The Maid Who Became a Knight - Chapter 111
Chapter 111
The peaceful Imperial Palace was flipped over. Hizen and Leasis came back, when everyone thought they had become ghosts.
When the guards saw the two in shabby-looking clothes, they pointed at them and shouted, and the bridge between the Imperial Palace and the capital got soon crowded with imperial knights, including Max, and nobles.
Leasis smiled awkwardly at the sight. The result of Hizen’s refusal to use the secret passage was greater than expected.
“Huh! Commander-nim!”
“No way!”
“No! Hohoho!”
Especially, Jason and the Imperial Elite Knights stuck to Hizen like gumballs. They had suffered a lot without realizing it, and tears flowed down like rivers.
Confused, Hizen hesitated to shake them off. Leasis was smiling brightly next to him.
At that time, her cheeks tickled. As she turned her head, she saw Max smiling softly. He spoke in a small voice so that only she could hear.
‘Good to see you back.’
Leasis bowed slightly and thanked him. She was not left alone either, as Onjet and Karma sticked to her sides.
Hizen and Leasis, who had been greeted like crazy, headed to the Commander’s office. The wooden sign on the door prohibiting entry had disappeared, and the interior had changed neatly.
It was all like Max’s taste. Hizen and Leasis walked down the hallway and burst into laughter. In the meantime, the two did not stop holding hands tightly.
The brown door of the Commander’s office remained the same. In front of the door, Leasis strengthened her firm grip on his hand. She was afraid that Hizen’s heart might hurt.
Contrary to her anxious thoughts, Hizen was calm. The three sat on the leather sofa and talked about the past.
Then, the door opened without knocking. Jason hurriedly entered and shouted.
“Commander-nim, we’ve been ordered to attend the group affairs meeting!”
Max’s expression hardened subtly at the sudden order. It must be a debate on the level of punishment for Hizen and Leasis.
Whatever the situation was, they did not carry out their duty faithfully. Max sighed and lifted himself up.
“Vice-Commander-nim, don’t worry about us.”
“Yes, I’ll be back.”
Max laughed hard at Leasis’ words. Then Hizen, who was drinking tea with his legs crossed, said.
“Max. Just do what you learned from me.”
“Puhaha.”
What he said was a mixture of consideration and confidence. Thanks to him, Max relaxed and burst into laughter.
Max and Jason went out, and the door closed. The quiet room felt cozy for the two.
Leasis closed her eyes, leaning on Hizen’s broad shoulder. No matter what punishment she would face, she was not afraid as long as she was by Hizen’s side.
Then, Hizen said energetically.
“Don’t worry.”
“Yes?”
Her red eyes blinked with wonder. Hizen smiled after giving a slight kiss on her straight forehead.
“The reason Max was able to assist me for a long time is because he looks like me.”
“Hey. That’s not true.”
Leasis could not easily agree. If Hizen was cold like ice, Max was like a soft cream.
Max was closer to Neren than Hizen, and she had never seen anyone speak badly of him. Hizen made a meaningful face when Leasis murmured not to joke.
Standing in the middle of the conference room, Max raised his head confidently. Elnos was already seated at the top and many ministers were sitting on both sides.
Most of them stared at Max with disapproving eyes. The tragedy of the two families was nothing more than a common power struggle, and most felt that there was no reason to show indulgence.
In particular, Elnos’ eyes were cold. He stared at Max and asked.
“So. Are you saying that you only want them to be released from their positions without any punishment?”
“That’s right.”
“I agree!”
At Max’s words, Schwalnon raised his hand and shouted. What’s that shit fly? Elnos stared at him and frowned.
After gaining the right to speak, he spoke his mind in a calm voice. The two were at fault, but a harsh punishment was not appropriate because they had contributed greatly to the Empire.
In particular, the Dratius’ and Berman’s mansions had already no gold left, and the two had fully reflected and returned, so they should be given a chance to make up for their actions.
There was a pretty tedious thorn in the process. Some ministers were jealous of the Dratius family and raised their voices, saying that it was not fair.
Max’s back was wet. He unbuttoned his sleeves and uniform and glanced at the ministers. They were already more busy looking after their own profit than the safety of the Empire.
He was overwhelmed with anger. The two had defended the Empire, escaping death several times. However these guys did not want to welcome them with open arms but with a guillotine instead.
Breathing deeply, Max clenched his fist. Then he dropped it hard on the table.
Bang!
“What are you doing right now…”
An old minister, who was about to shout, shut his mouth. After hitting the table, Max had a fierce smile on his face. He looked like a killer who had just murdered one person and was laughing.
A white energy flowed over the back of Max’s hand. He was kind-hearted and warm like a spring breeze, but he had strong convictions. In other words, he was stubborn.
Like Hizen.
“What they’ve done so far is about 100 times more than the average imperial knight.”
At the end of Max’s words, Jason handed over the sheets of paper he had brought to the ministers as if he were spreading them.
It contained all the details of their missions, with the exact date, place, and purpose. Of every secret mission.
“Wouldn’t that be justified based on the records so far?”
Just try to say something more.
His soft voice contained a deep undertone. When the ministers flinched, Max confidently folded his arms.
In fact, other than for this reason, they had no choice but to accept Hizen and Leasis. Because they had to use their abilities somehow.
The monsters still remaining throughout the Empire were a pain. Over time, their power did not naturally dissipate and they became stronger instead.
The invasion of monsters became more serious when the two were away, and only these two people could effectively restrain them.
The ministers eventually closed their mouths when they realized it. Elnos’ face looking at Max was full of displeasure.
But Elnos could not say anything. He had lost his bet against Blix that day. He had thought that Leasis would never choose Hizen, but his judgment was terribly broken.
Blix had ask him to do three things in return for losing. And Elnos now had to do one of them.
“Proceed as you wish.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
Max bowed his head a bit disgustingly. Elnos looked irritably at him and left the conference room.
It became calm in an instant. There was no one to oppose Max anymore. Everyone left the room, and Max could not hide his joy.
He felt like he had finally done something for Hizen and Leasis. Of course he had gotten some help from someone.
“Vice-Commander-nim, let’s go.”
“No. You go ahead.”
Jason tilted his head at Max’s words and left the conference room. Max sat on the conference table and closed his eyes.
All the surrounding disappeared, and he felt a familiar chill. Max slowly opened his mouth.
“Thank you.”
“Not at all.”
Blix appeared in the blink of an eye like a ghost, and grinned. He was lost in thought as he glanced at the upper seat where Elnos had been sitting.
It was surprising that Elnos had tried to make Leasis the Empress, but it was even more surprising that he kept his promise. In fact, Blix had been half-confident.
“Thanks to you, things went smoothly. Thank you very much. Blixrond-ssi.”
Blix scratched his cheek at the ticklish words. Even if he had been pointed at, criticized and cursed by others in his life, it was his first time receiving this kind of compliment.
Max looked at Blix kindly. It was Blix who had saved Hizen and Leasis, keeping them away from Elnos. If it were not for him, it would have really been all over.
Max had asked Blix why he was helping the two. But he had given an unexpected answer.
[I want Leasis to be happy.]
Even the crazy killer had been purified. As expected, Leasis was the best cleaner, even as a knight. Max burst into laughter as he recalled her fame.
But Blix’s hand did not seem to get better. It even looked worse than before.
“Is your hand all right?”
“Yes. It’ll be better if I go back to my hometown and put it in the spring water.”
He was sad to hear that he was going back, so Max closed his mouth without realizing it. He did not know where Blix would be, but he cared for him like a little brother.
After all, Blix was a man who was not good with emotion. He disliked boring things, but what he hated the most was solitude and loneliness.
“May I visit you there?”
“Really? For real?”
Blix asked back with a big smile. Max nodded his head greatly, seeing Blix in such a state.
Well, now that Hizen and Leasis were back, the work would be lighter. Max stretched himself, thinking he should tease them with it.
“Breadman, then I’ll give you a gift.”
“A gift?”
“Yes.”
It was quite interesting to see him nodding confidently. Max asked with his brown eyes twinkling.
“What is it?”
“Two Elnos’ tickets.”
“What?”
It was hard to believe even though he heard it with his own ears. When Max tilted his head, Blix pulled something out.
He had two magic scrolls, with complex magic circles engraved on them. Blix kindly taught him how to use them.
He also gave a very detailed description of how he got these magic scrolls.
