The Messenger of Death - Chapter 346: alexander's karma
The bloody red beads on Al’s hand caught the attention of many people, even Mr. Guardian was quite shocked to see how bad Alexander’s Karma is. From where he was, unseen by anyone, he frowned at the blood-red color on the beads. ‘This might be worse than I thought. The laws of Karma have already been invoked, if I try to stop it and change the rules now, I might have to face Divine tribulation.’ Mr. Guardian thought.
‘This seems to be the Karma of taking the lives of mortals carelessly, but he still has a fraction of purity on his last bead. I see death’s sight on you young friend, I hope you can survive this… everything is now in the hands of his fate, I have already intervened a lot more than I should.’ Mr. Guardian sighed…
…
“Ha, I knew that a bastard like you was evil.” The phoenix prince stated happily. He knew what this meant for Al. Al’s chances to get the Midas petal this time was the lowest amongst those that were qualified to obtain the petal.
Al wanted to refute and insult the prince, but he forcefully held his tongue in fear that insulting the prince will weigh on his Karma and affect the fraction that hadn’t been dyed red. [‘Damn it!’] He thought with a frown. Things weren’t looking good for him.
‘Just how much evil has this boy done in his life for him to accumulate such heavy and bad Karma!? A Karma even worse than people that have lived 5 times his age!?’ Argus thought and looked at his beads that had been dyed red, his red wasn’t near as red as Al’s own.
Argus’s wristband has 9 beads, signifying that he was Heaven realm cultivator. Four of his beads had been dyed red and dropped his cultivation down to the Disaster realm.
‘This Alexander is evil, wouldn’t I be affected by his Karma if I protect someone like him from the repercussions of his evils?’ Sakura thought. She was starting to reconsider her decision of agreeing to protect Alexander.
Al looked at the Prince’s wristband and he couldn’t help but bite his tongue in jealousy. [‘How am I eviler than this proud pompous prick!?’] Al thought in frustration.
The Prince’s wristband had 11 beads on it, and out of the 11 beads, only 5 of his beads had been dyed red. And what pained Al the most was that the Prince’s dye wasn’t as bloody red as his.
Some of the people present that were familiar with each other began clattering and gossiping about Al.
“He might be a Class-1 bloodline holder, but he is evil. He must be from the legendary demon sect that I heard about in stories.” One of the Midas seed carriers whispered. She used her hands to cover her mouth as she whispered.
“That can’t be, do you think the Claus clan will associate themselves with a child of the demon sect?” Another Midas seed carrier that overheard the gossip spoke up.
“That’s true. The Claus clan won’t side with evil people.” Another person from the mass chipped in. The person that said this was a chubby middle age man that looked a bit disheveled. He took side glances at Al as he spoke. His intention was to stand in for Al with hopes that he can win a bit of Al’s trust by doing this.
Unfortunately for this chubby man Al wasn’t interested in what he was doing and was more focused on what to do at this point.
The Prince’s wristband has six pure beads that weren’t dyed by his Karma, which means that the Prince’s cultivation is at the Nirvana realm now. [‘If this prick decides to come after me when this starts, I wouldn’t be able to put up much of a fight, even if I summon Milo.’] Al thought.
[‘There will be no use in trying to look for a token that can increase our cultivation. It is clear that we are filled with bad luck.’] Xander said.
[‘I agree… I guess the only option now is to use one of our trump cards to support our cultivation base, the leftover Midas petal we have in storage.’] Lex chipped in.
The reality of the past predicaments had just dawned upon them again. Although the Dragnel brothers did say that the universe will be against them because they like one, possess the bloodline of a Class-0 Mythical beast, an abomination. The 4 of them always thought that most of their bad luck was because of that, but now, they realized that it was more than just being an abomination that made them unlucky.
They had a hand in this bad luck of a thing.
[‘The Midas petal it is…’] Al agreed. Even if he didn’t want to talk to them, he couldn’t help but agree with what Lex said.
[‘No wonder Mr. Guardian was trying to stop us from participating in this. It seems that he is aware of how bad the Karma on us is.’] Alex chipped in.
Al sucked his teeth and acted like nothing was wrong as if he wasn’t worried about anything. Although he was careful not to say anything insulting to the Prince, he still flipped his middle finger at the Prince before putting his hands in his pockets.
The Prince was infuriated by Al’s action and he placed a thumb on his neck, dragging it across his neck rather harshly.
“I hope you do try to kill me, I won’t mind using your piss royalty blood to dye my beads.” Al sneered as he dared the Prince to try and kill him. While he wasn’t afraid, he was wary of the Prince coming after him, but his self-indulgent nature wouldn’t let him not reply to the Prince’s taunts.
“I guess I wouldn’t be able to waste my time killing you because I will be too busy receiving rewards due to my luck. Oh, I wonder how you will get to the Midas petal now with such peasant luck.” The Prince replied.
“I don’t expect someone that hasn’t gotten a Midas petal before to understand my skillful ways.” Al retorted, pissing the Prince off some more with his oral jabs. A mischievous smirk crawled up Al’s face when he saw the pissed expression on the Prince’s face.
Satisfied with what he achieved.
“Now that everybody has put their wristbands on and know the state at which they are in, it is time to start the competition. But before then, a word of advice. Karma has an intricate and yet simple law, good for good and evil for evil, even during the competition the nature of your actions can affect you. Tread carefully. And also, this change in the rules concerning the Midas petal will continue, as long as Alexander attends, the rest of you will have a chance to obtain something.” Mr. Guardian mentioned.
Mr. Guardian did this to help Al as it was the few things that he could do to intervene. The only people that might want to kill him now are the Midas seed carriers, but the others, if they are sensible, wouldn’t want to kill Alexander. Even if he would have enemies, there would still be people on his side.
“With all of this said… let the competition commence.” Mr. Guardian announced and the monsters around vanished before the eyes of everyone. They were given a different task that wouldn’t favor the competitors.
The Prince glanced at Al and was about to make a move and attack him when he felt his world twisting. Not only the Prince was going through this, almost everyone else present was going through the same thing.
-Whoop!
They all disappeared from their positions.
One by one, 300 of the 303 competitors began appearing in random places on the island. Some in groups and some in ones.
Al, Sakura, and Argus remained on the shore of the beach.
“So fucking unlucky. Should we just forfeit this petal?” Al asked out loud.
Because he said ‘we’ Argus and Sakura thought that he was asking them for their opinions.
Argus was about to answer when Al realized that he said that out loud. “Don’t answer me, I wasn’t talking to you.” He stopped Argus before he could say a word and turned to look at the sea. Considering the thought of leaving the island.
“I would advise against that Alexander, this isn’t the same island that you arrived on. This isn’t a place on the 3 plain realms. It is an independent space that I created with the image of the island that you arrived on.
We are in the vast and infinite void, if you sail past what your eyes can see of the sea here, you will arrive at any random place in the infinite void, maybe a world that you never thought existed.
Even using teleportation talisman here is also dangerous.” Mr. Guardian stated, discouraging Al from bailing out now that he had already started the competition.
“Well, is there any other way to fuck me harder?” Al asked with a forced smile that was obvious…
