The Military System - 11 Controlling the Situation
A group of 11 hobgoblins had been attracted by the noise and scent of blood. They looked at the many bodies of goblins lying all over the place, and became enraged. They spread apart and charged at Add aiming at him with large clubs easily weighing over 30 kilos in their hands. One smash from it was enough to kill Add. That is if he let them get close. Add aimed and pulled the trigger, his marksmanship was pretty good, the leading hobgoblin’s head was pierced by the bullet but it didn’t burst, proving how thick its head was.
[Ding! You have killed Hobgoblin × 1 !]
[Ding! You have received 50 Exp. and 15 CP!]
The other Hobgoblins, however didn’t bat an eyelid watching their leader die. They kept charging at Add who fired a few more shots and then retreated. One hobgoblin’s shoulder was hit, another was shot in the leg and it fell howling. Although Add’s woundshad mostly healed, his body was fatigued. Thankfully, the M20-A’s firepower was enough to deal with the Hobgoblins. Add, took help of the forest terrain and his night vision, and killed all of the hobgoblins.
[Ding! You have levelled up!]
From them he earned a total of550 Exp. And 165 CP coupled with the other kills, he had got a lot of Exp. and CP. From this battle, Add had earned a lot and also levelled up twice. He levelled up [Pistol Mastery] to level 5, and put two stat points each into Agility and Endurance. He then looked at the combat knife which had been badly damaged during the battle, and decided to keep it in his inventory, although it was of no use, maybe it would come in handy. He bought 10 [Basic Healing Serum] for 50 CP and 10 [Basic Stamina Serum] for 50 CP. The Stamina serum when drunk helped him curb 25% of his fatigue.

Add quickly cut off the ears of any goblin he could find and also of the hobgoblins, his sack which he had thrown away earlier was, fortunately still intact. There were a lot of goblin ears and soon it was filled to the brim and was quite heavy. Add, sadly had to leave many ears behind as he could not carry them anymore. He could not put the sack in his inventory. Only things bought from the system shop could be stored in the inventory, 99 of the same item per slot. He quickly left the forest and returned to the road, within an hour he was back in town. The city guards were a bit surprised to see the young boy whose body was stained in blood and gore, and carrying stuffed to the brim sack on his back.
“Oh my!”
A receptionist, whom Add went to complete his quest exclaimed as she saw the large number of goblin ears. She hurriedly called the higher ups. Add was hurriedly pulled into a private room and sometime later a few important members of the guild came to meet him. Leading them was a man in his fifties, whit a strong build. He had a square face with some scars and sparse ashen hair which betrayed his age. His eyes, however were very stern and still. The man sat on a chair facing Add while the others stood behind him.
“Well hello there Mr….Add. I am Jim Kelleth, the guild master of this guild.” The man introduced himself
“En”
Add slightly nodded in reply. A slight glint flashed in the eyes of the guild master Jim but continued in placid way.
“So I hear you encountered a goblin horde ? And there were over 70 goblins ? Can you explain in details ?”
Add nodded and gave a detailed explanation. Of course he didn’t talk of the gun and said that he killed them off using guerrilla tactics and such. The fact that the fired bullets, and the empty shells and empty magazines vanished by themselves after sometime was a great relief. The guild master patiently listened without any words. Finally when Add finished, he asked few other questions, and let him go. Add was handed a total of 9 silver coins. This included the rewards for the quest as well as bonus rewards for slaying hobgoblins and providing information.
After Add left, the guild master along with five other people were seated in his office. His expression was very serious.
“This is getting quite troubling. To think the goblins have amassed such numbers so close to our city! What are the adventurers doing !? Are you all meatheads!? Answer me damn it!” He roared furiously.
The other people looked at each other, their faces were also tense.
“Guild master that….” a woman tried to speak
“Leave it! I know. The adventurer’s think that goblins are small fry, so they do not care for their subjugation quests.” He sighed. “But look where that has got us to !”
“Vlad! Take some men with you and check out that area the boy talked of! If what he said is true, which I think it is, then we have to act immediately!”
“Yes Guild Master!” A burly tanned man named Vlad replied in a loud voice and stormed out of the room.
“The rest of you, I want you all to gather information about goblin activity in the surrounding regions. I want to know if those filth are spawning in other places too!”
“””Yes!”””” three other men replied and went to do their work. The Guild Master then turned to the only woman left in the room.
“Listen, I want you to collect all information about that adventurer named Add”
“Eh? Guild Master you want me to spy on him ?” the woman asked
“No. Not spy on him, but tell your sources to gather all information they can find on him”
“But…..do we really need to go after him, I mean what could be wrong with him ?”
“…..You see, I feel that the boy is not ordinary. Back then when I first saw him, his face was too calm for his situation, as if didn’t put us in his eyes. So I released some of my mana towards him, but he was unaffected by it….”
“….that…..is to withstand the Guild Master’s mana without any reaction…..indeed…that is…..”
“Yes….I believe there is much more to this boy than what we can see. Furthermore he killed so many goblins and even hobgoblins which are D rank monsters by himself. He must me very strong, or have some secret….. ”
The woman nodded her head agreeing with the Guild Master. Now that he mentioned all this, indeed it was quite strange. She also saw the boy, but other than his good looks, he didn’t look very strong.
“Oh yes….make sure he doesn’t get a wind of your actions…..or it may become troublesome.”
The woman bowed and left the room. Watching her leave the guild master sighed massaging his temples. He looked out of the window gazing at the stars and wondered.
“What kind of troubles will show up in the coming days…..?”
