The Male Lead’s Fake Sister - Chapter 55
Chapter 55
Nobody knew that Amnesia’s detoxifying function was particularly effective against the Dark Flower.
That was only natural.
Amnesia had only flourished when Tidwell’s father was alive, after all.
‘Though I’m not sure if one flower is enough to completely detoxify the Dark Flower.’
At least, the Duke would begin to notice the small disparities in the information that he believed so blindly.
And he would ruminate about how strange his behavior was.
‘I can’t be sure of how much Tidwell has drugged my father….’
Ravia thought she had to get Amnesia and her father as close as possible.
That’s why she smiled warmly and said something she didn’t mean to say.
Ravia’s gaze, staring at the empty spot where the carriage left, was filled with deep regret.
She was reminded of the conversation she had with Duke Leontine a while ago.
-I understand you, Father.
That one line changed the look on his face. Why only now do you behave this affectionately?
‘Understand you, huh? What a joke.’
Ravia bowed her head slightly to contain the sneer that was about to break out. It wasn’t even worth thinking about.
‘But it’s true that I’m curious about the history between my mother and Amnesia. Well, I will be able to hear it when another chance presents itself anyway.’
It was also something that wasn’t even worth thinking about.
Now she had to go to Marquis Callister’s banquet.
After she removed all her lingering thoughts and headed back into the mansion, a man coming down the stairs smiled brightly at her.
“Sister, has the Duke left?”
“Just a while ago. Why didn’t you come out to send him off?”
“I didn’t want to interrupt your conversation. I was also busy getting ready.”
Of course he was busy. She had deliberately torn some seams on Tidwell’s clothes.
The reason was simple.
Tidwell should not come down and see the Amnesia flower that she gave to Duke Leontine.
“I’m afraid that I was rude to the Duke.”
“Don’t worry. My father didn’t seem bothered by it.”
“I’m glad that my sister stood up for me.”
Tidwell, who answered shyly, bowed and kissed Ravia’s hand lightly. He lowered himself and asked,
“Are we leaving now?”
“Yeah. I’m afraid we will lose face in front of Marquis Callister if we arrive late.” Ravia replied, slowly batting her eyelids.
On the way to betray love. She decided to bury the little sorrow she had while talking to her father.
***
At Marquis Callister’s banquet hall.
“….Seems like he’s the said successor…..”
“Suddenly adopted a son…?”
“Yeah, looks like it’s not a rumor, after all…”
Hearing all the whispers, Tidwell thought to himself.
‘I knew it would be like this, but I didn’t know they’d be so open about it.’
Ravia wasn’t by his side right now, so he wasn’t able to leave his current spot.
He stood in the middle of the banquet hall. That meant there was nothing he could do but stand.
Since it was a banquet, it would be right to do something appropriate for the banquet such as socializing or drinking. But he stood there awkwardly.
Of course, it hadn’t been like that from the beginning.
At first, Ravia was there for him. When Tidwell escorted Ravia into the banquet hall, many people looked delighted, though it wasn’t clear whether it was sincere or only a pretense.
-Oh my! The Princess is here! It’s been so long.
-How have you been? Recently, my family developed a new variety of tea leaves, and I wanted the Princess to taste it. So if you have time please visit our mansion…..
This crowd was so unfamiliar that Tidwell almost grimaced without realizing it. Even if he stepped into the aristocratic world, Tidwell wasn’t very good at banquets.
Sometimes Herod put a shackle on his wrist and dragged him along. Of course, there were some people who tried to flatter Tidwell, but he was quite difficult to please.
As it was hard to approach him, most people furtively tried to earn his attention, but they ended up giving up and stepped back.
At least, he had had a similar experience when he went to the charity party with Ravia last time, but the situation was different from this one.
Charity parties aren’t an actual party where all of the high-ranking aristocrats attended. Half of the attendees were filled by the Blue.
Everyone wanted to talk to Leontine’s young lord and lady, but there was only a limited number of people who could make an acquaintance with high-ranking people like them comfortably.
Therefore, most of them were overly polite, and their greetings were always accompanied by the words ‘It’s such an honor to meet you.’
However, more than 80% of Marquis Callister’s banquet attendees were high-ranking aristocrats.
Not only did they talk to Ravia freely, some even tried to show off their friendship with her.
Tidwell also acknowledged their sociability and eloquence, so before he knew it, Tidwell was also talking to them.
Naturally, he felt rather foolish for being nervous that everyone would ignore him for being an adopted son with an unclear root.
But again, it was all just a pretense.
‘They scattered away as soon as my sister left me.’
Those shallow aristocrats who had nothing but blood. Their behavior of constantly weighing gains and losses was what irked him the most.
As soon as Ravia left to get drinks, they whispered among themselves, greeted Tidwell in a half-hearted manner, and went away.
Under the noise of sneer and laughter, the sharp blades that had been lurking around seemed to contaminate the air.
‘I forgot everything when I was with my sister.’
He felt nauseous to be stuck between those who he hated the most. A dizzying smell of perfume, bedazzling ornaments, and low laughter that sounded like a pig’s cry.
‘If I could, I’d kill them all.’
Feeling a little constrained, Tidwell swept his neck, pretending to fix his tie.
‘When will my sister return? Come to think of it, Herod said he was going to the party today.’
Herod had paid so much attention to his organization that he forgot to maintain relationships with the nobles, so he was eager to get invited to Marquis Callister’s banquet to make up for it.
-I asked Rette to get me an invitation. There are slots for two people per invitation card. How about it? Let’s go together. I heard you like Marquis Callister quite a bit.
-Yeah, but sticking my face into a battlefield where I can barely find my footing is nothing for pride.
-Why? Even if you didn’t get an invitation, your personal connections will definitely lend you a hand.
-It doesn’t mean much to me unless Marquis Callister sends me the invitation himself.
-Man, you’re so stiff. If it were me, I’d just squeeze my way in and do whatever it takes to shake his hand.
-I’m not as shameless as you.
-Ah, of course. If you heard something you hate, you’ll definitely….haha, look at you! Look how stiff you are!”
Herod had teased Tidwell a little bit and said.
-If you don’t go, I’ll find another partner.
He was the type to get whatever he wanted at any cost, so it was highly unlikely that he didn’t get an invitation. Tidwell couldn’t be sure who his partner was, but he was certain that Herod was also in this banquet hall.
‘If I’m unlucky, he could’ve run into my sister….’
It would be the worst scenario if Ravia found out who the real Herod is.
Of course, Tidwell already told Herod to go by a different name.
It wasn’t because he wanted to continue deceiving Ravia, but because he wanted to confess the truth with his own mouth.
From the fact that he was the first person she met at the masquerade ball, and the fact that he had been pretending to be Herod at their meetings.
That was the only way to be forgiven by her. Because Ravia was a woman of great pride, and it surely wouldn’t be easy to get forgiveness from Ravia for deceiving her.
If Herod knew about this, he would surely nag him for being crazy about women.
After all, how can you overturn a perfect table just because of one woman? Unless you finally go crazy.
He felt sorry for Herod, who wanted to pick up the crumbs when Tidwell devoured Leontine.
Not everything in the world goes the way you want it to, and sometimes your business partner will turn his back against you with an unapologetic face.
It was a bit funny and cliché, but Tidwell was no longer confident to turn his back on Ravia.
When he kissed Ravia yesterday and ran to the annex with her.
Tidwell thought he could never let go of this woman that had fallen into his hands.
