The Military System - 13 Emergency Quest 2
“What a stupid quest! Why do I a C-rank has to go hunt goblins ? Just let the rookies do it!”
“Right! Those small fry are a waste of time ! I could have done a better quest but now I have to do this useless work!”
Many Adventurers were grumbling, but no one dared go and complain to the Guild Master, cause here his words were absolute. Add looked around and found a few mages here an there. Mages generally wore robes and some times had light bits of armour here and there, which provided little protection from attacks, but helped them stay light and move around easily. They used Wands, Staffs or books as medium to enhance their magical prowess. Add wondered if he could use magic someday. The system being a strange entity, the possibility was not nil.
After a few hours Jim the Guild Master appeared before the Adventurers. He was dressed in simple clothes with light metal armour on him. There was a large broadsword on his back. Following him were 4 men and one woman. He looked at the group of Adventurers and nodded. Jim went to the Request Board and faced all the people present there.
“*Ahem*…As you all have heard, today we are going to eradicate the Goblin Infestation in the surrounding forests. Many villages near Rigel already complained of increased goblin activity for the past few months. Initially we felt that it was a minor problem and some subjugation quests were enough to deal with it.”
“But recently we found some alarming information about the goblin infestation, which is that its much worse than we expected it to be. The goblins are numbering in the hundreds, probably around a thousand of those filthy critters are all around Rigel now. Presence of Hobgoblins and goblin champions has been confirmed as well! And there is also a possibility of a Goblin King leading them!”…..
Many Adventurers went silent hearing that a Goblin king may be present. Goblin Kings were basically, Lords of the Goblin race; these goblins had gained intellect and ambition, allowing them to command hordes to great effectiveness. They were considered B-A ranked monsters and were a very commendable foe. Their ability to lead other goblins was very good, and they themselves were even stronger than Goblin Champions.
The Guild watched the faces of Adventurers who were complaining, become ugly and sneered. A goblin Horde itself was not much of a threat, but a thousand goblins led by a King, was a very dangerous force. Many villages and towns had fallen to sudden attacks by Goblin kings and their minions over the years and no one wanted Rigel to be the same. He continued his speech…
“I believe you all can understand the seriousness of this matter! To solve this situation we will divide our forces into four groups. The first group led by Me and Vlad, willhead north where the probability of the main nest of goblins being, is the highest. The next group led by Lee would head south, next group led by Hector would go to the east and the last group led byMason would go West.”
“Prepare yourselves, and don’t slack off. The guild will prepare food and water for you, just make sure you are present tomorrow at daybreak or you will face the consequences.”
Add looked at the 4 men beside the Guild Master. They along with the Guild Master himself, were the 5 A ranked Adventurers of Rigel. Add felt a sense of danger from those people.
“Those five are much stronger than they look. For the current me….If I had to face them one on one, in a direct fight….. I would stand no chance….”
He contemplated silently. Add had no plans to stay in Rigel forever. He only wanted to earn some quick money and travel around this world. But he knew that he was being watched and he had a rough idea that it was the Guild Master. The first time they met, he felt a sense of pressure from the Guild Master, which later disappeared. Although it was painful, his mental strength was enough to face off against it. Add was sure that this work of that man. After all a rookie Adventurers slaughtering a horde of goblins which even had hobgoblins was no little matter.
He looked on as The Guild Master gave some minor instructions and left. He showed no signs of interest in Add at all. Soonthe Adventurers began dispersing to make their preparations. Add too decided to take the day off and go to the library. Just as he was exiting the guild bluishtransparent screens popped up before him
[Ding! New Mission Issued : Cull the Goblin Infestation]
[Quest details : Goblins have infested the surrounding forests of Rigel! Kill as many goblins as possible and find their leader and kill it to complete the quest. Killing goblins during this quest will give 2x bonus Exp. And CP rewards!

Time Limit : None]
Add’s eyes widened at the generous rewards shown. This sudden mission came quite unexpectedly and its rewards were many times higher than any previous quest. He moved out of the guild towards the library and on the way asked the system in his mind.
“System why is the rewards so high this time ?”
[Host, the system is a fair entity which provides rewards based on the difficulty of the Mission. The more difficult a Mission is, the better the rewards. The System advises the host to keep this in mind]
Add nodded. The rewards being this high meant that the mission was going to be tough one. He wondered if the guild had a proper plan to deal with any unexpected situations. Add went to the library to collect more information on Goblins and their various races, their habits and any useful information he could find. Having total information about your enemy was always desirable.
The next day the Adventurers all reported to the guild at daybreak. From there the four teams were divided by the staff. Add was assigned to the group under the A-ranked Mason. He was a tall man whose weapon of choice was a two handed longsword. The group had 40 people with 6 B ranked and 7 C ranked adventurers which consisted the main force. While the rest were low ranked adventurers including Add, and were to provide supportto the maim force. All Adventures were given a small bag of food and a sack to collect proof of their kills. Jim, the Guild master then addressed the groups explaining the plan once more.
“All Adventurers will stick to your groups and try your best not to be lost! We will be going deep into the forest and goblins are not the only threat there! If you separate from the group you may die any time! Follow the orders of your leaders properly and try not to die! That is all! You go in that forest and you kill any goblin that you see! Do you fools understand?”
“”””Yes!!!””””” The adventurers roared in chorus
“Louder you bastards !”
“””””Yes !!!!!!!!””””””
“Good! Then we will have a feast after we get back! Now move!”
They all boarded carriages arranged by the guild and went out in their respective directions. Add who was sitting in the corner of a carriage, felt all this quite familiar. He remembered his commanders barking orders then being dispatched to missions along with his comrades. He sighed as he looked at his fellow adventurers chatting in excitement about the quest.
“Some things never change…”
