The Military System - 1 New Begining
That was the first thought which came into Add’s mind as he slowly opened his eyes. His body was aching as if he had been thrown down from a moving vehicle. His eyes took some time to adjust to the light, and when they did, he saw a bright blue sky above him, with beautiful clouds floating around.
“When were the skies above Dresden this clear ?” he thought
Years of intense warfare had turned the skies of most of the major cities of the world murky and full of dust and smoke. It had already been years since Add had seen such clear skies. He realized that he was lying on the ground and tried to get up when suddenly a massive pain assaulted his brain as if someone just hammered it.
“Guh!”
The pain was so intense that he, a veteran soldier fainted right on the spot. After about half an hour, he regained his senses. Struggling to get up he found himself beside a narrow river which was flowing slowly. He crawled towards it and looked at the water. Reflected in it was not the face of a 35 year old soldier, but that of a young boy in his early teens. He had silky black hair with some silver streaks here and there. His eyes were heterochromatic, the left one a crystal like blue, the right a crystaline red. His face was the same as that when he was young but much more refined, making him look attractive to both sexes.
“So …it really happened…”
Add realized that something strange had happened to him. When the pain hit his head, a stream of memories not belonging to him flooded his mind. These were the memories of a young boy called Andrew who was an orphan. He grew up in an orphanage which sheltered him for as long as he could recall. It was a humble place but due to the donations of some people the orphans lived a more or less stable life. When Andrew became 15 years old he had to leave the orphanage as it was the rule for boys of 15 to leave. He had left the townand had turnedto the life of a hunter hunting small prey and selling them in a big city. However just a few months after he began, one day he was hunting in a forest when he saw a strange stone poking out of the face of a cliff. It was an oval stone which was black like obsidian yet had a strange shine to it, as if giving of light. When Andrew saw this stone he was captivated and decided to take it.
Unfortunately for him, as soon as he had taken the stone his foot slipped and he fell from the cliff, although the cliff was only about 30 feet high he tumbled down and his head bashed against a tree and then all went black. As it appeared the shock ofimpact had caused a stroke killing the boy. But through some strange event, Add who had also died, his soul somehow took hold of this body right after the original owner’s soul had departed.
Add was an atheist. Being a soldier he was taught practicality and science, and never to trust in stuff like the supernatural. However now, this seemed like the only possible scenario. From the memories of this body Add realized that he was in a very different world from Earth. This was a world of sword and Magic. Here science had stagnated and instead magic, which was thought to be a thing of fantasy was real. This was a world ruled by strength where the biggest fist always won. The law of the jungle prevailed here. Add didn’t find much from the memory, as Albert, had not been keen on learning new things. All he got to know were some basic information about this world. The world was called Istria by its residents. Aside from humans there were many other races here like Elves, Werebeasts, Demons, Dragons, Dwarves, Fairies etc. There were also beasts which posed a constant threat to humans and the other races. He was currently in a country called Reingleif. Its local language which was similar to English in many regards. The currency used here was divided into coins. It went as follows :
100 copper coins = 1 silver coin
100 silver coins = 1 gold coin
100 gold coins = 1 White gold coin
Aloaf of bread cost around 5 copper coins, as such food here was quite cheap.
After going through the memories Add got a brief gist of the world he was in. Although his head was still hurting a lot, Add endured it and cleared his face with the cool river water. He had already accepted the reality. He was a soldier who had been through hell and back many times, this with his training from a very young age had already made him very adaptable to his situations. He closed his eyes and wondered.
“For me to have reincarnated in this world…is it a good thing or bad ?”
Add from as long as he could remember was a soldier. He was trained from when he just began to walk, at the age of 15 he was inducted into the army. His life had only been mission after mission, killing people and watching his comrades die. Add didn’t have much emotions and the little he had were always under his control, yet he was but human. Years of bloodshed, the screams of his dying enemies, the faces of his dying comrades still remained fresh in his mind. He remembered the tens of children who were blown to bits by a bomb, he remembered the mothers who died protecting their children, the couples who were killed in each others arms. Those scenes became nightmares, dread dreams. Haunting him everyday. As such Add had long wanted to die. He was just too tired of all this. And when he finally thought he would have his rest, he found himself in a new body in a new world.
Add shook his head and stood up. Since he was alive again he would live this life. He straightened his rough clothes which were torn here and there due to the fall and decided to head to the nearby city where the previous owner of this body sold his hunts. Checking his clothes Add found some copper coins barely enough for two meals. But then he found the small oval black stone the predecessor had died obtaining. He took it in his hand and examined it. It was small enough to fit in his palm and looked like an egg. For this piece of rock a person had needlessly died.
Suddenly the rock began glowing as cracks appeared in it. It began giving off light so bright that add had to close his eyes.
*Crack*
The stone then shattered and the light died down. Add opened his eyes and saw that the shiny black stone had broken into many tiny pieces and the pieces had become dull grey.
“Well that’s strange-”

A series of lines suddenly appeared in his head Surprising him. At that time Add had no Idea, that this was the beginning of his story…that this was the story fate had picked for him, yet how he wrote it would be up to himself only.
