The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 180
“A twin brother…?” Marvin repeated with a bit of surprise as he immediately snapped his head towards LeiLei and looked at the girl for confirmation.
LeiLei’s eyes immediately widened as she heard this question and the girl was clearly feeling a little uneasy, however, she still nodded her head as she responded, “I know about that.”
“And you didn’t care to tell us?” Hecathe tilted his head as he questioned with an unimpressed expression plastered on his face.
“It was something that was never meant to be known by you,” LeiLei sighed as she looked away and responded.
“Because your father was supposed to die in the first place since he was Dorka’s twin brother…?” Hecathe clicked his tongue as he questioned in disbelief..
LeiLei looked to be a bit offended as she heard this and the girl immediately shouted back, “That’s not it! My father wasn’t the one who was supposed to die!”
“Eh…?” Hecathe’s eyebrows drew together as he heard this and the man was clearly a bit confused as he waited for the girl’s explanation.
“Dorka was the one!” LeiLei revealed in a fit of anger and as soon as the words fell out of her mouth, she seemed to have regretted it.
“There’s no regretting now. We are with you and not against you. If there is anyone whom you should be honest to it is us,” Marvin spoke as he pursed his lips into a thin line.
LeiLei gulped as she heard this but still looked to be reluctant.
“He’s right,” Hecathe nodded his head and agreed with Marvin as he spoke, “We are on your side so you can tell us anything that might trouble you.”
“He…” LeiLei sighed as she looked down at the ground and hesitated to speak, “My father was the one who was supposed to be the third willow of spring… He was the one who defeated the Dorgon.”
Both Hecathe and Marvin looked to be shocked as they heard this and they looked at each other just to check whether their shock was mutual or not.
The first three willows of spring were decided by the three leaders that had ruled the rebellion and overthrown the government and after their deaths, they had no children or siblings to give down their thrones to and hence, there was a new selection process made for the next three willows of spring.
If one could manage to defeat a Dorgon, that person would be proclaimed as the new willow of spring and if all three seats are already filled then the person would also have to fight the willow of spring whose seat he or she wants to take.
It was a simple challenge that was not as simple to clear. There were a lot of people that had tried and most of them had also died in the process.
Even the great Edler had died in the hands of a Dorgon so it could be clearly said that beating one was no easy task.
“You mean to say… Dorka lied…?” Marvin questioned as he gulped in disbelief.
LeiLei nodded her head as she confirmed this and spoke, “My father was the one who killed the Dorgon and he was the one who was supposed to be the third willow of spring but then, he didn’t want to leave me and my mother behind so he gave it up to his brother and since they looked alike, nobody suspected a thing.”
Hecathe’s eyes widened ever so slightly as he suddenly remembered the words he had heard from Psion. He had also said something along the same lines of people not realizing the difference between the real deal and the twin.
“Dorka would actually do such a shameless thing?” Marvin questioned and not only did he sound shocked but he also sounded a bit angry and disgusted at the man.
“Originally, my father wanted to give it up for good since he didn’t even mean to actually kill the Dorgon, but then his brother convinced him to give the chance over to him. Uncle Dorka loved power and he promised my father that we would get to live a safe and happy life.”
“LeiLei, I’m just asking this in case but… Did your father die before your uncle Dorka?” Hecathe asked as his eyes narrowed down on the girl.
LeiLei nodded her head as she heard this, “He did.”
Hecathe gulped as he heard this and looked at Marvin who looked back at him. Both of them had the same thought in mind.
There was a high chance of it being Dorka who betrayed and killed LeiLei’s father.
He had the perfect motive to do it…
“Are you suspecting him?” LeiLei asked as she easily guessed what the two were thinking.
Hecathe didn’t bother lying about it as he nodded his head and answered honestly, “He’s the one with the biggest motive. If your father’s existence was to be known, he could not only lose his power but could also lose his life.”
LeiLei frowned as she heard this and the girl clearly didn’t agree with Hecathe on this, “I don’t believe it. If he had wanted to kill my father, he would have already done it early on. Why would he wait?”
“Maybe something pushed him to do it,” Marvin shrugged his shoulders as he guessed and although he had only said this casually, Hecathe seemed to have found this a bit possible.
“That could fit the picture,” Hecathe muttered as he gulped, “If someone else found out and threatened him, would it not push him to get rid of the danger…?”
“Hecathe, I don’t think this case is going to be that simple,” Marvin sighed as he spoke.
Hecathe clicked his tongue as he responded rather enthusiastically, “That is exactly why this may be the case. Sometimes, the more complicated a case seems, the more simple it actually is.”
“Then how do you explain Asgarian leading my mother to her death?” LeiLei frowned as she questioned, “He was the one that came to give her the news of my father’s death and she decided to follow him to my father.”
“LeiLei…” Hecathe muttered as he looked at the girl with a little bit of sympathy and asked, “Are you sure you remember everything?”
“Eh…?” LeiLei unconsciously took a step back as she heard this question.
“LeiLei, were you thrown out of your house, or did you run away on your own…?” Hecathe rephrased the question and asked straightforwardly.
According to the information given by Psion, it was clear the latter was the real scenario, however, Hecathe still wanted to check this with LeiLei cause he wouldn’t want to believe a man whom he had only met once over a girl that he has been watching and living with for more than a month.
LeiLei gulped as she opened her mouth to say something, but before any words could roll out of her tongue, the girl immediately closed her mouth and it seemed like she was suddenly thinking about something.
“I ran away…?” LeiLei questioned herself as she tried to remember the past that she had tried hard to forget.
“LeiLei, let me make this easier for you,” Hecathe spoke with a sigh, “The one who killed your parents would have killed you as well and nobody would have simply abandoned a kid like you on the road. The reason you are still alive is probably because you ran away from there. You saw something, didn’t you? To be more exact, you saw a person that was trying to kill you.”
“And I closed my eyes…” LeiLei muttered as she completed Hecathe’s sentence and continued with a surprised expression, “I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep. I acted as if it was a dream because I really wanted it to be nothing more than a dream and then… It became a dream…”
Marvin was perhaps the only one who felt lost and confused as he heard this.
“You closed your eyes and fell asleep. When you woke up, you were already out of danger and alone… On the streets of Ocasia,” Hecathe spoke as he guessed the rest of it, “You wanted it to be nothing more than a dream and your brain made sure that you remembered it as nothing more than a dream.”
LeiLei gulped as she heard this and nodded her head.
She had some blurry memories about this and now that Hecathe had pointed this out, the girl was sure that what she had seen was not just a dream.
“LeiLei, you have been lying to us,” Hecathe shook his head in disappointment as he spoke up, “You know exactly who the killer is. The reason why you didn’t look for revenge till now was not because you don’t know that person, it was because you don’t want to believe that it is that person… Isn’t that right?”
“B-But it wasn’t uncle Dorka!” The girl still defended the man as she spoke, “It was a mecha-suit!”
“No,” Hecathe was also stubborn as he replied almost immediately, “It was someone you knew and that person was pretending to be a mecha-suit.”
“Aaaaaaa!” LeiLei suddenly screamed as she covered her ears and crouched down to the ground, “I don’t know! I don’t know! Stop it! Leave me alone!”
Somehow, Hecathe had touched a triggering topic that managed to break LeiLei down.
