The Mafia’s Rose Married The CEO - Chapter 466
The person who was looking for Chi Mi was clutching the phone tightly in his hand that if it had not been made of metal, it would have already been pulverized to dust. “What do you want?!”
He was certainly not in the mood to speak with a mafia lord. He did not care if he was screaming at La Hiena. It was not like La Hiena could have him killed. He was the only contact of value here in Chengshi. He was an irreplaceable resource.
“Woah,” said La Hiena, “caught you in a bad time?”
“Everyday that my mistress’ head is nowhere to be found IS a bad time. I have to know where she is!” He knew that La Hiena did not care about his woes. But who else was he supposed to talk to? What was having a mistress and weird fantasies and fetishes compared to the crimes La Hiena committed? He would look like an angel next to the mafia lord.
“I told you already,” said La Hiena in a tight voice. He wondered now what time it was across the world and what was La Hiena doing up at this hour. He probably could not sleep because he was thinking that death was coming. “I told you that girl’s probably dead.”
“She’s not,” he bit.
“She is,” La Hiena insisted. “Do you really think that the Qings would let her walk around like that? I’ll bet all my money that they caught her and they already fed her to wild dogs, or chopped her off to pieces and fed to huge fish.”
He was not believing any of this. “All these theories of yours,” he hissed, “this is all bullshit. The Qings are not doing anything wrong!”
“They are!” shouted La Hiena. “You better get your hands on those files and haul all of the evidence. That’s the only way the Qings would be frozen. With all eyes on them.”
He was a known businessman, and he did not think that he would be listening to a mafia lord’s plan. But it was a good enough plan that he actually liked it. All he had to do was find evidence that would incriminate the Qings and post it all over the web.
Once the population had spoken, the officials had to listen to them. Because they had to please the people. Because without that it would be chaos.
When the Qings were finally unable to move, that was when La Hiena would come in and kill them. Then they would own Chengshi together.
But still, he was pissed. “I’m not going to do anything until I find Chi Mi, understand?!”
He heard La Hiena sigh and muttered something in another language which was common enough for him to translate: “So stupid.”
He was about to reiterate, but La Hiena spoke again. “You know that you’re holding the plan, right? We’re getting delayed because of you.” La Hiena’s voice was starting to rise, going to the threatening level. “You are going to give me results or I WILL expose you that you were embezzling money from the charities that you are a head in. And that you’re deep in debt.”
He had nothing to answer to that. It was true. His latest business venture did not exactly take off. The amount of money lost was replaceable but it sure made a dent to his family’s fortune.
“Imagine how your grandfather would react,” said La Hiena. “Does he even know that you owe me money?” he laughed. “If you’re not going to be able to pay that price with this little thing that I am asking of you, I would be force to get any ready form of payment there is.”
“What did you just say?!” he shouted on the phone. He thought that La Hiena and him were friends. But why did it sound like La Hiena was blackmailing him?
“I’m just saying… keep a closer eye on your son. Actually, make sure that he is sleeping next to you. Keep your eyes open. I might just grab him and eat his toes.”
“I’ll be waiting for the investigator’s call until tomorrow and I’ll—”
“He’s dead too,” cut La Hiena. “Stop thinking that he’s still alive. The Qings probably caught wind that someone was trying to find that precious inventor of yours. It would not be that hard for them to find the investigator and slice his neck open. Stop this wishful thinking and get on the task at hand! What do you need a mistress for anyway? Not unless you’re trying to find her just to gut her and bury her six feet under? Nevertheless, she’s dead. DROP IT or it’s your son I’m taking.”
The call disconnected and he threw the phone on the floor. That had been the third phone that he got this week alone. He was getting the habit of destroying his gadgets after phone calls.
He dropped down on the couch and pulled at his hair near the roots. The world could crash and burn first before they would be able to take his son away from him. He needed to get moving. But the person that he had to see did not exactly have a clear schedule at the moment. He had to plan this carefully.
He grabbed the phone from the floor and called his cousin’s office.
