The Mage of Primordial Chaos - Chapter 629: Claire's Past
After motorbike practice, the girls and I headed back to the dorms. The technique wasn’t particularly hard—it was just like stepping on the brakes and accelerator in a car. But since I was new to this, Feng Mian had to explain to me how everything worked—not just the motorbike itself, but also the tournament’s rules and whatnot.
In the end, we managed to make it successfully around the racetrack three laps in a time of about 3 minutes. It wasn’t record-breaking or very fast by any means, but for a first attempt, it was pretty great. We were going to come back to practice everyday after school to prepare, but for today, this was good enough.
Once we arrived back at the dorms, the girls and I parted ways, each of them returning to their own rooms. While spending time together was fine and all, they couldn’t afford to be staying at my place every night. If that happened, no doubt students would start to get suspicious of all of us being in the same elevator every single morning, at the same time.
So, Claire and I ended up going back to our room with just the two of us, Elite and Support. As usual, she didn’t speak at all, and I didn’t particularly try to make conversation either. That would only make the situation more awkward. In a way, this silence was nice.
The night proceeded as normal. She went to shower, then I did. Neither of us spoke at all during this, even as we passed by one another. Just as I was about to head into my room and settle in for the night, however, I noticed the door to her room being just slightly open, a sliver of light shining through.
I contemplated—should I go see what she was up to, or should I respect her privacy?
It didn’t take long for me to make the decision. I’ve never really been a gentleman, and it was her own fault for not closing the door properly.
Cautiously, I approached the doorway, concealing my presence and aura. There, I peeked in through the sliver left open, and saw Claire on her bed, holding what looked like a picture in her hand. Curious, I used Blessing Magic to enhance myself and my vision so I could see clearly what the contents of the photo were.
Huh… this is… her family?
On the picture was what seemed to be a loving family, with a father, mother, and two children. The taller of the two kids was a boy, while the shorter was a girl—presumably Claire. They all wore classic vampire noble clothing, and had fangs protruding from their mouths as well.
That was the old royal family of the Vampire race…
“Mother… father… where are you now…?” Claire murmured under her breath, a tear falling down her cheek. “Brother is dead… but Neo told me you two were still alive, somewhere. I miss you so much…”
I paused. Neo? Is that… her butler’s name?
“I’ve found someone with the Premium Blood we royals need… but… I can’t bring myself to lower my head and ask him. I’m nearing my limit… I just can’t do it…”
Is that why she’s been so quiet recently…?
After some thought, I made up my mind. Heading to the kitchen, I poured some wine into a glass, then cut my finger with a Sky Element blade before letting a few drops of my blood fall into the glass. The color blended in with the drink, and the aroma of the wine covered up the smell of blood as well.
Then, after my wound healed up on its own, I took the glass to Claire’s room, and gave a knock on the door.
“Uh… Claire? The wine in the refrigerator was going to expire soon, so I poured a glass for each of us. If you don’t want to drink it, that’s fine, but… do your best to not waste it. This is good wine.”
With that, I returned to my own room, not even bothering to wait for a reply. She wasn’t going to reply anyway.

– The Next Morning –
Groggily, I woke up and left my room, having completely forgotten about what happened last night. When I saw the wine glass beside her door, empty, however, everything came back to me.
Hm… looks like she did drink it. But… could she tell that there was my blood in it?
Perishing the thought, I carried on with my day as usual, ordering breakfast from the advanced room service and getting ready for the daily classes.
And for the next three days, that was what happened as well.
Neither Claire nor I brought up the wine of glass, so I assumed she just couldn’t tell. But then again, wouldn’t she find it strange her vampiric urges weren’t bothering her anymore? Or wait… did I perhaps put too less blood?
Either way, I had no way of confirming. Never again did Claire accidentally leave her door open like that, and so the only method I had of learning more about her was through her butler, who I confirmed to be named Neo.
Lying on my bed, I opened up my Navigator and switched to the Messages option. Tomorrow was the weekend, so I could afford to stay up a lot later than usual.
[You: Neo. You there?]
After just a few seconds, he replied.
[Neo: Yes. Is everything going okay with her Highness?]
[You: … Somewhat. She’s still refusing to talk, and I overheard her telling herself she was too scared to lower her head and ask me for my blood, but… I gave her a glass of wine with a few drops of my blood in it about three days ago. Not sure if it was effective or not.]
[Neo: That should be fine. A clever strategy, young man. I have not chosen wrong, it seems.]
[You: Yeah? Well, it’s not going to work as a long-term plan. To get closer to her, I need to learn about her full past. When are you free?]
[Neo: Hm… tomorrow, 5 AM. I will send you the location then.]
[You: 5 A- are you fucking serious? It’s already midnight!]
[Neo: Shall we make it 3 AM, then? That way, you don’t have to sleep at all.]
[You: … 5 AM it is.]
[Neo: Thank you. I’ll be waiting.]
*****
This will be the final chapter of this novel until further notice. Due to exams, I have decided I only have time to write one novel, and since my other novel is for this year’s Webnovel Spirity Contest, I have chosen to keep writing that one instead. This book just really is not getting as much traction as I’d like it to, so continuing it is meaningless compared to my other book which is currently doing pretty well, titled Xianxia Online.
For those who are curious, I sincerely recommend checking my new book out. The MC is what Xuan Kai was supposed to be but never got to become due to my lack of experience in writing at the time of starting this novel. Also, the MC of Xianxia Online has a similar ability to Xuan Kai just in a different world, so if you’re into the whole devouring/stealing power thing, Xianxia Online is the book for you.
I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused everyone, and I hope you all continue to support me on my other novel. Thank you!
P.S. Complete reboot of this novel coming soon. It will be great, I promise!
