The Male Protagonist’s Daughter - Chapter 2.2
The two of them were child prodigies, it was natural for them to be a bit self-righteous, although one was fake and another was real.
Shen Yan wasn’t willing to talk to Luo Shuyan, so she wasn’t going to waste her energy on a disinterested person. ‘Sigh, children are such melodramatic creatures.’
Shen Qingruo saw the two little heads leaning towards each other while they did their homework at the same table. She found it very heartwarming. ‘This is great.’
Suddenly, they heard someone knocking on the door. Luo Shuyan and Shen Yan didn’t look up, seemingly uninterested with whoever the visitor was.
Shen Qingruo thought that Luo Tianyuan was back. She immediately scurried to open the door.
She opened the door to a young woman with shades on. Shen Qingruo was stunned for a moment and asked, “Young lady, who are you looking for?”
“Tianyuan told me that his daughter usually has her meals at his neighbor’s. Where’s his daughter?” the young woman replied while she sized up Shen Qingruo.
As Luo Tianyuan’s soon-to-be girlfriend, she’d already done her research. She was particularly unhappy about his neighbor, especially after she found out that he’d helped her a lot.
At this moment, she realized that despite not being as youthful as herself, Shen Qingruo was nevertheless a beautiful lady. She stood up straight and said, “Tianyuan has to work overtime today. I’m here to take his daughter out for a meal. By the way, I’m Tianyuan’s girlfriend.” She took the opportunity to introduce herself.
Not to her surprise, Shen Qingruo did not seem envious but was rather cautious instead. Shen Qingruo gently replied, “Shuyan already had her dinner. She’s doing her homework now.”
Song Wanqing, the young woman in shades, concluded that her intuition was correct.
She was the daughter of one of the richest businessmen in Ning City. She’d just came back from her studies overseas and happened to meet Luo Tianyuan. She fell in love with him after a few meet ups and they enjoyed each other’s company. When he had sent her home two days ago, he had embraced her. So, they were just one step away from establishing their relationship.
She knew that he had a daughter with another woman. Song Wanqing was a highly educated lady, so she could accept the existence of an extra child.
Nevertheless, she felt like he was being indecisive about their relationship and she was determined to find out what was wrong. She employed someone to do a background check and found out about the existence of Shen Qingruo.
Women understood each other well. Song Wanqing suspected that Shen Qingruo was trying to become Mrs. Luo by going through the backdoor. She was making use of Luo Tianyuan’s daughter to do so.
“She can do her homework anytime she wants. Since she’s already had dinner, I’ll bring her shopping.” Song Wanqing had always been the center of attention and the apple of everyone’s eye. She looked down upon Shen Qingruo and her cunning ways; she didn’t want Tianyuan’s daughter to be taken advantage of by such a vicious woman.
However, Shen Qingruo was firm on her decision. She’s well informed about the world. Kidnappings happened frequently, especially to rich families. Furthermore, the culprit was usually someone close to home.
Luo Tianyuan had never talked about his wealth and neither was he a show off, that was why his wealthiness could go unnoticed in a simple-minded city like Ning City. However, Shen Qingruo wasn’t blind, she knew he was well-off. The only reason why Luo Tianyuan chose to stay in Ning City and in a simple school’s quarters was because of his precious daughter.
He didn’t trust others to be kind to his daughter and his daughter was familiar with this area. He’d previously asked Shen Qingruo if she’d be willing to move with him into a villa in the provincial capital city, but he didn’t get an answer.
Shen Qingruo could empathize with him. His daughter was the most important person in his life, and so was her son in hers.
However, Shen Qingruo wouldn’t give up her own plans to take care of someone else’s daughter.
She’s currently renting an apartment from Luo Tianyuan. If she were to follow him to his villa in the provincial capital and stay there, what would she make of that?
Coincidentally, after rejecting his offer, a major incident happened during the New Year’s. A gang targeted the upper-middle class. They kidnapped their children and blackmailed the parents into paying huge sums of money in ransom. Ever since then, Luo Tianyuan stopped contemplating about moving to a bigger city.
Without Luo Tianyuan’s permission, Shen Qingruo would lose his trust if she were to let his daughter leave with a stranger, and she wouldn’t dare to think if something were to happen to his daughter.
Shen Qingruo is indebted to Luo Tianyuan. She was able to thrive over the past few years thanks to his help. She loved Luo Shuyan, and under her watch, she would never let anything happen to the child.
At that, Shen Qingruo calmly said, “I’m sorry but I’ve made a promise to him that I’ll never let Shuyan leave with anyone but him.”
Song Wanqing’s blood boiled.
She took out her phone, which was the newest model available in the market, and gave Luo Tianyuan a call. She realized that the signal there wasn’t very good. She glared at Shen Qingruo before walking down the stairs to find a better signal. Her phone was considerably smaller and sleeker than most of the models available in the 90s, and this attracted the attention of many on the streets.
At last, she finally found a signal. She dialed Luo Tianyuan’s work number and after some time, someone finally answered in a husky voice. Song Wanqing blushed and she supposed it was due to the hot weather. Instantly, her anger subsided.
Finally, Luo Tianyuan enquired the reason for her call. She suddenly came back to her senses and said, “Tianyuan, your neighbor is really too much. I told her that I want to take Shuyan shopping for clothes and she told me no pretentiously. Isn’t she being too much?”
Luo Tianyuan, who was signing a document in his office, suddenly put on a stern expression. He clenched his grip on the phone and asked in a serious tone, “You went to my house?”
