The Master Of Death Is A Devil - Chapter 17 No Place Like Home
“Pup, I found it!” Sirius slammed open the door to Harry’s room to find Valerie sucking on his thumb as he slept.
“Huh, Sirius? Don’t you ever knock?” he blinked, remember he didn’t need his glasses, and finally realized he was losing blood. “Finished?” he quirked his eyebrow as Valerie pulled back, nodded, and licked her lips.
“Oh!” his godfather gasped before he backed away. “My bad. Come back to the kitchen when you can.”
Harry rolled his eyes and sat up. Valerie didn’t have anything to wear, so he transfigured some clothes for her with the Elder Wand. They would last for the day at least and he could help get her new possessions later.

“So, this is our new Queen, Valerie Tepes.”
“Just I’d expect from you, Harry, saving princesses and all,” he smiled between bites of his breakfast. “Nice to meet you, Valerie, I’m Sirius, but you can call me Padfoot.”
“He’s my godfather and Knight, but no need to take Sirius seriously.”
“Hey, I’m Siri-”
“We get it,” Harry looked over to his Queen, ignoring the pouting mutt. “He always does that bit, like I said before, ignore him whenever you feel like it.”
She simply nodded in return.
Before Sirius could say anything further, Harry said what was on his mind, “Did you bust into my room to tell me about why there were burns from Holy Light and destroyed furniture earlier?”
“Uhh,” Sirius sheepishly blundered. “I found us the perfect place to live! I already bought it and took care of everything so we can move in. The floo guy is coming within a week just in case we need it, so we should ward up the house and alter what we need to by then.”
“Sirius,” Harry warned. “The damage to the house?”
“Well… that Fallen bird and I came to an understanding is all. It’s good now.”
Harry sighed in defeat. Was this how peerages were supposed to work? He looked to Valerie for sympathy but received none. “Fine, whatever. Let’s go to this house. Just don’t die from their games. I wouldn’t forgive you for that, Padfoot.”
“Of course, pup,” he grinned in return. “You can count on me!”

“This place is yours as much as the rest of us, I don’t need to invite you in, right?”
“Nope. I don’t really know where the rule comes from, I just get a feeling. Like a magical barrier that tells me to stop.”
“I wonder where that comes from, the whole idea just sounds a little unnatural.”
Valerie nonchalantly shrugged, “I doubt vampires are natural in the first place.”
Harry entered his new house that was more of a mansion than he expected. It was already fully furnished and Harry couldn’t help but think that the furniture was familiar.
“Dobby and Winky already unpacked everything from our properties and vaults?”
“Yep,” Sirius answered. “Those little buggers are great, but…”
He looked back at Harry and his eyes focused on the corner by the doorway.
“DOBBY!” he yelled out in anger.
“Yes Dogfather Pafoo?” he popped into existence next to them.
“Why the hell is this stand here? I told you that it, the shrunken heads, and my mother specifically should have been left if not burned!”
Harry finally noticed the famous troll leg, umbrella stand that Tonks used to trip on. “Keep the stand, your niece used to trip on it all the time,” he said with a sad smile. “Maybe someone else will catch the curse as well.”
“Fine, pup, if you say so,” he turned back to Dobby. “The horrible painting and heads better be gone at least.”
Dobby grinned like an evil goblin. His devil nature was getting to the guy without a doubt. “Dobby decided that Mistress Wallyburger shouldn’t stay alone in the scary house and bad elf Kreacher should stay with Maaaaster,” he drawled slowly, “Black. Dogfather Pafoo should have his house elves of old where he resides.”
“DOBBY YOU BASTARD!” he turned into Padfoot, pouncing after him, only to be magically thrown into the ceiling.
Valerie smiled happily and Harry joined her in exploring the house. Dobby and Winky set it up so Kreacher had the attic as his shrine to Walburga and the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black with the shrunken heads of former servants while Harry and Sirius each had opposite wings of the manor, taking the two master bedrooms.
Harry hoped the distance would be enough to prevent him from barging into his room, but wasn’t hoping for much.
They spent the rest of the day warding the building and magically expanding certain areas before Harry took Valerie out shopping for clothes and everyday items. However, Harry learned a lot from the dhampir when it came to magical protections. Luckily for him, Arithmancy knowledge was very applicable to magic circles and it gave him another thing to spend his time on.
After he got a better grasp on his powers. And fixed his summoning pamphlets so they gave him the names of the summoners in case he knew them. And build his peerage further.
