The Mage of Primordial Chaos - Chapter 628: A New Rival? More Like Idiot
Very soon, we arrived at the Recreation Campus. Following Feng Mian’s lead, we made it to a special area called the Motorbike Training Facility in the matter of a few minutes. It consisted of an enormous racetrack on a separate sky island, which was only accessible through the registration building here.
There were no fees, of course, but this registration process just kept things organized. After speaking with the receptionist, Feng was handed a keycard of some sort, and we were instructed to go through the portal connecting here and the separate sky island. The other girls all decided to come along and watch, since there really wasn’t anything else better for them to do.
In the blink of an eye, we were transported to the separate sky island, where the large racetrack was. There seemed to already be quite a few people practicing, probably also contestants of the upcoming tournament, but there was plenty of space. Feng Mian and I entered the vehicle bay and took out our assigned motorbike using the keycard she received, while the others went up to the audience racks.
Feng Mian walked the bike over to the entrance speedway to the racetrack after changing our clothes in the changing rooms, but I stopped her momentarily.
“Wait. So, I know how motorbikes work, but uh… this isn’t a normal motorbike, is it? If that was the case, there wouldn’t be a need for two people.”
Feng Mian nodded. “The person sitting in front is responsible for steering, while the person in the back controls the boosters. You want as much speed as possible, but you have to know your partner’s controlling limits if you don’t want to crash.”
“So… it’s basically a matter of communication and simply knowing your partner well,” I concluded. “Well, luckily for us, we know each other pretty well.”
Feng Mian smiled. “Right. So, you’ll be in the back, I presume?”
I nodded. “You’re the one with more experience, and just judging from the descriptions of the two jobs, controlling the boost seems to require… less technical skill than steering.”
“That’s… arguable, but alright.” Feng Mian climbed into the front seat of the motorbike, putting on her helmet. I put on my helmet as well and climbed in after her, sitting behind while holding her by the waist for balance.
“You know, now that we’re actually in this position, I feel kind of stupid and embarrassed,” I said. “In situations like this, isn’t it usually the guy in front?”
“On a normal motorbike, yeah,” Feng Mian replied with a wink. “But on these? The guy usually rides in the back, since controlling the boost requires more physical power. If you look outside, all the other practicing duos have the guy sitting in the back.”
“Huh… is that so?” I didn’t really pay attention on the way in here, so I couldn’t tell for sure.
“Just trust in me,” Feng Mian said, placing my hands on her stomach and forcing me to hug her. “It’s very simple, okay? When you want to go fast, press down with your left foot. When you want to slow down, press down with your right. It takes quite a bit of power to push it down, though, so be mindful of that.”
“Got it.”
“Then let’s go.”
I pressed down on my left foot, speeding up the bike, but just then, the garage doors ahead of us opened up right as we were about to leave. In entered a male-female duo, just like us, walking their motorbike inside.
“Oh, look who it is!” The young man laughed upon seeing me. “Isn’t this the infamous harem owner in the school? The one with all the beauties around him?”
“… Ignore him,” I said. “Let’s just go.”
“Woah, woah, now, since we met here, it must be fate, right?” The man stopped us, sliding in front of our motorbike to block our way. “You’re also participating in the motorbiking tournament next week?”
I sighed. “And what of it?”
“Well, I was just thinking… why don’t we come up with a little contest of our own?”
I frowned. “… What?”
“You heard me. A little contest. If I’m able to beat you at next week’s tournament, that babe in front of you becomes my girlfriend. How bout that?”
With a sigh, I pressed on the accelerator—hard.
“Woah- hey!”
The man’s eyes widened at my ridiculous actions, but it was already too late. The front of the motorbike slammed into his body, sending him flying out of the garage, and landing on the patch of grass in between the race course outside.
“… Hm. A shame he didn’t land on the racetrack itself.”
“Sorry, my aim should’ve been better…” Feng Mian murmured, frowning a bit.
“… You don’t know who he is, do you?” The girl who had been originally with him gave a soft chuckle. “That was an amusing stunt you pulled, but he’s the son of a teacher at the school on good terms with the headmaster himself, Council Member Tian Lin. That man is quite vengeful, so if he hears you did this to his son…”
“Really?” I blinked. “That’s cool. I didn’t ask, and nor do I care.”
“You will care very soon, after you’re expelled from the academy,” the girl snorted. “What that idiot’s personality, he’ll tell on you the first chance he gets.”
“Is that so?” I chuckled. “I’d like to see him try, then. Pass a message onto that guy for me. If his father comes after me, I’ll get them fired, then expel him too.”
“…” The girl was stunned to hear this, but before she could ask about it, I stepped on the accelerator again and we exited the garage. I didn’t even bother asking for her name, nor the guy’s, for that matter. If they really want to come for me, they need to first realize Tian Lin will protect me no matter what.
“Why did that guy even ask something like that just now…?” Feng Mian sighed. “I don’t understand… he clearly sees that I’m already your woman.”
“Well, you see…” I gazed over her motorcyclist clothes—a tight black skinsuit that emphasized her sexy curves and pale, flawless skin. “… Men are creatures who have trouble controlling their desires, that’s all.”
