The Mafia’s Rose Married The CEO - Chapter 473
Qing Chen was trying to work on catching these people when he had heard rushed footsteps on the stairs. He quickly went out of the computer room because he already knew that this was not going to end so well.
There they were, his mother and his father going down with their robes tied to their waists and bags under their eyes. “What’s happening?” his mother’s raspy voice asked him as she raised herself on her tiptoes to look inside the computer room.
“Not everything’s fine,” he said in his most calm voice.
“Why is there a red blinking light on?” his father pointed on the light alarm system that they installed in the house. “An alarm had gone off? Why didn’t I hear a damn thing?” Also, he knew full well what the red light was for. “Did someone get hurt?”
Qing Chen breathed out. “Qing Lok got shot.”
“WHAT?!” both of his parents shouted at him and they started talking over each other that it was just a mix of words and sentences to his brain. “Why didn’t you wake me up?! What did that kid do?! Was it La Hiena? I’m going to kill him! Is he okay? Is he dying? Where was he shot?!”
And the biggest one of all: “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL US?”
Qing Chen raised his hands in the air. “Because I got it under control. Qing Lok is going to be fine. He got shot on his side.”
His father fisted his meaty hands on his collar. “How do you know he’s going to be fine? Are you his doctor?!”
“I’m not,” Qing Chen said and squeezed on his father’s wrist, willing him to let go. “But he’s not going to die. He has not lost that much blood and he was conscious when he got here. He’ll be fine!” then with that he pushed his father’s hand away from him.
“He’s not your son!” said his father. “I deserve to know what happens to him. This is MY HOUSE. You tell me everything that happens inside of it! Why didn’t you wake us up?!”
His father’s hand was not done as he pointed threateningly at his face. His mother was trying to pull his father back, telling him to calm down, but it was like Qing Zihao was not hearing her for the first time. “You, boy, are getting ċȯċky! Didn’t I tell you not to do this?! Now one of you is hurt!”
A door opened upstairs and a few seconds later, his grandmother, Xie Changying appeared at the top of the stairs. “What’s with all the shouting?” her calm voice was like a ray of sunlight in a storm. She scratched her eye. “Why are you two fighting?”
Qing Chen looked at her and sighed. “Everything’s fine, grandmother. Qing Lok got hurt.”
“‘Qing Lok got hurt’?!” his father repeated. “Qing Lok got AMBUSHED and was SHOT. He’s in an operating table now and this son of mine did not bother to wake me up. Can you believe that?”
Xie Changying did not answer but her mouth pressed into a thin line.
“See?” his father asked Qing Chen. “You should’ve woken me up.”
“You’re up now,” he said, matching his father’s voice. “What’s the point of all these shouting?” Qing Chen did not have the time to be having this conversation. “You can wait for Qing Lok over there. Liu Meilien is also waiting for the doctor. She can tell you everything that you need to know.”
Qing Zihao stepped towards Qing Chen, a murderous look on his face. “Why did I even put you in this position? The mafia is here to keep you SAFE. You think you’re so smart. Now that you’ve changed things up, you’re all going to start dropping one by one! I should take it back from you!”
Qing Chen stood straighter. He knew that his father was only saying these out of anger, but it was like he could not stop it from coming out either. “YOU WERE THE ONE WHO PUSHED ME INTO THIS. I never wanted the mafia in the first place, but you shoved it in my face anyway. Now that I’m starting to own it and make it something better, you want me to step out. And NO, you are not going to take back your position. Enigma is mine now, and I’m going to see through the end of this war.”
With that, Qing Chen turned away, leaving his father shouting at him, “The mafia does not exist to do good!”
==============
Qing Chen made his way to the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face. It dripped down his arm and onto the floor, making a complete mess. He was breathing hard.
If you were going to ask him, he did not have a good enough reason on why he did not tell his parents other than the fact that he forgot about it. He had been doing things with his brothers most of the time now and it was like they entered in a silent agreement not to let their father know everything in the worry that learning about all the problems would cause his health to decline.
He also forgot about it because he was already used to be the one making all the decisions for Enigma.
True, it was his wrong for not telling them. Qing Lok was their son even if the world turns upside down and they deserved to know if he was harmed. The back of Qing Chen’s mind probably knew that his brother was not going to die and he could just tell his parents about it in the morning.
Qing Chen wiped his face and arms. That conversation was invalid as things were said in the heat of the moment. His father and him probably did not mean all the things that left their mouth.
With that thought in mind, Qing Chen restarted his brain and got back to work.
