The Male Protagonist’s Daughter - Chapter 4.1
Even though it was already in the late 90s, the workload given to elementary school students was still manageable. To a certain extent, Luo Shuyan found it to be extremely easy to complete.
Students had four classes in the morning and three in the afternoon. The main subjects included mathematics, language, science, and moral & ideology. Minor subjects included art, music and sports.
The father and daughter duo woke up at 7 in the morning. Luo Tianyuan was still feeling provoked by his daughter’s opinion from the day before. You’d usually find it adorable when children talked about cute young love, but Luo Tianyuan was feeling uneasy about it.
This day, he decided to personally take his daughter to school. Sometimes when he was busy, he’d allow her to walk to school with Shen Yan. The elementary school was meters away from their accommodation and the surroundings were relatively safe.
Elementary school students weren’t required to wear school uniforms other than on Mondays since they had their flag raising ceremony on Mondays.
It was Friday. Luo Shuyan opened her cupboard and picked out a ruffled pink dress and ignored the boring dark blue school uniform.
Luo Shuyan was quite popular. She realized that young girls in her class were in an awkward phase of growing up. They used to love wearing dresses in kindergarten, but they didn’t like to anymore when they entered elementary school. Luo Shuyan once overheard a parent reprimanding their child for being wasteful and not wearing the dresses that they’d bought for her.
Although she was also six, she couldn’t really understand what her classmates were thinking about.
Half of her closet was filled with dresses. Every time Luo Tianyuan went for a business trip, he’d go to the local departmental store to buy her the latest children’s clothing. Thus, since kindergarten, she’d always been the most well-dressed in her class…
After she’d put on her dress, she came out from her room and saw her father squatting in front of the fridge with a worried expression on his face.
Luo Tianyuan wasn’t very attentive when it came to house chores. When his daughter was in kindergarten, he’d once attempted to prepare a heart-felt breakfast for her, but his poor culinary skills only made things worse. Then onwards, he gave up hope on preparing food for her.
Now, it was Shen Qingruo who took care of all three of his daughter’s meals.
As for Luo Tianyuan, he was a grown man and he could easily eat out wherever he was.
Yet today, Luo Tianyuan really wanted to prove himself as a capable father by preparing a scrumptious breakfast for his daughter. However, he woke up to find that there wasn’t much in the fridge to work with.
When Luo Shuyan saw her father’s current state, she immediately ran up to him, puffed up her cheeks and said, “Aunty Shen said that she’ll make noodles for me.”
Nothing scared her more than her father being in the kitchen.
Luo Shuyan recalled the charcoal burnt fried egg that her father had once made, she was sure even the hen wouldn’t be able to recognize its own egg in that state…
“…” Luo Tianyuan stood up and said, “Alright, go brush your teeth and wash your face. Papa will send you to school after breakfast.”
Luo Shuyan was still in a bit of a daze when she walked into the bathroom and saw that someone had already squeezed toothpaste for her on her pink toothbrush.
After washing up, the two of them went to their neighbor’s for breakfast. Shen Qingruo had already made breakfast but Luo Tianyuan’s visit was unexpected. She was stunned for a moment and said, “Give me a moment, I’ll make another bowl of noodles for you.”
Luo Tianyuan would not eat at Shen Qingruo’s. Although most people thought that they would make a good couple, the both of them didn’t think of each other that way.
‘A clean hand needs no washing.’ They knew that their relationship was innocent, and there was no need for them to worry about how others thought of them. However, they had children of their own and they didn’t want their children to misunderstand them.
Luo Tianyuan promptly waved his hand and said, “It’s alright, I’ll find something to eat later. I’m just here to send the children to class.”
Shen Qingruo didn’t try to persuade him to stay, after all, she didn’t have a very warm personality to begin with.
After everything that she’s been through in life, she no longer desired for much. Her only wish was to bring up her son well. She liked this peaceful and quiet life although it was comparatively simpler than the life she had before.
In Ning City, locals had the habit of eating noodles and vermicelli for breakfast. Shen Yan had the same taste buds because he basically grew up here. The two children each had a small bowl of noodles and a bowl of green bean soup that Shen Qingruo had made the night before.
Luo Tianyuan thoughtfully stared at the bread and fried egg that Sheng Qingruo was eating.
He didn’t want to dig into the background of this single mother and her son. Based on Shen Qingruo’s little habits and charisma, it was easy to tell that she was from a well-to-do family.
Shen Qingruo noticed Luo Tianyuan’s gaze. She smiled and said, “In the past, I made fried egg sandwiches for them and served it with a glass of milk, but they didn’t like it.”
Luo Tianyuan smiled and nodded. “Mn, Shuyan hasn’t been willing to drink milk ever since she turned one.”
Luo Tianyuan had another reason for this visit. He had to apologize to her on Song Wanqing’s behalf. He knew Song Wanqing well, he believed that she was a kind person who just wasn’t very sensitive towards the feelings of others. She was angry over the phone, so he figured that she’d had an unpleasant experience with Shen Qingruo. It was undoubtedly a disastrous encounter for Shen Qingruo.
Luo Tianyuan awkwardly coughed and covered his mouth with his hand. He wasn’t trying to hide the issue from the children since he’d already had the talk with his daughter.
