The Legendary Pseudo-villain - Chapter 202
“Where do you think you’re running off to?” Hecathe asked with a chuckle as he casually whistled an unknown tune.
Asgarian snapped his head back to look at the man in horror as he stuttered, “H-how’d you get here…?!”
Hecathe tilted his head with a smile as he spoke, “It wasn’t really hard. A frightened rabbit always hides in its tiny little rabbit hole.”
Asgarian’s eyes trailed down to the sword that Hecathe was clutching onto and his complexion seemed to have turned white.
“Who are you?”
“Hmm…?”
“You are not Alphius, are you…?!”
Hecathe seemed to be a bit amused as he heard this question and so, he decided to spare a few minutes for a peaceful conversation as he asked back, “Why would you say that?”
“Because I was there!” Asgarian exclaimed as he defensively took a step back, “Marvin had killed him. When I checked, he was clearly dead. How can a corpse suddenly come back to life?! It doesn’t make any sense!”
This was the first time Hecathe was hearing this story, however, he wasn’t too shocked by it simply because he knew what type of man Asgarian was by now. In fact, even if this man were to reveal that he was the one who incited Marvin and made the boy kill his friend, Hecathe would still not be too shocked.
With a chuckle, Hecathe nodded his head as he spoke, “I see now. You were not shaken up by the fake rumor because you truly believed it to be right.”
Asgarian gulped as he heard this and Hecathe smirked.
“You had made sure both Alphius and Orgon were dead, however, one of the two turned out to be alive while the other was rumored to have come back to life,” Hecathe couldn’t help but be a little amused as he put the pieces together.
Who could have guessed that his plans would work out so well together? It was truly a wonder even for himself.
“So you hired someone to investigate and found out the truth!” Hecathe enthusiastically exclaimed, “That the Alphius who was alive and the Orgon whose soul had possessed the body of a young boy were not two different cases but the same.”
“Was I wrong?” Asgarian questioned sharply.
“Of course, you were!” Hecathe chuckled, almost looking as if he was mocking the man, “How could I be the great Orgon? If I were him, would your head still be attached to your neck?”
As if on instinct, Asgarian covered his neck, and Hecathe couldn’t help but want to laugh as he saw the man’s terrified eyes.
“I have heard a lot about you,” Hecathe spoke as he shook his head, “Maybe that’s why I’m so disappointed as I see you right now. You remind me of a terrified rat that is about to die from a heart attack and it makes me absolutely furious to think that such a rat was the cause of Alphius’ death.”
“What the hell is there to be afraid of? Why would you go and commit all those crimes when you were going to be this afraid of retribution?!” Hecathe snapped.
“Of course, I’d be afraid! I don’t even know what type of monster you are! You come out of nowhere and possess the body of a dead boy! How can I not be afraid?!”
“…” This time, Hecathe was truly a bit stunned as he heard the man. Admitting to fear your opponent in a fight was really like placing your throat in front of your enemy’s sword without any plan.
From the man’s response, Hecathe’s disappointment just became immeasurable.
“And even that backstabbing b*tch abandoned me!” Asgarian fumed as he clenched his fist, “If it were not for me, she would have died without anyone ever knowing she even existed!”
Hecathe was about to kill the man but he once again decided to delay it a bit as he leisurely leaned back on the wall and asked, “What are you talking about it? Care to let me in on this interesting backstory?”
Asgarian gritted his teeth as he heard this and opened his mouth to say something but immediately stopped and took a deep breath in as he changed his mind and his words along with it, “I can see the end.”
“Huh?”
“It is already over for me so I might as well tell you,” Asgarian sighed and Hecathe patiently waited to listen more, “Lara was the daughter of Dorka’s brother.”
Hecathe felt a little surprised at first but then a minute passed and the surprised feeling changed into confusion as he questioned, “Did she have a sister?”
Asgarian shook his head as he spoke, “She was the only child and she inherited her father’s ability to read minds.”
“Wait… What?!” Hecathe’s eyebrows creased together and he couldn’t help but feel as if this man was spouting nonsense, “Wasn’t LeiLei the daughter…?!”
“That girl?” Asgarian scoffed, “She isn’t even real.”
Hecathe gulped and repeated the man’s words in his head just to make sure whether he had heard it right or not.
“What do you mean?” Hecathe’s eyes dangerously narrowed down on the man.
“LeiLei is nothing more than Lara’s-” His words were suddenly cut short as his hands reached up to his neck and snapped it without any hesitation.
“I was planning on waiting to see what happens but it seems that I must personally interrupt and remind him that it’s bad to talk behind someone’s back,” An annoyed voice of a familiar girl came and Hecathe immediately lifted his head up to look at the two girls who had emerged from the shadows.
“You…!” Hecathe muttered as his muscles immediately tensed up.
Lara smiled as she heard this and nodded her head, “It makes me happy to know that you remember my name.”
“…” Hecathe could surely not say the same.
“At the same time, it also upsets me to know that you are not following the plan,” Lara continued with a sigh.
Hecathe had no interest in hearing her words so his eyes trailed behind the girl and landed on LeiLei who looked to be her usual self.
“Who are you?” Hecathe suddenly interrupted Lara’s words as he looked at LeiLei and questioned.
LeiLei said nothing as a response and kept glaring at the man while Lara got a little offended by the fact that she was being ignored.
“You’re clearly not the LeiLei I know,” Hecathe gritted out.
Once again, there was no reaction from LeiLei but Lara surely laughed as she heard his words.
“What are you talking about, Alphius? She is exactly the same girl that you know,” Lara spoke with a smirk, “It’s just that you never paid attention to know the real her.”
Hecathe’s eyes twitched as he heard this but he didn’t say anything.
“You should’ve looked closer,” Lara continued with a teasing tone, “You should’ve paid more attention to the things she did.”
Suddenly the girl took out a small diary from her pocket and Hecathe couldn’t help but recognize it as Alphius’ diary that he had continued writing on.
“If you had paid more attention, perhaps we wouldn’t have ended up here.”
“What the hell are you really trying to do?” Hecathe questioned angrily as he glared at the girl.
“Me? I’m doing exactly what you’re doing,” Lara chuckled, “I’m getting my revenge on the man who killed my father.”
Hecathe didn’t know what type of sick joke this was but it was certainly not funny.
Compared to Asgarian, Lara was a lot more calm and confident with everything she said and did. Both were willows of spring and yet, Hecathe couldn’t help but feel as if this girl was on an entirely different level than that scared rat.
She opened the diary and sang, “Although I must say that you have left quite a deep impression on my mind.”
Hecathe frowned as he heard this and he could already guess that he would not be liking what he was about to hear.
“You don’t even belong to this world and yet, you try to flip it around. You are living in the body of a boy who was supposed to die as a villain and yet you try to make him the hero who avenges the great Orgon’s death. Even that damned Dorgon that I sent you… Somehow, you managed to change that creature’s mind. It would be a lie to say that I am not impressed.”
“In fact, for a second there, even I was left contemplating whether you really were the great Orgon who had come back from the gates of the afterlife,” Lara added with a chuckle, “Do you know where the name Orgon comes from?”
Hecathe shook his head with a frown.
“There is no evidence to prove that Dorgon’s can be controlled by men but that is not because there had been no one who could control it,” Lara smirked as she spoke, “It is simply because of the lack of evidence. In reality, there have been accounts of Dorgon’s being controlled by humans.”
Hecathe gulped as he heard this and his eyebrows drew closer together as he felt a little shocked and lost.
“It’s just that there is only one family that is said to have such an amazing gift,” Lara sighed out, “And that family has been purposefully keeping it as a secret.”
