The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 200
“I wonder why you act so righteous when you three have always been using your strength to harm and kill your own people,” Hecathe spoke with a scoff as he incited the man.
“Shut up!” Darius shouted and it seemed that there was not really a need to incite the man since he was already so furious.
So far, it seemed as if the two were really no match against Darius who was a bit abnormally strong. In fact, strength was this man’s ability that he had proudly been flaunting all his life so it was still impressive of the two to last against him for this long.
Darius kicked Marvin away and headed right for Hecathe as he tried to punch the man’s stomach with his full strength, but Hecathe pulled out Edler’s sword and once again struck the man’s neck right where he had previously struck and cracked the protective suit.
This time, Hecathe’s attack wasn’t futile as the blade grazed against the man’s neck and left behind a small wound that was slightly bleeding. However, he also suffered as he had sacrificed his own body to inflict such a small wound and in comparison to the wound that he had sustained, it seemed that although his attack wasn’t futile, it was still not an outcome that was worth it.
Thankfully his mecha suit had helped break the impact of the punch but Hecathe still groaned as he felt the painful jab.
The blade had only grazed his neck but Darius still looked to be a bit shocked and Marvin used this split second of shock as an opening for another attack.
He aimed for the man’s feet once again and with a swing of his saber, he tried to cut the man’s feet, however, the suit once again acted as a shield and protected the man.
“You dare!” Darius shouted as he glared down at Marvin and lifted his right foot to kick the boy off, but before he could even touch the boy, Hecathe also kicked the man’s shin and made him fall to his knees.
“Stop getting distracted!” Hecathe warned as he threw a punch at the man’s face and this time, Darius was not able to block nor avoid the fist.
From the impact alone, his head fell back and was about to hit the ground, but at that very second, Marvin lifted his leg and kicked the man’s head back up from behind, making Darius fall down flat on his face with great force.
For a second there, it almost looked as if Marvin and Hecathe were playing a game of soccer and Darius was the ball that got hit back and front.
“Hecathe, you can leave it up to me. Go after Asgarian before he runs away,” Marvin spoke as he stood up and held his double-bladed saber over the man’s head.
“Are you sure?” Hecathe asked as he raised his eyebrows and looked at the boy with a blank expression that was a bit hard to read through.
Marvin softly let out a small chuckle and nodded his head as he confirmed it and spoke, “I have some business to finish with him. Don’t worry.”
Hecathe smirked as he heard this and felt a little amused by the boy’s words. It seemed that Marvin was also no longer a naive boy who blinded trusted the three willows of spring. He had started to think on his own and now, without even needing to hear Hecathe spell it out for him, he was already able to realize a big secret.
“Make sure you don’t die while I’m away,” Hecathe spoke with a small smile before he turned around and walked away, heading out to find Asgarian who had already run away in hopes of escaping.
Although his words made it seem as if he didn’t believe in Marvin’s strength, in reality, it was just meant to tease the boy. He was more than well aware of the fact that Marvin was not going to lose in this war.
Marvin looked as if he was in a bad condition. In fact, if someone were to look at him at this moment, they would think the boy had already reached his limit, however, this was not true. He had not reached his limit, he had long surpassed his limit and at this moment, there was no energy left inside his body but he was still fighting with all he had. There was a fire inside him that motivated him to win and Hecathe trusted that fire because he was well aware of why that fire was burning so fiercly.
Marvin lifted his foot and kicked the back of Darius’ head, burying his head deeper into the ground.
“Till the end, you pretend as if you know nothing,” Marvin gritted out and at this moment, there was a glint of red in his eyes that could only be seen when the man was truly being driven mad with anger.
Such a glint was also seen the first time when Hecathe entered this world and it had surely managed to intimidate Hecathe.
“Asgarian is the one that wanted my father dead,” Marvin continued with a frown, “But how come he knew how to use Alphius’ mecha-suit. It simply does not add up.”
Darius seemed to have been able to hear this and the sound of his muffled laughter could be heard coming from below.
Marvin lifted his foot and tried to kick the man’s head once again, but this time, his foot was caught by Darius who was not going to let this boy kick him around anymore.
Darius lifted his head and turned around as he calmly spoke, “You want to defeat me alone? What a pity… With your friend here, you at least had a small chance of winning but now, I’m afraid you have already lost the chance to win this fight.”
Before Marvin could say anything as a response to that, the man twisted Marvin’s foot and dragged him forward, tripping him and making him fall with his whole body weight adding to the strength of the impact, focused only on his right shoulder.
“What the hell are you spouting, boy?” Darius questioned as he pushed himself off the ground, “Your father died because your best friend killed him.”
Marvin clenched his fist and immediately tried to stand up but was kicked on the center of his back, almost breaking his spine in the process.
“Nothing good comes out of falsely accusing us,” Darius continued to play innocent as he added with a sneer.
At this moment, shockingly enough, Marvin started laughing and Darius looked to be a little speechless as he heard the boy.
“Darius, did you hate my father?” Marvin questioned in between his laughter.
“Hate?” Darius tilted his head and scoffed as he kicked the boy’s head to the ground, “That’s not really the word I’d use for it.”
Darius didn’t lift his foot and held it against the boy’s head, keeping sure that the boy would not be able to lift his head.
“He was just like you,” Darius added and Marvin gritted his teeth as he heard this.
Marvin supported his body up with the help of his hand and slowly lifted his head, forcing the man to take off his foot from his head.
“You say we are alike?” Marvin gritted out as he didn’t bother turning to look at the man’s face.
Darius said nothing as a response to that and simply kicked the boy forward once again, however, this time, Marvin only took a few steps forward and didn’t let himself fall to the ground.
“You’re wrong if you think we are alike,” Marvin continued and his voice sounded oddly calm and intimidating at the same time, “He was a great man who trusted you people.”
Darius’ frown deepened as he heard this but he didn’t bother saying anything as he grabbed the boy’s shoulder and flipped him around before throwing a punch aimed right at his face.
Marvin didn’t avoid the attack and simply let the man hit him.
“He fought for justice. He was a hero who selflessly worked for the people. A hero that can never be replaced by another,” Marvin spat out a mouthful of blood but still didn’t stop talking, “If he were here, he would have stopped me. Even with everything that you have done wrong, he would have still shown you mercy. He was just that kind of a person.”
Darius gritted his teeth and once again threw a punch aiming for the boy’s face, however, this time, the punch did not land as his fist immediately paused right in front of the boy’s face
Darius’ eyebrows creased together in confusion and a bit of shock.
It seemed that just as Hecathe had guessed, Marvin had already surpassed his limits and now, it was almost impossible to beat him.
Marvin closed his eyes and took a sharp breath in before he spoke, “Asgarian might be the one that planned my father’s death, but you were the one that killed him.”
“You killed a hero that trusted you,” Marvin snapped his eyes open and suddenly, his eyes seemed to be glowing with a golden white blinding light.
“I am not like him.. I am not capable of the forgiveness and mercy that he showed.”
