The Messenger of Death - Chapter 363: PREPARATIONS
Over at the Severance academy’s side, unknown to almost everyone in the Severance academy, there were unwanted people surrounding the borders of the academy secretly. These unwanted people were all members of the ‘exiled soldiers syndicate’.
The members of the syndicate were over a hundred in number, with the weakest of them being in the first rank of the Nirvana cultivation realm.
On strategic positions on the borders of the academy, metal rods riddled with runic alphabets had been buried into the ground by Shi Li. He was following the directions on the formation scroll that he got from the Patriarch of the Kawataro family.
The effect of this formation is basically suppression. When done right, everyone within the formation will have their cultivation suppressed until they are no different from mortals. It was written on the formation scroll that it could even suppress cultivators that had already made it to the Spirit Transformation realm.
Basically stating that it could suppress everyone in the Lower Plain realm because the Spirit Transformation realm is a stage above the constraints of the Lower Plain realm. If anyone had made it to that cultivation sage here, the Excepto would have forcefully drawn them out of the Lower Plain realm.
And as for the ones laying down this formation, they can be exempted from the effects of the formation if the person in control of it draws a permission rune on them. With that rune, they would be able to use their cultivation powers inside the formation.
With all of this being said, Shi Li had enough confidence in saying that they could purge this Continent of the Severance academy once they begin their massacre.
The Patriarch of the Kawataro family sent some of his clan’s people to join the syndicate in carrying out this massacre. He had hopes that when the Severance academy was out of the way, he could deal with the problems that the Government was giving him, properly.
Although the Patriarch of the Kawataro has to be wary of other Sects and Academies around, he didn’t think that they were as overbearing as the Severance academy.
Desire had been following Shi Li around while he was placing these rods around the severance academy.
“How much more until we are ready for this?” Desire asked.
She had been losing her patience as each second passed. Desire was quite eager to kill the students and staff of the Severance academy, over the years, they had caused a lot of headache and trouble for the syndicate.
“Just a little more and the formation will be complete… it’s just that, there might be a loophole in this formation for the Severance academy people to exploit.” Shi Li replied as he continued drawing runes on a metal rod in his hands.
“A loophole? What is it?” Desire asked with a frown.
“There is another formidable formation barrier in the academy. Although I have blocked every possible exit that they can use to escape, I haven’t been able to cross that barrier, even when I used my full strength.”
“Then why didn’t you call the rest of us to help you destroy the barrier?”
“Because the barrier is capable of returning the attack to us several times stronger than what was used on it. And when it has reached a certain threshold, it will notify the people of the academy that someone is trying to breach the barrier. It wouldn’t have been worth it.” Shi Li stabbed the metal rod in his hand into the ground as he finished explaining to Desire why he chose not to touch the barrier.
Understanding Shi Li’s reason, Desire couldn’t help but wonder how much this would affect her plans of killing all of them. “How much is this going to affect our operations?” She questioned.
“I don’t know, but the barrier wouldn’t affect this formation that I’m setting up now. Though, whatever that is inside the barrier in the Severance academy wouldn’t be affected by the effects of this formation that I am setting up. However, once whatever or whoever that is in the barrier is brought out, they would be no different from mortals as long as this formation is still being used.” Shi Li said confidently.
“Good, hurry it up. Who knows what might happen if we delay this operation any longer. Although their security is a bit lax because of the Continental competition, there are still some people on watch. Having anyone discovering us before the formation is activated will spell failure for us.” Desire ushered.
She couldn’t help but feel nervous, as if something wrong was going to happen to them during the operation even with the formation aiding them.
“I’ll go as fast as I can, Amitabha.” Shi Li replied.
…
In the Celestial Plain realm, on the Claus clan’s territory,
Many of the infrastructures around had been riddled with cracks and human-shaped craters. Part of the earth had been frozen and several mountains were covered with ice, making the mountains look as if their basic components were ice instead of rocks.
-Boom!!
Nana’s back hit a frozen mountain, making the whole mountain tremble. Web-like cracks started to appear on the mountain from the point where her back had hit it.
“Cough, cough.” Nana coughed so hard that her chest hurt.
She looked down at her cloth that was glowing. The nightgown she always had on is a protective treasure that her father gave to her ever since she was little. He was scared that with his daughter’s attitude, she would get herself killed by an expert if she was left alone to wander the Celestial Plain realm.
The nightgown could change its form to whatever Nana wanted it to be. The nightgown was also the reason why Nana didn’t take much damage after hitting this colossal ice mountain.
“I’m glad to see that my gift is still effective.”
Darrel hovered in front of Nana while she was still plastered on the mountain. He was feeling proud of his daughter after having a little spar with her. Although he had suppressed his cultivation prowess until it was lesser than Nana’s own, for a minute. After the minute went by and he stopped suppressing his power, Nana was still able to hit him 3 times.
As a father, Darrel couldn’t help but feel proud of Nana. After not seeing her for a while, her battle sense and skills had some changes to them.
“Hmph! Shameless old man.” Nana muttered as she glared at her father. He clearly didn’t hold back after a minute passed. “What do you enjoy in beating me up when you were always stronger than me?” She rolled her eyes and used her elbows to push her body off the frozen mountain.
Nana hovered in the air, right in front of Darrel. She looked at his bleeding nose and a snort escaped her.
“Ah, Natalia, you and I both know how this is going to stop, right?” Darrel smirked at his daughter. “But I do have to say, your moves were unorthodox and unpredictable. Don’t you think that it is an achievement to be able to hit my face 3 times in a row?” Darrel pushed his chest forward as he spoke.
The moves that gave Nana the chance to land 3 hits on her father were moves that she picked up from Alexander when she was training him. He always did something unexpected that resulted in him almost landing a hit on her. But because of the difference in cultivation between Alexander and Nana, Alexander couldn’t successfully land a hit on her.
But when it came to Nana and her father, the difference between their cultivation prowesses isn’t as big as the one between Nana and Alexander. Hence the reason why she was she was able to hit her father 3 times.
“I’ll relay your words to grandfather and tell him that he has achieved a lot by being able to hit your face 3 times in a row,” Nana replied.
“Ahem!!” Darrel’s chest deflated as he looked around nervously. “I was just joking, your grandfather doesn’t need to know about this.” A smile crawled up his lips.
Seeing her father’s confidence deflate after mentioning his father, an innocent and playful smile appeared on Nana’s face.
“Natalia,”
“Yes, father?”
“Did anything happen to you while you were on the Lower Plain realm? I heard that some members of the Zhen Clan are also on the Lower Plain realm, did they cause any trouble for you?” Darrel questioned.
“Do I look like someone who can easily be bullied, father?”
“No,”
“Exactly, they wouldn’t dare start a fight with me if I don’t dare to do anything excessive. Besides, they help me watch over my disciple sometimes.” Nana replied as she began to descend from the sky.
Darrel followed right behind her.
“This disciple of yours, I really want to meet him.”
“Father, you will see him when he comes to the Celestial Plain realm on his own, but for now, please don’t make any direct attempt to bring him here, please.”
Hearing his daughter plead with him, Darrel responded with a nod after making a mental note not to involve himself in this, for now.
