The Military System - 4 Town of Rigel
Add thought for a while and decided to allot 2 points directly to strength. Now, back on Earth many gamers invested heavily on Agility in their early levels. The reason was simple. So that they could run away fast whenever they faced a stronger enemy than themselves. But Add was a soldier.
He belonged to an elite unit which was trained for the sole purpose of being the reapers in the battlefield. Their sole job was to eliminate all enemies. It was hammered into him from a tender age that soldiers never run away, they fight. Not to mistake it as being a muscle head, but he as a soldier was taught to fight most efficiently in any and every circumstances, using anything to his aid, leveraging anything he could find to his benefit. As such, over time, an innate arrogance steeled itself in his mind, and he despised always running away from his enemies. Though, sometimes one had to retreat one step in order to advance two, that never meant one should always keep avoiding challenges.
For the Skill points he used 1 Skill point each to upgrade [Unarmed Combat Mastery], to Level 2. As soon as he did so, he felt a surge of power run across his body, and he felt as if he had become a little stronger. He rechecked his stats

It appeared that raising levels of [Body Strengthening] rose his strength stat as well.
“At least the evaluation is bearable….” he sighed. But looking at the pathetic amount of CP he frowned.
“System, what do I do to get more quests ?”
[Host, the system issues quest in order to help the host get stronger. However, the system is fair and will not blindly give quests to the Hosts. Quests appear based on the Host’s circumstances, or some special occasions or when the System deems it necessary to issue quests in order to ensure the Host’s growth. The System encourages the host to achieve the most on his own while helping him in times of need .]
[As such quest will appear in due time and when needed. The host is advised to work hard and not be overly dependent on the System.]
Add was speechless hearing this. He thought it would be like an typical RPG where you just had to complete one quest after another. He remembered some of his comrades enjoyed reading fantasy novels and those novels would often contain almighty systems which turned a weak protagonist into an overlord as if making a cake. But that was not the case, with this Military System.
“System, why do I feel scammed ?”
The system refused to reply, making add Sigh. Ai! What a troublesome System it was. Soon the small forest road merged into a larger road. Here he was able to see many people walking to and fro, and every once in a while carriages drawn by horses and some times even by strange beasts passed through. Rigel was one of the many frontier towns of Reingleif, yet it was also a bustling hub of commerce in the locality. Being the only large town in the surrounding hundred kilometres, people from many small villages and many traders frequented it for trade and commerce.
Add soon reached the town. It was surrounded by a five metre tall stone wall. There were gates on the wall each at the four main directions. As he neared the gate, he observed some strong looking men dressed in chainmail and light armour guarding the gate. These men were from the city guards appointed by the local administration. Their job was somewhat like the police back om earth, maintaining law and order. Recalling his memories, Add took out a copper coin and passed it to one of the guards who took a short look at him and let him pass. Any normal person entering Rigel had to pay one copper coin as tax.
After entering the town, Add looked around himself. The main street was well paved with stone and quite wide while many small roads and alleys branched off here and there. The houses and buildings were mostly wooden, one could also observe some made of stone and clay bricks as well. The poor people were dressed in dull coarse clothes which lacked colour, while those who were well off, had linen clothes. Some rich people however wore high class clothes.
As his predecessor was based in this town for a few months, Add was more or less familiar with most of the areas. He walked into the market region, where there were many stalls selling a variety of things, from food to jewellery. Add soon found what he was looking for, a few meat shops lined the two sides of the street. Pigs, cattle, chickens and many other animals’ meat was available here. Add walked into a smaller meat shop to sell his rabbit.
“Excuse me, I would like to sell this horned rabbit”
The burly butcher who was cutting up some animal which Add could not identify raised his eyes and looked at the rabbit.
“10 coppers.”
He only said the price in a dull tone. Add handed over the rabbit and didn’t argue. Although horned rabbit meat was quite nice to eat, it only fetched good price if you sold many of them, as only the chest and leg meat of the rabbit was edible the meat at the other places was hard and dull tasting. Add took the coins and headed off. He now had around 25 copper coins, barely enough for a two day stay at a cheap inn.
“No matter what world you are in, money still is the most basic need….”
Add thought. When he was a soldier, he earned his bread by fighting for his nation. Although he knew many things, and was confident he could earn a decent living even if he retired from the army, but that was on Earth. Things were different here. At least for the current him who was quite weak and young, options were limited.
“Well, I will think of this things later, for now, lets find a place to rest.”
Add roamed the streets as the evening turned to night. He finally found a cheap inn which cost 10 copper for a day and night stay. The room was very small with a small straw bed and one window. This was the summer season so Add had no worries about cold. In his previous life he had slept in the dirt, in dessert sands and even on ice, so having a bed was already more than enough for him.
“Tomorrow I should get some information about this world. The previous owner knew too little.”
After deciding on a plan of action, he quickly fell asleep. Thus ended Add’s first day in this new world.
