The Mafia’s Rose Married The CEO - Chapter 465
Over the next few days, the rest of the Qing family and their team were keeping their guards up. Qing Chen also commanded for the members of Enigma to litter the streets. They had to make sure that La Hiena was getting under their nose again.
Project: Mafia Wars was holding the fort intact.
The name suċkėd, they all agreed on it except for Wuming. They tried changing the name into something that less hinted damage, but the name already stuck. So Project: Mafia Wars it was.
Feng Xuan went back to the office to manage the finances. They had to do it discreetly and carefully. Nobody needed the World Bank and the government up their ȧsses. They were about to release a huge load of money to pay everybody to keep their mouth shut. They could not have their most trusted contacts dropping out on them in this most crucial time.
“It’s irritating you, isn’t it?” he asked his wife who had huge books in front of her, her trained eye not letting one entry escape.
“Yeah,” she laughed. “It does.”
Qing Chen had been pressing his retractable pen multiple times in a second. He was trying to think. “Why has there been nothing?” he could not help but voice this thought aloud. “He said he would be coming for us. But he’s not here yet. It’s been nine days.”
“Maybe it was all empty threats.”
“I sure hope he’s getting ready,” Qing Chen whispered only loud enough for his wife to hear. “I’d like to chop his head off.” Mainly because Qing Chen did not want to engage in something like this but La Hiena was forcing his hand.
“Or maybe,” he theorized, “he’s waiting for us. But there’s no way I’m going to drag everybody to whichever land La Hiena is housing in.”
“Maybe you could just wait each other out.”
Qing Chen grinned at the idea. “That sounds nice. All I need is for him to step out of Chengshi. If he’s not here then I have no problems.”
Feng Xuan smiled back at him, “Wouldn’t it be satisfying to kill him though?”
===========
While the couple was conversing about their enemy, La Hiena was brooding over his failed plan. He did not think that it would go down that fast. He thought that the person he held hostage would last longer before getting caught.
True, it was not the most intricate plan of La Hiena, but then again, he hated to think about this kind of stuff. He NEVER had to think about this kind of stuff. He was one of the most powerful mafia lords in the world. No one dared enough to have bad blood with him. He did not have a lot of practice trying to murder a whole family all the way from across the world.
He had asked a lot of his men, trying to take in their idea and suggestions on how they would break the Qings. They all advised him to wait for the Qings to get where they were.
But he already knew that the Qings were not leaving Chengshi for the same reason that he was not stepping a foot out of his house.
Should he really just accept defeat and swallow the pill that was telling him that they were no longer catering drugs to Chengshi?
But that pill would lodge on his throat and he would be forced to fish it out.
That Young Mr. Qing was not easily spooked.
He had the nerve to reply to his last sent message with: We will be waiting.
The big idea of the plan was simple: they had to take someone from the Qings to make this work. They had to have someone over here so they would come for their rescue. They needed something to dangle in front of them so they would come, all in panic and all his for the ravaging.
But who?
And how?
His sources already told him that the Qings already moved to the Qing’s Mansion. It was not like he could just bomb the whole place. How was he supposed to recover on that? It might not just be a mafia war that would happen in the world.
The only way that he would be able to break the Qings apart were for him to break it from the inside. They had a formidable front, but were they loose on the inside?
He had to find that out.
He had to make some phone calls.
The person who had been looking for Chi Mi was still in a lot of worry. He still could not contact her. Where the hell did that woman go?
Even his private investigator was being out of reach. It had been days! He did not pay that much money to be kept waiting this long. He was very agitated and worried.
He was worried about his reputation.
What if Chi Mi was already babbling to the press about everything that they did together? He could only press his hand over his mouth. He had some sick fantasies that she rode along with. What if she was going to tell the world about it?
That was going to be the scandal of the century here in Chengshi.
Not only he had some fetishes, he was a married man with a son. What would his family say? They would disown him, leaving him penniless and homeless. None of his friends would take him in in fear that he would damage their reputation too.
In the business world, that was all that matters. If your reputation was bad, you could already kiss money and fame good bye. There was nothing else waiting for you there but the abyss.
He was pacing his living room. It was airconditioned but he was sweating.. He was about to dial the inspector’s number when a familiar name lighted up his phone.
