The Lords Genes - Chapter 1 The Mysterious Book
Genetics is the origin of life for all living things, they consist of all the information necessary for life. On the planet of humans mother earth, there were some humans who possessed transcendent might and were named by the vast majority of humanity as gods.
The genes of gods such as Greece’s Zeus to Thor of Asgard from Norse mythology, modern humans have could inherit them. If one wanted to become an interstellar cultivator, the first thing one must do is to awaken his or her own set of mythological genes and obtain transcendent strength…
Throughout the eons from the time of the interstellar movement, humanity brought forth great technology which enabled them to introduce Mechas’. These Mechas’ used the energy of interstellar cultivators and grew along with them as their gene scores increase, while some still prefer to use their own bodies and weapons to fight.
This split humanity into two branches: Cultivators and Mecha Pilots, each with a base located in every city.

According to Interstellar History, in the Gregorian Calendar year of 2350 A.D., humans finally left the bird cage known as the planet Earth and began to colonize the solar system.
To commemorate this, mankind changed calendars. They abandoned the Gregorian Calendar of the Ancient Earth Era and pushed the calendar to be more in line with cosmic time. It has been over four thousand years since that time.
In a classroom full of futuristic technological sensations, a group of uniformed students was currently attending a theory class on mythological genes.
A holographic projection hovered in front of everyone, and the content of the lesson flowed into their minds like a torrent of information.
A female teacher looked around and nodded seeing how serious her students were. However, her head stopped as she gazed at a certain student whose eyes glistened with light as he focused on the lesson like no other.
Seeing this she sighed as she looked at the student with looks of pity for the young man she looked at ranked near the end in his entire year, meaning his chances of cultivation or being a mecha pilot were almost nonexistent.
This was all due to his poor talent. To awaken one’s mythological genes, talent was undoubtedly required.
Although people in the Interstellar Era could all awaken their genes, there was still a large disparity between the set of genes that they awakened.
There were some genes that were completely useless and might even have adverse effects after being awakened. For example, a human growing a monkey tail, black fur, or being able to breathe fire.
As for some other genes, humanity would begin to transcend themselves once the genes were awakened, they would be able to control the wind, rain, thunder, magnetic force, and gravity… They would become extraordinary creatures capable of controlling mysterious energy sources. For these genes that would benefit humanity, these were known as the legendary mythological genes.
However, the knowledge of the ancient humans was lost in time, and legends, as well as mythology, has stranded far from its original tale. This stopped humans from achieving their dreams of becoming Immortals, however, they still cultivated regardless of this in hopes to become a god.
Undoubtedly, genes were the greatest talent humanity had. With the introduction of mecha’s that can utilize the genes of their pilots, many begun to split between the two core occupations though, both lead to a single path; Immortality!
This young man Yang Jian, the genes he had awakened were low tiered which only gave him a third eye. Recently, it was rumored that he somehow awakened another set of genes just before the college entrance exam. The second set of genes he awakened was a decent gene but also one of the most basic kind, known as the Weapon Mastery Gene.
According to research by world-famous scientists, his genes had no way of evolving which means they will forever stay that way and is considered to be almost trash tier.
That wasn’t the worst part, Yang Jian’s Gene Score is merely 0.3 which is far off from the minimum score of 0.6 to enter college. He is already in his senior year of high school and about to graduate however he may not even have the qualifications to take the exam if it did not reach 0.5!
Though he paid the most attention in class, Yang Jian’s potential was mediocre hence the sighs of pity by the female teacher. A higher Gene Score improves a person’s body strength, agility, durability and even ability to memorize and process things faster
With Yang Jian’s Gene Score of a mere 0.3, his results in both the physical mock exams are near the bottom. No matter how hard he worked, his results will forever be the same if not worse. Talent isn’t something that can be gained through hard work.
Even though his written exam scores were near the top, it meant nothing if he couldn’t get a strong enough Gene Score to even take the college exam.
“Sigh, the heavens are truly unfair, a diligent student such as Yang Jian has such mediocre talent whilst lazy students who don’t even bother to turn up have a Gene Score of over 0.8,” the female teacher thought as she continued her lesson.
…
The lesson ended quickly as all the students went off with their friends, whilst Yang Jian quietly goes home by himself.
Yang Jian’s family of five was a branch family of one of the Capital’s four major families namely the Yang’s. His family that once lived in a large mansion was kicked out from the branch family after giving birth to two mediocre son’s and one daughter who had good genes, however, the family didn’t need any female leaders.
As he walked by a market, Yang Jian noticed an old beggar wearing rags who was about to be hit by a car. Even though humanity had moved into an interstellar era, their problems didn’t change. Families still lived in the slums whilst government officials leeched money from laborers.
Seeing this, Yang Jian dropped his bag and sprinted with all his might towards the old man. When he arrived, Yang Jian quickly pulled the man back towards him as the car drives past without sounding its horn as though it was natural.
Huff! Huff!
“Old man, are you okay?” Yang Jian asked.
“Thank you kind young man, I didn’t think there were any more youngsters like you.” the old man replied.
“Kind? Anyone would have saved you if they saw that, I just happened to be there first,” Yang Jian continued.
“Hahahaha, that in itself is fate. Since fate has brought us together, let me give you this treasure of mine as gratitude.” the old man said as he pulled out an old book that looked like it had survived through thousands of years to this day and handed it to Yang Jian.
Yang Jian, of course, declined, however, the old man insisted as he pushed the book into his hands.
Yang Jian who held the book was about to look up at the old man and say something only to find that he had disappeared without a trace. Looking around left and right for a while, he thought he had seen a ghost, however, the book was still in his hands.
Holding the book in his arms, Yang Jian went to pick up his bag as he headed home.
Once he arrived home, his family was nowhere to be seen. Yang Jian’s family lived in a small house with three rooms, one for his parents, one for him and one for his little sister. Yang Jian being the second son lived in the smallest room whilst his elder brother Yang Jiao worked as a laborer and lived by himself.
Though the house was small, it still had a training room underneath that was fully equipped. Yang Jian went to his room and took a quick shower before changing into his training clothing as he took the book to the training room.
Inside the training room, Yang Jian trained by doing some basic exercises such as a thousand push-ups, a thousand sit-ups, a thousand squats as well as running twenty laps inside the training room which was equal to over five kilometers.
After the light exercise, he sat down on a bench with a one hundred and fifty-kilo dumbbell in one hand, then decided to read the book given to him. Looking at the cover of the book, he saw a pitch-black cover with no words and had some tears in the corners and spine while the pages were all brown and golden due to the passing of time.
Moving his right hand to flip open the cover, Yang Jian’s head suddenly started hurting and made him faint instantly.
…
Yang Jian slowly woke up in a pitch-black space with no signs of light anywhere. His body floated in the space for a while before a blue screen appeared in front of him. Reading the screen, it said, ‘Begin’ and had two options namely ‘Yes’ or ‘No’
Yang Jian naturally pressed yes without thinking.
Woosh!
[Scanning]
[Scanning]
[Scanning: 10%]
[Scanning: 40%]
[Scanning Complete]
Blue screens kept appearing in front of his face and disappeared within seconds, then suddenly his head started hurting once again, this time, however, it was bearable so Yang Jian did not faint.
Woosh!
Within his mind, a torrent of information from an ancient era appeared inside his mind all at once, information about ancient mythology from Earth before the Interstellar Era as well as information of cultivation that was thought to only appear in novels also appeared inside his head as though it had always been there.
Opening his eyes, Yang Jian thought as he explored the vast information contained inside his brain “This book… What are its true origins? That old man too, did he purposely give me the book knowing this would happen?”
After processing all the information, Yang Jian woke up from the space and appeared in the training room of his house. Looking around, he didn’t notice any difference before looking at the time [4:13 pm]
“So it hasn’t even been a minute since I fainted?” he thought.
“Anyways, according to this information, the path to Immortality isn’t a dream! If I were to use this, I can become the first to Ascend in over four thousand years!”
Suddenly, Yang Jian’s third eye started twitching and became itchy. Focusing on his third eye, Yang Jian saw his entire body that appeared to be like a vast galaxy! Within that galaxy, multiple small dots were greyed out whilst in between them, two dots were bright red.
Looking closely at the two red dots, Yang Jian realized they were his two awakened genes namely the Third Eye Gene and the Weapon Mastery Gene!
When he closed his third eye, he realized he could control the eye freely like the other two eyes. Whilst he wasn’t paying attention, a screen appeared in front of him that said;
===========
Name: Yang Jian
Gene Score: 0.3
Eye Gene: 2
Weapon Gene: 1
Gene Points: 10
===========
“Huh, what’s this? A status board? This isn’t a video game! It’s reality! Wait no this is a novel…” Yang Jian exclaimed.
“Gene points? Could they be like skill points in a video game? That means there must be a skill tree that I can put my points into…”
“But why are my genes recorded in numerical data?” Yang Jian continued to think.
To awaken the potential of one’s genes, the cultivation of genetic points was required. There were three aspects to it: Awakening, Strengthening, and Evolving.
Gene awakening was the stage in which genes changed from recessive state to a dominant state.
When the gene awakened, it controlled the life elements of the human body and produced new organs and abilities. If one were to awaken Fire Genes, they would, of course, be able to control fire or if they awakened Ice Genes then they would control ice and further on.
To strengthen genes, one would either consume food containing a mysterious substance that can strengthen genes or cultivate by doing breathing exercises which were thought to only exist in novels.
Once a gene is strengthened enough, it would be able to evolve naturally and couldn’t be forced. Once genes evolve, the person would be able to cultivate to a higher realm and become closer to Immortality.
Looking once again at the dimmed dots inside his body, he realized they were all genes inside his body that haven’t awakened! Meaning if he were to awaken them and evolve them, he would be able to be an unrivaled figure!
However, this would be in the far future, as right now, Yang Jian had barely strengthened his current two genes. Focusing his thought, Yang Jian looked through his memory for a breathing exercise that let him strengthened his genes and increase his Gene Score.
After searching for a while, he managed to find a technique that not only strengthened his genes and increased his gene score, it also enabled him to slowly gather more gene points as well as cultivate a different kind of energy known to humanity as Qi!
His dreams of being able to ride on a flying sword was possible! Immediately, Yang Jian sat crossed legged and begun reciting the words of the technique as his body begun gathering qi from the planet, ground, and the universe.
