The Mafia’s Rose Married The CEO - Chapter 467
La Hiena, in his years of being a mafia lord, knew which plans would take off and be successful. He also knew which plans would crash and burn almost immediately.
It was HOPELESS. His contact inside Chengshi was not someone who could help him. That man was too lovestruck—even if he did not care to admit it. He was saying that he was scared that his mistress would have been exposing him, but that was not the main reason. He loved that little feeble scientist of his.
La Hiena sighed deeply. Was nothing going to go right in this? He wanted to admit defeat. He had a drug business to run. He should not even bother with the Qings. He should just go into another country, kick the mafia that was handling narcotics on that place, and be the source of supply there.
It could have been that easy, but doing so would be saying that the Qings won and that was not something that he would want carved on his tombstone. He was not going to be bested by a boy in his twenties.
La Hiena was not in this business to be thrown away like trash on the side. The Qings and them had a life-long deal. The Chengshi market was his and he was not going to let it go. Besides, how would he look to the other mafia lords if he was going to back down on a newbie? What would his men say about him? That he could be trampled by a successor?
Ha ha! La Hiena was not going to have any of that. He lighted his tobacco and leaned against his seat. He was alone in his office. On a normal day, he would prefer the noise of his people and have two or three women with him to keep him engaged. He was getting old. He was needing stimulus.
He had spoken to other mafia lords during the day. He greeted them happily and promised to send them presents. He got in touch because he had to know which people were still on his side. Some of them did not answer and he already knew that they were siding with the Qings. But most importantly, there was this one person whom he had been getting in touch of but could not reach.
This was the real mystery in the mafia world. This group headed by The King of the Jungle. Not much was known about this group, but La Hiena better get his hands on this man before the Qings could reach him. He would be a valuable ȧsset. He had seen the papers. The Jungle was raking in money. It was probably related with the government if there was that much.
As he smoked, he envisioned plans as he looked over the maps of Chengshi. It was dotted in red marker with the names of the smaller mafias in the area. They had tried to woo them with money and alliances. But none of them was willing to risk their comfortable space and cross with the Qings.
If that’s the case, then La Hiena would just have to get his mafia there without the help of anybody. He was going to build it there, right at the border of Chengshi and he would recruit new people. Then he was going to attack, in the least possible time that the Qings were expecting.
============
Qing Lok was watching his family from the side. Most of them were in the yard. They were mostly looking bored. They had been waiting for La Hiena’s attack but it seemed like nothing was really happening at this point. Did they really tighten around Chengshi that much that La Hiena was no longer moving?
“No, you have to hold it like this,” said Addison, showing Liu Meilien how to hold the knife properly.
Qing Lok could not stop the smile on his face. Liu Meilien was not the kind of girl who would get violent. She looked so confused and out of place in between Addison and Feng Xuan, both of whom were teaching her the basics of self-defense.
“You should not be grinning,” said Qing Chen who was on the chair in front of him, sipping on tea and was reading the newspaper.
“Yeah,” followed Wuming who was crunching on bread. “You’ve put your girlfriend in a place she did not want to be.”
“She wanted to be with me. This is the price,” he said. It was the truth. Nobody forced Liu Meilien to be here. He felt bad that she had entered his life at this time. Everything would have been a thousand times better if they weren’t in the middle of a war.
Qing Lok turned his attention back to the screen where he was watching the interrogations that Addison, Wuming, and Clown, looking for inconsistencies. “I think everyone’s clean,” he told his brothers.
Qing Chen lifted his head and said, “That’s the last on our checklist.” In their haste to prepare, all their objectives had been quickly met. “I already made a huge donation to the police force. I wonder what’s taking La Hiene so long.”
Qing Lok cleared his throat. “Maybe he’s just waiting for the right time. He’s still looking for a way in.”
He had seen multiple posts about a blind item, pertaining to their family. Words like: criminals, killers, organized crime group, hiding behind money, were all included in the short article. It was even translated to a lot of languages but Qing Lok quickly wiped it out with a few clicks on his keyboard.
Wuming yawned. “Just send me away, Chen. I’m going to hunt him down then we could all take a vacation on a private island or something. Let’s put a stop to this.”
“I’m not sending you there. If you want to die, I’d kill you right now.” Qing Chen folded the newspaper. “Let’s wait a little more. It’s going to come. I know it.”
