitting on a chair inside the room.
His face couldn’t be clearly seen because of the shadows, but Hecathe was still able to tell that the man looked to be completely calm and didn’t even flinch as he watched the wall being shattered into bits.
