The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 199
Darius somehow managed to break Marvin’s barrier that was protecting Hecathe and he threw a straight punch at Hecathe’s face, however, his fist was caught by somebody.
“We are not done yet,” Marvin gritted out as he spat out a mouthful of blood onto the man’s face.
Darius flipped on his left leg and aimed to kick Marvin but Hecathe acted fast and pushed Marvin’s head down in the very last possible second, helping the man avoid the kick.
“Marvin, don’t you have something for me?” Hecathe asked with a sigh as he looked down at the boy.
Marvin chuckled as he heard this and took out the sword that had been tied to his back before giving it over to Hecathe, “Be careful with it.”
Hecathe smiled as he took the hilt of the sword and looked down at it, “Don’t worry about that.”
This sword was the same one that Marvin had placed as collateral at the auction house till he paid off the price needed to buy the auction house ownership.
The sword originally belonged to the great Edler and was famously known to be the hero’s sword.
When Hecathe looked at the sword, he couldn’t help but remember the stupid auctioneer’s comment on how this sword was going to belong to the next great hero.
He almost wanted to laugh at how wrong that auctioneer had been at guessing.
Hecathe wasn’t a great hero. If he had been a hero, he would have tried to save lives by putting an end to this war, so it would be shameless of him to claim that he was a hero.
According to Hecathe, it would be much more believable for him to say that he was the next great villain. Or to be more exact, the next great pseudo-villain.
Marvin immediately swung his double-bladed saber at Darius and distracted him for a few seconds.
Darius blocked the saber with his hands and punched Marvin on the stomach with the other hand but it seemed that this action had already been expected not only by Marvin but also by Hecathe.
Marvin grabbed the man’s wrist and smirked as he called out, “Now!”
Hecathe raised the sword with a sigh as he heard this and in a split second, he tried to cut down the man’s head.
However, the sword didn’t manage to get all the way through and had only pierced the iron armor that covered his neck.
“Better watch your opponents back as well,” Hecathe commented with a smirk as he pulled the sword back.
Darius gritted his teeth and looked unharmed by the previous attack as he threw Marvin aside and tried to punch Hecathe.
Hecathe chuckled as he caught the punch and stared right into the man’s eyes, “Be more careful and don’t leave an opening.”
Darius had a head that was a bit too hot at this moment and hence, he didn’t manage to quite understand what Hecathe was talking about.
With a swing of his right hand, Hecathe tried to chop off the man’s hand but the metal suit once again came in the way and protected its owner.
Hecathe would certainly be lying if he claimed not to be disappointed by this.
With this suit coming in the way, it didn’t matter if their attacks landed or not since it was all just as useless.
Marvin didn’t stand up after being thrown aside and instead, he carefully spun his double-bladed saber and threw it forward, aiming for Darius’ feet.
Darius was a bit too preoccupied with Hecathe and hence, the attack successfully landed but it didn’t manage to cut off the man’s feet. It only managed to throw him off balance and that was more than enough for Hecathe.
Hecathe lifted his wrist and took a few seconds to turn on his QMS as he sent a message, “Xanie, where is my suit?”
The response didn’t come as quick as Hecathe had wanted but Xanie surely tried her best to make time for a reply.
“Captain, are you sure about this?”
Compared to the question, her words seemed to be a little out of context, however, it seemed that Hecathe could still understand her and he unhesitantly replied, “I’m sure.”
“Okay,” This time, Xanie’s response was short but it was enough.
In the next few minutes, while Hecathe and Marvin kept Darius busy in a fruitless fight, one of the mecha-suits ran towards Hecathe with another heavy suit on top of his shoulders.
Hecathe immediately recognize this mecha-suit as the general that had helped Hecathe to escape from the execution when he had first come to this world.
Just like how the mecha-suit carried Alphius’ suit at this moment, back then, he had also carried Hecathe all the way to the underground city in the exact same manner.
“Captain, it’s here!” The mecha-suit spoke as he placed the suit down.
Hecathe nodded his head with a smile as he heard this and for a few seconds, he left Marvin alone to deal with Darius.
“But Captain, are you sure about this? It may be dangerous,” The mecha-suit spoke up anxiously as he looked at Hecathe carefully.
For him, Hecathe was still Alphius and Alphius was infamous for being bad at controlling his own mecha-suit.
Since Hecathe had never used a mecha-suit before this, it wasn’t as if he was going to be any better but that was also something that he had already calculated when he ordered the suit to be delivered here.
“Playing with danger isn’t something to be afraid of,” Hecathe confidently spoke re-assuringly as he smirked, “For a man who had once played with death, this is nothing.”
Hecathe jumped inside the suit and somehow tried to use it as if he were in a car.
The controls were not that complicated but practically using them was still a bit tricky. The more he thought about it, the more he felt as if it was really alike driving a car.
A car also did not have complicated handles but it was still not something that was easy for everybody.
At the end of the day, how good a person was in using it, depended on the years of focus and practice put in.
Experience made a master and since this was the first time that Hecathe was using a mecha-suit, it was only natural to expect some incoming disaster.
Hecathe first tried to control the feet and then he tries his best to control the two hands of the suit.
When he had the hang of it, he gave up on practice and straightaway went forward to fight.
His legs wobbled as he walked but as long as it worked, he didn’t care too much about it.
From the outside, it looked as if this mecha-suit was being controlled by a mere child that had bad motor skills. However, since there was basically a war, nobody really cared about it nor did anybody bother to look at the laughable scene.
Marvin ducked his head down and avoided a punch by Darius and Darius got ready to kick the man up but suddenly, another really strong punch was thrown exactly at Darius’ cheek and the man was forced to retreat a few steps.
“See, I told you not to be so distracted,” Hecathe mocked the man with a small chuckle.
“Didn’t you claim to be bad at controlling a mecha-suit?!” Darius gritted his teeth as he questioned.
Hecathe nodded his head as he confirmed it and spoke, “I am bad at it but I never said anything about not being able to use it completely. Even a child can drive a tractor if given the driver’s seat, but that doesn’t mean he has to drive it perfectly without any accidents.”
Darius had a hard time understanding what Hecathe meant but it wasn’t as if he was interested to know either.
The willow was much more interested in talking with his fists so he threw a punch at Hecathe’s head and Hecathe’s head flew right off his neck… Or at least, the helmet did.
“That thing was making it a bit too hot in here so I guess I’d thank you for that,” Hecathe sarcastically spoke as he smiled.
When the next punch was thrown, Hecathe successfully managed to duck his head and avoided it while Marvin pushed his saber up and tried to stab Darius.
“You kids are too young to beat me!” Darius spoke a bit too confidently and Hecathe wanted to prove him wrong but at the same time, he couldn’t help but unconsciously nod his head as he agreed with the man.
The man was still able to remain unharmed even when he was fighting against two strong opponents so his skill was not something to be doubted.
However, losing was still not an option so Hecathe wasn’t going to play fair anymore.
“I wonder why you act so righteous when you three have always been using your strength to harm and kill your own people,” Hecathe spoke with a scoff as he incited the man.
“Shut up!” Darius shouted and it seemed that there was not really a need to incite the man since he was already so furious.
