The Lords Genes - Chapter 10 Little Black Dog Ii
Thump! Thump!
A small tremor was heard. In an unknown planet, a small black dog could be seen dashing in a singular direction. Not too far away, a young man with distinctive features was seen following the little dog.
The little black dog didn’t seem to mind that it was being tailed, since it kept moving at a constant pace. The young man followed it, while maintaining the distance so that others beside the little black dog wouldn’t notice him.
Even though this was the case, the speed at which he moved destroyed the entire point of it. While he moved, small tremors and sonic booms could be heard anywhere he passed by.
Deep footprints were left behind on the ground with every step he took, leaving a road of destruction in his wake. After a while, the little black dog stopped dashing. The young man, who was obviously Yang Jian stopped running as well.
Looking ahead, he saw some humans that seemed to be prisoners, being hunted by a large beast. The large beast had a strange form that didn’t resemble an animal or a race known by the universal collection.
Since that’s the case, it could only be a void beast. The thing he found strange, was that there was a void beast on the planet he was on. Normally, void beasts only appeared in groups if they were to invade a planet and destroy its inhabitants.
He didn’t see any others while searching around the entire time. This either meant something was going on, or his searching range wasn’t wide enough to find the others.
“Since there are prisoners here, it’s obvious that this is part of the exam. Though the appearance of a void beast may not be part of it. Unless, the federation had caught it alive and imprisoned it on this planet.” Yang Jian thought.
The void beast didn’t seem too strong. Just by looking at it, he felt that it was only comparable to those with a Gene score of slightly more than 1.2. Since the prisoners were running, it meant that they weren’t that strong either.
Based on these clues, Yang Jian thought that there should be stronger foes hiding in wait for the examinees, otherwise the condition of survival would be too easy to fulfil.
With their backs against a wall, the prisoners had no choice but to fight back. The only weapons they had were the chains on their arms in which they had broken off in order to escape the prison.
The little black dog simply waited it out, so that it could use this opportunity and take out both sides at the same time. The prisoners that numbered roughly a dozen, charged at the void beast with their weapons.
The void beast roared, as it swung an arm, which wiped out half the prisoners in an instant. Their bodies were sliced in half, while those that survived were injured gravely.
While its back was turned away, the little black dog changed form and leaped into the fray. A devastating howl was unleashed from its body, which paralysed both the void beast and the prisoners.
The little black dog jumped towards the prisoners in the flash of an eye. The surviving prisoners had been killed while large claw marks could be seen on their chests.
After eliminating the prisoners, the little black dog turned to face the void beast. Even after a few moments, the void beast still was paralysed by the howl from the little dog. The little dog leaped into the air and bit onto the void beast.
As it was bitten, the void beast cried as it could finally move again. Even though it was moving, its movements were slowing down, while ifs vitality seemed to be drained.
“It seems like anything that gets bitten will pretty much lose their life in a matter of seconds.” Yang Jian thought.
A few moments later, the huge void beast stopped moving and dropped to the ground. Its once huge body was now only half its original size, and was still shrinking at a rapid pace, while the little black dog’s aura was getting stronger.
Since it had just killed a fairly strong monster which also happened to be large, the little black dog took a little longer than it did to devour the void beast than it did so for other beasts.
After it devoured the void beast, it devoured the prisoners, before returning to its humble form. By now, its strength was greater than before and even a level above Yang Jian’s own strength.
With his own thoughts, his Gene score was now 1.0, while his genes were also perfect grade. With his immortal cultivation at the Body tempering stage three, he predicted that he could fight against even those with a score of 1.8 or more, depending on the grade of their genes.
Even then, he felt that the little black dog was stronger than him, meaning it was comparable to those with a gene score of at least 2.0. Once it finished devouring the prisoners, the little black dog sniffed around for a bit, before following its nose.
Yang Jian followed it, and arrived at a cave which was hidden behind a large row of trees and various plants. The cave was neither big nor small, while no light entered or left the cave.
When he entered, he took out a torch and placed it down. By now, he didn’t think of the little black dog anymore and sat down for a meal. He lit a flame and ate some food he had stored previously, before closing his eyes.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Within Yang Jian’s mind, he could tell that the cave he was in wasn’t an ordinary cave. While other places didn’t contain much qi in the environment, the cave that the little black dog found was extremely rich in qi.
This meant that Yang Jian could absorb more qi into his body and progress faster in his immortal cultivation. Since this was the case, he stopped cultivating for gene points and focused all of it into immortal cultivation, this was another secret he discovered by accident one day during his daily cultivation.
With the amount of qi in the cave, he predicted that he would be able to make a breakthrough to the Body tempering stage four very soon. Yang Jian’s body acted like a vacuum, that crazily devoured the rich qi within the cave.
The absorbed qi went into his meridians, before flowing around his body into his flesh, bones and tendons. Slowly, he could feel his body becoming stronger yet again. Once he made a breakthrough, his strength would be a level higher, enabling him to battle even stronger foes.
After an entire day of absorbing the qi, Yang Jian finally made a breakthrough to the next stage. He didn’t stop there though, he continued to sit crossed-legged and continued to devour as much qi as his body could take.
After an entire week passed by, Yang Jian made a breakthrough to the Body tempering stage five. Once he did so, he got up and no longer absorbed the qi. After spending so long, the essence and the vitality of the qi was reduced all in a short time frame.
Yang Jian now felt much stronger than he had been before. He was now confident that he could fight the little black dog to a standstill. During the past week, all of his attention was focused on cultivating, he didn’t pay attention to the little black dog at all at the time.
Suddenly, while he was feeling proud of himself, he recalled something critical. Since he was busy getting stronger, the little black dog would’ve done the same. Since a week had passed, it should be even stronger now.
Speaking of the little black dog, Yang Jian noticed it enter the cave and stare at him. He also noticed the things it had brought into the cave, which included training suits and warframes that were either slightly damaged, or completely broken down.
The little black dog moved back and glanced at him. As if he understood what it meant, Yang Jian stored the things it had gathered into his dimension space. Once he did so, the little black dog seemed to be telling him to follow it.
The little black dog dashed outside the cave, leaving Yang Jian to follow it from behind. Now that he had made two consecutive breakthroughs, Yang Jian was much faster than before.
Even then, the little black dog seemed to have no trouble leaving him behind while it kept dashing at a constant speed.
While he was chasing after the little dog, Yang Jian wondered when the exam would finish. The major only said to survive, but didn’t state how long, or when they would be picked up and how.
Since he was still there after a week, he assumed that he either missed the return date, or the exam was still in progress. Running through the jungle, he searched around with his third eye, but didn’t notice any humans or beasts around.
“This is a vast planet afterall, the chances of running into other examinees is pretty low.” he thought.
After three hours of running, the little black dog finally slowed down and hid. Yang Jian followed and hid nearby, as he looked ahead.
“… this little dog sure has a good nose, anytime something is fighting or there’s treasure, it can smell it out.” Yang Jian thought.
Ahead of them, were a group of prisoners. The prisoners numbered roughly thirty, while they seemed to be in control of some beasts. The beasts weren’t that strong individually, but since there were as many as double the number of prisoners, the group was still fairly strong.
Nearby, the escaped prisoners all smiled as they glanced at the soldiers in front of them. The soldiers who had been caught by the prisoners all wore military uniforms, but didn’t seem to be strong.
Even though they were the hunters, the hunted had hunted them instead. The soldiers had little numbers, while all but one were injured. The man who was injured the most was obviously their leader, who also happened to be the strongest of the group.
“Hehehe, how does it feel to be grouped up against? Now you old dogs of the federation know what it feels like.” the prisoner who stood in the middle of the group sneered.
“Bah, if you’re gonna kill, then just do it. Why the need to speak nonsense? Even if you kill us, there’s no way you can escape from here. The Federal University is holding their entrance exam right now, if they find you, you’re as good as dead.” the injured leader spat.
“Already at death’s door, and talking like that still. Well, soon you’ll know what it’s like to be beast food. You all can stay alive for a little bit longer, if you want to survive, get us a spaceship that will guarantee our escape.” the prisoner leader replied before walking away.
“Keep an eye on them.” he uttered at the end.
As the prisoners walked away to rest, a strange sound could be heard.
Pop!
Out of nowhere, one of the prisoners had his chest pierced through, dying on the spot.
Bang!
Another body fell to the ground soon after.
Roar!
The prisoners and the beasts all gathered together and faced every direction, as though they had trained for this.
“Who’s there? Come out and fight us, don’t hide like a coward and face us!”
One of the prisoners noticed a small object on the ground dyed in blood, not far away from him. As he bent down to pick it up, he shouted.
“Boss! It was a stone! A stone did it!”
In his hand, was a small stone covered in the blood and flesh of his fellow escapee. From far away, someone had thrown the stone at the prisoners and killed them. Since they knew this, the prisoners knew that it was someone powerful who had stopped them.
“Hahaha I wonder which powerful senior is here? My name is Duan Huan, would your esteemed self come out and make a deal with us?” the leader of the prisoners, who’s name was Duan Huan spoke loudly.
Silence filled the area. Suddenly, the sound of something passed by and grazed his cheeks, killing more of his comrades, as well as the beasts that were under their control.
“Esteemed sir, please. If we can do anything for you, please state your wish, we will do anything as long as you let us go.” Duan Huan hurriedly spoke after wiping the blood from his cheek.
In the bushes nearby, a small dog which had a body that was completely black, while its eyes were white. The small dog simply glanced at them, while the beasts became uncontrollable.
“What’s going on? It couldn’t be that this dog had thrown the stones, that means its owner is nearby. Just by making its appearance, the beasts we worked so hard to control, are getting rowdy. Could they be scared?” Duan Huan thought.
“Calm down, control your beasts, don’t let them break free.” Duan Huan shouted to his comrades. The prisoners tried to keep the situation under control, some of them failed and were instead killed by the beasts that they had been controlling.
While this all happened, Yang Jian walked out from the bush he was hiding in and confronted the escaped prisoners.
