The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 194
“Who is he?” Darius questioned as he looked at the man that had been pushed forward by Marvin.
“A witness and an accomplice,” Marvin responded without any hesitation, “He’s the proof that I would like to present”
The witness shivered as he heard Marvin and it looked like he had been struck with fear as he knelt down and kept his face down, not even daring to say anything.
It seemed that there was something that had made the man uncomfortable. Or to be more exact, there was a particular person present here that the man did not have the courage to face.
Marvin opened his mouth to say something, but he was suddenly interrupted by Asgarian who beat him to it.
Asgarian didn’t let Marvin have the chance to reveal the man’s identity as he spoke, “That’s one of my most trusted men. What nonsense are you spouting?”
“That’s right,” Marvin nodded his head as he spoke, “I never said he wasn’t.”
Asgarian gulped as his eyes narrowed down dangerously on Marvin, but the man said nothing more as he waited.
“I found him snooping around in the illegal auction house today. I just so happened to be in Ocasia for some business but I didn’t expect him to be there as well,” Marvin lied skillfully as he explained, “At first, I captured him because I found him suspicious, but then I recognized him. He has been working with the three willows for a really long time so I had seen him around a few times. I thought I should just let him go, but then I asked him why he was there and he revealed something that I dare not believe.”
Marvin raised his head as he scoffed and continued, “He was there to find the rumored Orgon that had come back from the dead.”
Although the rumor was only spread in Ocasia, it had somehow entered Zeblor as well, and hence, everybody was well aware of the ridiculous story that floated around about the revived Orgon. However, till now, most people here had not dared to believe in such nonsense.
“Before I say anything further, I would like to ask one of the willows a question,” Marvin continued as he looked up at Asgarian, “Whose orders was he following?”
Asgarian gritted his teeth as he heard this question but said nothing as a response.
Darius also looked to be confused as he followed Marvin’s gaze and looked at Asgarian.
With a chuckle, Lara asked, “Marvin, please be clear with what you want to say. Are you trying to prove that your father’s death had something to do with one of us?”
Marvin chuckled dryly as he shook his head and spoke, “I think you would naturally know the answer to that better.”
“…”
“This man came to Ocasia under the orders of one of the three willows of spring and his purpose wasn’t just to meet the rumored Orgon that had come back from the dead, his goal was to kill him and silence him forever,” Marvin clicked his tongue as he spoke.
“Even if he came to check the rumors, how can you say his purpose was to kill Orgon? What proof do you have?” Darius asked with a small frown and this man genuinely looked to be interested in hearing more.
“Of course, I would know,” Marvin sighed as he revealed, “Because I was the rumored Orgon that he had tried to kill.”
His words were like a strike of lightning that had left people stunned and speechless.
People wondered if they had heard him right and even when they were sure that they had, they still did not dare to believe his words.
All eyes turned on the man who had suddenly become a suspect.
Before the suspect could reveal anything, Asgarian gritted his teeth and stood up as he put on a show for everyone.
“You dare act on your own and think about harming someone like him?!” He snapped angrily as he acted shocked and angry.
Marvin almost wanted to laugh as he heard this.
It seemed that Asgarian was a pretty good actor and Marvin wasn’t really unfamiliar with this fact.
Unexpectedly enough, Asgarian snatched a Zelium gun from one of the guards before aiming it directly at the man and shooting without any hesitation.
Marvin’s eyes widened but before he could do anything, the trigger had already been pulled.
“Enough!” It was the voice of LeiLei shouting and the girl used her power to turn the bullet into a cloud.
The bullet was probably somewhere in the sky now.
“Killing the witness to silence him,” LeiLei’s eyebrows creased together as she glared at the man and spoke, “You are really proving yourself to be a scum!”
Although it was clear that Marvin was against the man called Asgarian, his words till now had been respectful and were chosen carefully, however, it seemed that LeiLei was not afraid of anything as she openly slandered the man.
“Who are you?” Asgarian frowned as he glared back at the girl and clicked his tongue in annoyance.
“My name is LeiLei,” The girl took a sharp breath in as she introduced herself, “I’m probably sure you don’t remember my name but my father used to once consider you as a friend.”
LeiLei closed her eyes and tried to calm herself down as she unhesitantly revealed, “He trusted you, and what he got in turn for his trust was death. Wihtout even blinking an eye, you betrayed him. You killed both of my parents and then you tried to kill me as well.”
Asgarian looked to be a little confused as he heard this but rather than saying he was confused of such a thing ever happening, it looked like he was more confused about which incident the girl was talking about.
He had killed too many to remember so it was only natural that he did not recognize the girl.
“Stop this nonsense,” Asgarian spoke up as he firmly defended himself, “I have no idea who you are nor do I know your parents.”
LeiLei scoffed as she heard this and responded, “Believe me, there is no way you would forget him. Afterall, you’re sitting in a position that could have been his.”
“…” Asgarian’s eyes widened ever so slightly and it seemed that with just this sentence alone, he was clearly able to understand who the girl was talking about.
However, it didn’t matter if he remembered it or not since he was still going to deny the accusation.
Asgarian raised the Zelium gun once again and aimed it at LeiLei as he spoke, “Since you have dared to lie and slander one of the three willows in front of such a crowd, you should be well aware of the consequences you’d have to face.”
Asgarian got ready to pull the trigger but Lara who had been enjoying the scene till now smiled as she decided to finally act.
Before the man could get the chance to shoot, Lara had already kicked the gun away and almost fractured his bone in the process.
Asgarian winced in pain as he glared at the girl who had interrupted.
Lara pursed her lips into a thin smile as she approached him.
Asgarian had no idea what the girl was planning so he simply waited on the spot while Lara leaned in close to his ear and whispered, “I never stopped you from doing anything. It didn’t matter who you offended or killed, but didn’t I advice you to be careful? You should have wrapped it up nicely and buried it deep so that no one would ever be able to dig it up. You shouldn’t have got caught.”
Asgarian gulped as he heard this and his eyes widened with a bit of fear.
He would be an idiot if he were not to understand the deeper meaning behind her words.
Lara stepped back and smiled before turning around and clearing her throat as she announced, “It seems that Marvin is not lying and the girl is also speaking the truth.”
Everyone gasped in shock as they heard this.
Lara could read minds and hence, she was the only one here who could tell if a person is lying or not.
“Such being the case, the truth of the matter would certainly be investigated. This nation had always been fair and if the investigation really results to Asgarian being proven guilty then there would be no unfair exception made for him.”
This girl was certainly a cunning one…
She was ruthlessly pushing Asgarian forward and making him into a sacrificial lamb, all the while, securing her own position and authority.
Although she looked much younger than the man, she was way smarter than him.
Hecathe chuckled dryly as he heard Lara’s words and shook his head as he spoke up, “There would be no need for an investigation.”
“Hmm?” Lara turned to look at the man who had dared to interrupt her words.
“After all, your half-assed investigation is the reason why I have been falsely accused and dragged here,” Hecathe lifted his head and looked at the girl with a small smirk as he added.
