The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 198
“So this war… Is also a mess that I created, isn’t it?” Hecathe closed his eyes in defeat as he asked.
“Hecathe, you’re the villain here,” The Dorgon spoke with a sigh, “That’s why I decided to join your side. I thought we could take over this land and when that was done, I’d kill you off and rule it.”
“…”
The Dorgon was being a bit too brutally honest and Hecathe didn’t know if he was supposed to laugh or cry about it.
“But now-”
Hecathe clicked his tongue and cut him off as he spoke, “Please don’t give me a cliche response and tell me that after you’ve hung around me for a while, you learned compassion and decided to change your plan,”
The Dorgon chuckled as he heard this and shook his head as he opened his mouth and froze a part of the city down below before he spoke up, “That’s not it. After living with you, I realized that I had overestimated you.”
“…” Hecathe fell a little speechless as he heard this.
“I thought you’d want to overthrow the government and take over the nation but when you revealed that you had no interest in ruling Zeblor, I was proven wrong.” The Dorgon chuckled as he continued, “It was a bit amusing to know that even after having planned it all out, you were still uninterested in ruling a city that you would have conquered. After that, I seriously thought about what I wanted and I came to the conclusion that it would probably not be fun to rule a city that is filled with you filthy humans.”
Hecathe gulped as he heard this and he didn’t know if he was supposed to feel happy about this or not.
“Even revenge appeared to be a bleak desire. Even if I were to wipe out all of humanity, it would not bring back my family that had been ruthlessly slaughtered by your people.”
Hecathe felt a little sorry for the Dorgon as he heard this but he still said nothing as he patiently let the Dorgon talk.
“Do you know how a Dorgon emperor is born?”
Hecathe shook his head as he heard this question, “I have read that it is decided since birth but I don’t know the specifics.”
“A Dorgon emperor is born through the death of a Dorgon. Out of all the Dorgon’s that die, there would be one that will be reborn with all of his memories from the previous life and that is how it is decided since birth who would become the Dorgon emperor.”
Hecathe raised his eyebrows and with a bit of surprise, he asked, “So you’re telling me that you died and were reborn to be the emperor…?”
The Dorgon nodded his head as he swung his magnificent wings and flew higher up into the clouds, “A Dorgon emperor is all-knowing because he has lived for far longer than you’d think. This is also the reason why I was hungry for revenge. In my previous life, I was killed by her and in this life as well, she was the one that captured me and sold me to a wretched auction house.”
Hecathe couldn’t help but feel as if he was being fed with a bit too much information for a single day.
The more he learned, the more he felt that he had been living in the dark.
LeiLei had betrayed him, he had been controlled since the beginning by his landlady and Lara had been making use of him to move her own wicked plans. The Dorgon that he had saved knew much more than him and even the Dorgon egg being in the auction had not been there by pure chance.
At this point, all Hecathe could do was admit that Lara was a genius with a wicked mind.
Even Asgarian seemed to have been played by the girl who set him up to his doom.
However, although her actions could be seen as that of a great villain, there was still something that Hecathe was glad about.
If she were to be the greatest villain, she wouldn’t have been caught even by the end of it all.
Lara had made a scheme that appeared to be perfect but little did she know that there was no such thing as a perfect crime.
If she had somehow managed to remain hidden till the very end, Hecathe would have respected her for it, but now that she had let her guard down and allowed herself to be villainized, Hecathe was surely not going to back down and accept any of this.
“Eggy, what do you think I should do now?” Hecathe shook his head with a sigh as he questioned.
“Go through with the plan,” The Dorgon wasn’t too hesitant as he immediately responded, “You already know what you have to do. No need to think so hard about it. Do what you believe you should do.”
The Dorgon’s response was rather lazy and wasn’t really inspirational, however, it seemed to have pleased Hecathe.
“In that case, would you lower down a bit?” Hecathe asked politely and his lips curled up in a small smile as he continued, “I’d like to make an announcement for the commencement grand show.”
The Dorgon nodded his head and smiled, “As you say.”
The Dorgon swung his giant wings and slowly lowered himself down onto the stage that was currently preoccupied with Marvin and Darius whom he had dared to fight.
There came a lot of bullets and arrows aiming for the Dorgon but they were all stopped by an invisible barrier that had been put up by the Dorgon.
Hecathe took in a sharp breath and immediately jumped down from the Dorgon’s back when they were close enough to the ground.
At first, the Dorgon’s presence was so massive that not many had managed to notice Hecathe.
Hecathe cleared his throat and interrupted the fight between Marvin and Darius as he spoke, “Marvin, why are you going easy on him?”
Darius looked to be a little confused and agitated as he heard this and the man dangerously glared at Marvin.
“Hecathe, why are you here?!” Marvin shouted as he deflected an attack from Darius.
“I just had a really nice chat with my pet Dorgon and it seems that there is something that I must urgently do.”
“…” Marvin looked as if he didn’t even want to bother responding to something like that.
In the very next moment, Darius abandoned Marvin and lunged towards Hecathe with vicious killing intent, but Hecathe only chuckled as he calmly stood on the spot and confidently waited for the attack to land.
His confidence was clearly not based on a bluff and before the attack could land, it was blocked by Marvin who threw his double-bladed sword forward and used it as a shield for Hecathe. The sword steadily spun in front of Hecathe and created a barrier as well.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Marvin angrily shouted as he looked at Hecathe with his eyes wide open.
Hecathe closed his eyes and cleared his throat as he shouted out for everyone to hear, “This is a war!”
“…”
“To those who may surrender, we’ll show mercy but to those who go against us, we shall return the hostility!” Hecathe looked around as he made sure that his message was widely heard, “All armies are ordered to not go easy on people that stand to protect the three willows of spring! I do not plan to stretch this war out for too long so make sure everything ends today itself! By tomorrow, the world shall be freed from the clutches of the three willows!”
Marvin couldn’t help but feel a little shocked and confused as he heard this man. For a second there, he even wondered whether Hecathe had finally lost his mind or not.
“Captain, we shall win no matter what!” One of the mecha-suits shouted at the top of his voice as he smashed the face of a soldier that opposed them.
At this point, the outcome of the war already looked to be pretty clear. If the three willows of spring needed to survive, they would need a miracle. If they didn’t have a miracle then they would need the help of Lara.
Lara could control Hecathe’s army and turn them against Hecathe, however, it was clear that the girl had already chosen to stay neutral.
Instead of joining a side that had both chances of losing or winning, she would rather wait and let everything slowly unfold till she automatically achieved what she wanted.
What she wanted to achieve with all this still remained to be a mystery, but Hecathe wasn’t too worried about that.
The Dorgon had told him not to think too hard about such things since overthinking never gave him something to enjoy. Hence, this time, he decided to do whatever he wanted and he wanted to follow his gut instincts.
Darius somehow managed to break Marvin’s barrier that was protecting Hecathe and he threw a straight punch at Hecathe’s face, however, his fist was caught by somebody.
“We are not done yet,” Marvin gritted out as he spat out a mouthful of blood onto the man’s face.
