The Messenger of Death - Chapter 353: quarterfinals
Back at the Severance academy, the continental competition was still going on, driving the audiences and the competitors crazy with anxiety.
They had seen several individuals with talents that were hard to come by on the Lower plain realm. There were even representatives from the Central continent royal family here to participate in the competition. With two teams from the Severance academy qualifying for the quarter-finals, the Seraphim team was part of the teams that made it to the quarter-finals.
In a waiting room, built in the academy’s arena, a girl that Alexander would have been able to recognize sat down on a bench and was deep in her thoughts. A young lady with long silver hair that she braided. This young lady had long slender legs, wasp-waisted, her skin – tender to the eyes and so fair. The burst on her chest was the right size for her.
She had Sea-nymph ears, a dainty nose, and grey eyes. This young lady that Alexander would have recognized if he was here, is Camilla, Grace’s niece. The same lady that he was asked to protect once he becomes strong enough to.
However, before Alexander could even come to terms with this task handed over to him by Grace, Camilla ditched him and left him in the dust…
After leaving Alexander in the forest when her aunty left for the Celestial plain realm, Camilla made her over to the Central continent on the Lower plain realm. She was adamant about finding a way to the Ordain plain realm because she didn’t see much chance in increasing her cultivation power here on the lower plain realm.
For someone like her, that was born in the Celestial plain realm, as the daughter of the leader of their clan, Camilla had never really faced any real crisis. Her thought process and her approach to problems weren’t child-like, but they also weren’t the best choices that she could make.
When Camilla arrived in the Central continent, she joined the best sect there, becoming the direct disciple of the sect master.
With her talent and uniqueness of her ability, she easily became one of the strongest youngsters of her sect, winning her the chance to compete for the chance to ascend to the Ordain plain realm through the portal controlled by the royal family on the lower plain realm.
One thing that she did put in mind, is to not show anyone or tell anyone about her bloodline, nor has she used her bloodline ability since she joined the sect.
Heading to Ordain plain realm, at the moment, is her only objective. She had even forgotten about Alexander and was sure that he was dead.
“Now that we have made it to the quarter-finals, we have to beat this first team and take all the points. From here on, it’s a group stage. We will compete against the teams in our group, and if we come out with the highest points at the end, we will be able to qualify for the semi-finals.” A young man explained.
Camilla glanced at this young man for a second, before turning her attention else. This young man that spoke is her team captain, John. Although she is the strongest amongst those that came from her sect, Camilla isn’t much of a talker or group kind of person, so she couldn’t take the position of captain.
She wasn’t against another person taking the position, as long as the person was capable, and John had proven himself to be just that, multiple times.
“Here’s how this group stage is going to be. 40 teams made it to the quarter-finals, 10 teams have been grouped and will be competing against themselves.
The 2 teams with the highest points at the end of the group stage will be the ones to qualify for the semi-finals. Now here is the good news for us, 8 out of the 9 teams in our group aren’t a threat to us, the bad news is the threat that we have…
Students of the academy here, the Seraphim team. After making investigations, I found out that their strongest member hasn’t even attended the competition, something about him facing a punishment. I heard that he would soon be released though. The good thing is that it is not going to be today, increasing our chances of winning.
However, it is not going to be easy, the Seraphim team, as we all know is one of the teams that have dragged most of the attention during this competition. They are a team filled with people that have unique abilities.
Their team captain, Camron Avanti, is a darkness elemental user. A very rare one, he is going to be the most difficult to deal with. Then we have another guy named Adrian, with an ability that I don’t know what to call, but I can bet that it is related to sounds and vibrations.
And then we have Emma… this lady, I have no idea what her abilities actually are, but from what we have seen, she can provide her teammates with constant QI making it hard for them to get exhausted.
This would be the core of our issue. Then we have another person with an abnormal ability to transform his skin to metal that is hard to pierce through, Gustavo. He stands as the tank for their team, taking all the hits and drawing the aggro towards himself.
Although there is also, Katherine and another guy named Drake, we haven’t seen them do anything out of the ordinary except for their excellent battle tactics, they are not as special as the rest of their teammates.” John listed the names of the people that they were going against and their abilities too.
John made sure to take notes on all the teams that would likely make it to the quarter-finals, and he made sure to watch their activities, hence his notes on their abilities and his thoughts on how to counter them.
Camilla also paid attention to Camron, Adrian, and Emma. Even if her cultivation prowess was higher than that of Adrian and Emma, she didn’t rule them out of her list of people to be wary of because she had never heard of people with abilities like theirs, even in the Celestial plain realm.
But when it came to Camron, she was extra wary. Many people on the Celestial plain realm have heard about darkness elemental users, but never has she heard of one with fine affinity with the element like Camron.
Camron was a real threat to many of the teams competing in the continental competition. Some of the sect masters and prominent figures from other continents tried buying Camron from the Headmaster, but he blatantly refused their offers without any second thoughts.
What he wanted the most was their jealousy, and that they were providing him with.
“So how do want us to deal with this team? If we are planning to go for first place in our group stage?” a young man wearing a face mask that only covered his nose to his chin asked. He had black earrings, and painted his fingernails yellow and black, matching it with the yellow hair that he had on his head.
“That my friend, Victor, is exactly what we are going to aim for. The group stage is going to be a 6 on 6 tag team, but only 3 from each team can be on the battle ring. If the remaining 3 want to enter the ring, they would have to substitute someone… so I have thought of a few participant combinations that the Seraphim team can use.
They might start with Gustavo, Katherine, and Adrian if they want to test our strengths, but I doubt they would want to fish in troubled waters.” John looked at Camilla when he said that.
She too had caught the attention of many people, not only because of her attractive nature, but her abilities too.
“However, I doubt that they would do that, so here’s what they are most likely to do. The people that will be coming out first will be Camron, Adrian, and Emma. Camron is the only Nirvana realm cultivator in their team, while the rest have all made it to the late stage of the Disaster realm. We have two Nirvana realm cultivators in our team and remain eight are disaster realm cultivators.
Because of these odds, they will try to take out our strongest or weakest first, and that’s where Emma comes into play. If she has Adrian protecting her while she provides Camron with unlimited QI, he will be able to stand his ground against two Nirvana realm cultivators; leaving Adrian, who will also have access to unlimited QI to be able to protect her. With that, he would be able to beat any of the Disaster realm cultivators on our side, easily.
And after that, he would be able to provide assistance for Camron that will be fighting against our Nirvana realm cultivators, putting us in a bad position.” John paused, revising his plan once again. He was sure that the Seraphim team would take this approach because it was the easiest and surest way for them to win.
“I, Victor, and Camilla will be the ones to start. I and Camilla should be able to keep Camron busy while Victor deals with Adrian and Emma as fast he can. If he can do that, then the win will be for us.” John finished.
“I thought you said that Camron will most likely try to fight off two Nirvana realm competitors on his own, you are not a Nirvana realm cultivator, so why are you trying to fight him with Camilla?” Victor asked.
“Victor, if you and Camilla go ahead and face Camron as I speculated, then we will lose. However, if you, a Nirvana realm cultivator deals with Adrian, I doubt he will be able to keep up even with the support from Emma. Once you have taken Adrian and Emma down, the three of us will deal with Camron together. And although it pains me to say this, the rest of their teammates are stronger than everyone else in our team except for me, Victor, and Camilla.” John replied.
‘If I use my bloodline to battle with this Camron, he wouldn’t be a match for me, however, I hope it doesn’t come to that. I don’t wish to reveal that I have a bloodline here on the Lower plain realm.’ Camilla thought before she closed her eyes…
