The Lords Genes - Chapter 3 Displaying Strength
The next day, Yang Jian’s class had physical education, not only that, they will record everyone’s Gene Score which means the rankings in their year would soon change.
Once they arrived at the gymnasium, the PE teacher ordered everyone to run ten laps before the examination begun. After a minute or two, everyone came back with some breathing heavily while others didn’t even break a sweat. This naturally included Yang Jian which the PE teacher noticed but didn’t say anything.
“We will now begin, first off we will be checking everyone’s Gene Score and see how much progress you have all made since the last exam. We will be going by roll order so standing in line!” the PE teacher shouted loudly.
Gene Scores could be examined by being scanned by a machine called a Gene Teller. With just a few seconds of lights flashing on you, the machine records your Gene Score which everyone will be able to see and automatically create a ranking.
Woosh! Woosh!
After scanning a few students, the average Gene Score was 0.3 which disappointed the PE teacher greatly. Until it became Kong Bo’s turn, with a Gene Score of 0.9 it had increased since the last time by 0.1 making him a top candidate to enter a good college and become either an Interstellar Cultivator or a Mecha Pilot.
“Whoa, 0.9! Kong Bo is incredible! Too bad he has a rotten personality.” a student with a 0.3 gene score whispered.
“Shhh, if he hears you, you’ll bring trouble for yourself!” a student with a 0.2 gene score replied.
After a while later, another good Gene Score came up within the class.
[Lei Fang: 0.6]
“Nice! Lei Fang is the second strongest in our class after Kong Bo! If he can reach 0.7 by the time of the exam he will be able to enter a good college as well!” someone shouted.
“Good, good.” the PE teacher nodded.
After going through a majority of the class, it was finally Yang Jian’s turn. The PE teacher looked at Yang Jian and thought “Did I imagine it? He didn’t break a sweat before after running ten laps which covered a distance of over five kilometers. Sure every 0.1 difference in gene score meant that they were double the strength and other parameters of a regular human from the ancient era, however, to be able to finish it in just a minute and not break a sweat, his gene score would surely be high.”
“But last time it was merely 0.3 how can this be?”
Yang Jian walked through the Gene Teller as it recorded his Gene Score, after walking out from the other side, the holographic monitor displayed his gene score.
[Yang Jian: 0.6]
“…”
“…”
“Looks like I was right about him.” the PE teacher thought.
As for his class…
“What?!” x 3
“How is this possible!?”
“His Gene Score was merely 0.3 last time! How can it be 0.6 now!?” someone shouted.
“Merely 0.3? It’s higher than yours!” another student shouted back.
Yang Jian thought internally while ignoring everyone else around him, “Hmm so it really is 0.6. Using all those points got me an increase of 0.3, in the future I’ll need a bunch of points for every 0.1 increase.”
Lei Fang who had just been second place fell on his butt when he saw that his place had been taken by Yang Jian. As for Kong Bo, he thought “0.6? No wonder he could catch my punch last time. But it’s still lower than mine, I’ll crush him in a fight!”
After Yang Jian’s turn, the rest of the class scored from 0.2 to 0.4 which meant that they had hardly improved since the last time, making the PE teacher shake his head and sigh deeply.
…
After the Gene Score examination, it was time to test everyone’s parameters which mostly consisted of strength and speed. The first test was speed, where everyone is to sprint as fast as they could for a distance of a hundred meters while being timed.
The students who scored from 0.2 to 0.4 all went first, they all had records varying from five to eight seconds. Once it became Kong Bo, Lei Fang, and Yang Jian’s turn, they took the test in that same order.
[Kong Bo: 4.23 seconds]
[Lei Fang: 4.97 seconds]
[Yang Jian: 3.51 seconds]
“What? Yang Jian is faster than Kong Bo even with a lower Gene Score?”
“Is this really possible?” someone asked.
“Of course it is! Do you even pay attention in class? Yang Jian probably awakened a speed or agility type gene!” one of the students who had a gene score of 0.5 shouted.
“Ah right, how could I forget, hahaha.” the previous student laughed while embarrassed with his question.
Kong Bo walked up to Yang Jian and said, “Don’t get cocky just because you’re faster than me. During the strength test, you’ll see.”
“Right…” Yang Jian replied.
Clap! Clap!
“Alright, shut up and get ready for the next test! Move along!” the PE teacher shouted once again.
The second test is based on strength, a machine records their strength once the student punches it. A number is displayed showing their strength in tons.
Just like before, every student went first whilst Kong Bo, Lei Fang, and Yang Jian went last.
Kong Bo smiled creepily at Yang Jian then walked up to the machine and punched it.
[0.6]
[0.7]
[0.8]
A score of 0.8 meant that Kong Bo’s punch carried a force of eight hundred kilos! Even with a Gene Score of 0.9, if one didn’t awaken a strength type gene they wouldn’t be able to have such power!
After Kong Bo’s turn, it was Lei Fang’s turn. He too punched it three times and scored 0.3,0.4 and 0.5. Considering his Gene Score this is a good score meaning Lei Fang too, awakened a strength type gene even if it was much weaker than Kong Bo’s.
Now it was Yang Jian’s turn, walking up to the machine, he punched it once.
[2.5]
He then punched it again.
[2.5]
Once again, he punched for the third time.
[2.5]
“…”
“Yang Jian… He scored 2.5? That means his punch weighs over twenty-five hundred kilos!!! How can he score that much higher than Kong Bo who boasts a gene score of 0.9 and has a strength type gene!?” a student yelled.
The PE teacher, on the other hand, thought, “2.5 with a Gene Score of 0.6? That’s not all, he scored the same score three times in a row, could he still be holding back? How can it be possible to have that much strength with a Gene Score of less than 1? Even those with a Gene Score of over 1.3 wouldn’t be able to score that high!”
The man himself, Yang Jian didn’t think too much of it as he looked at his fists.
Kong Bo standing not so far away screamed, “Impossible!”
As for Lei Fang, he had given up and kneeled on the ground as if all hope had been lost. Luckily he remembered that he was still third place in the class which meant that he still had a chance to gain some benefits from the school.
“The machine must be broken! Find a new machine!” Kong Bo shouted at the PE teacher.
Frowning, the PE teacher shouted back at him “Broken your f*cking mother! Even if it’s not the latest model, it’s still regularly maintained meaning there’s no room for error!”
“Then how do you explain a f*cking 2.5! As far as I’m concerned that’s impossible for anyone with less than a Gene Score of close to 2!” Kong Bo lashed out again.
“How the f*ck do I know? Do I look like a god to you? I’m just a regular PE teacher! Now sit the hell down before I make you!” the PE teacher threatened him.
Yang Jian couldn’t take it anymore and stopped them “Um if you’re not satisfied how about a duel?” he suggested.
“A duel? Hahahaha, that’s exactly what I want! I’ll show prove that the damn machine is broken!” Kong Bo replied with a disgusting grin on his face.
“Alright then, everyone stand back. I’ll be the referee when I say stop you must stop!” the PE teacher shouted.
“Roger.” Yang Jian said as the entire class moves to the dueling area made specifically for students to fight during school time.
…
Facing the gorilla Kong Bo, Yang Jian looked like a small peasant trying to go against its king. Kong Bo made the first move and sprinted towards Yang Jian while gathering his strength in one arm as he came closer.
Meanwhile, Yang Jian stood there and waited for Kong Bo to arrive, “Hahaha, what an idiot standing there and letting me hit him.” the latter sneered as he punched out at Yang Jian’s body.
Grabs.
With a flicker of his hand, Yang Jian blocked Kong Bo’s fist with his index finger whilst all the impact dispersed around his body.
“What?! No, no, no! This is impossible!” Kong Bo shouted as he swung his other arm at Yang Jian’s chest.
Bang!
Kong Bo’s arm shot backward as the sound of bones breaking resounded throughout the arena. Silence stills the arena for a few moments before the voice of a man cries out, “Arg! My hand!”
The bones in Kong Bo’s hand shattered like glass whilst Yang Jian stood still in the same spot and looked as immovable as a mountain as he stared into the eyes of Kong Bo, instilling fear into his mind.
The class all got riled up as some students started yelling “Yang Jian! Yang Jian! Yang Jian!” as Kong Bo is carried away by the PE teacher who suspended the class until further notice.
…
“It hurts!” Kong Bo shouted while on a hospital bed.
“Son who did this to you?” a man with similar looks to Kong Bo wearing a suit asked his son.
“Yang… Jian…” Kong Bo muttered before falling asleep.
Grabbing his phone, Kong Bo’s father dialed a number before saying “Give me information on a brat called Yang Jian. I want it within three days.”
The person on the other side of the phone replied promptly “Yes sir, Master Kong.” before hanging up.
…
As for Yang Jian, he casually went home after breaking Kong Bo’s fist and cultivated peacefully. During his cultivation, Yang Jian realized he was about to make a breakthrough to the second layer of the Body Tempering realm after tempering another twenty or so bones and tendons in his body.
Once he gathered the required qi, he directly breakthrough to the next level bringing his physical body and strength up a notch.
“Great, I made a breakthrough. Let’s see how many gene points I have right now.” he thought.
========
Name: Yang Jian
Gene Score: 0.6
Eye Gene: 4
Warrior Gene: 4
Frost Gene: 1
Gene Points: 17
=========
“Phew, I already gained 17 points huh? Let’s see upgrading my Eye and Warrior Genes cost 2 points per level up to 7 whilst the rest cost 3 points per level. Seems like increasing its tier doesn’t cost a single point though,” he thought.
Yang Jian then upgraded his two genes evenly making them both level 8 and was left with just a single point left.
========
Name: Yang Jian
Gene Score: 0.7
Eye Gene: 8
Warrior Gene: 7
Frost Gene: 1
Gene Points: 1
========
After increasing his genes, Yang Jian felt a huge change within his body. His muscles became more toned and sturdier and he even gained a few centimeters in height! As for increasing his Eye gene, he felt a larger amount of energy contained within his forehead that is different from qi and genetic cultivation energy.
When he finished increasing his genes, he realized that after 5 points in a single gene, the amount that went towards his Gene Score was lowered. According to his calculations, he would need both the Eye Gene and the Warrior Gene to have 10 points each if he wanted to have a Gene Score of exactly 1.0.
Opening his third eye, Yang Jian did a weird pose before using it to control some objects in his room, making them float.
“Oh, nice! Now let’s try some other things.” he thought as he controlled the objects to attack and move around as fast or slow as he wanted them using a single thought.
Next, he grabbed a piece of paper and threw it into the air before firing his electrokinesis energy at the piece of paper.
Woosh! Zap!
Instantly, the piece of paper that was once gliding slowly through the air, vaporized into nothing without leaving any ashes behind.
“Hmm that’s a little dangerous let’s not use it on humans.” he thought.
