The.Mistress - Chapter 18:Fight In Court
“What the fuck happened to you?” I growled seeing a scratch across Winter’s cheek.
Her face was wet with tears while her body trembled in obvious shock. She was goddamn pale as fuck and I hated the sight of it on her. I didn’t think twice and even forgot about my contract with Madame. I drew Winter tight against my chest and whispered reassuring words to her ear.
“Oh-oh! Look at the pimp!” The angry woman lashed out at the sight of me. “You think we’ll like the news you broke today? You think we’ll take the bait and believe your sham? That news was made up that you, the great Mr. Bruce Black, finally fell in love! Don’t fool us! The whole city knows you’re nothing but a cold bastard! You only did that to cover up your dirty secret! You’re nothing but a pimp and your site is a big prostitution arena!” The bitch even spat on my building. “And that woman is one of your whores!”
I released Winter and strode towards the ugly woman. I didn’t think twice. I backhanded her before she dropped to the marbled lobby floor and the people shrieked in shock. I could do just that without blinking. In the army, women used to be the best spy because they’re thought to be vulnerable and weak. But the pussies could actually be the goddamn lethal weapons. It’s why they say, all’s fair in love and war. Yes, because in war, we didn’t recognize gender. And this woman just declared war with me.
“An eye for an eye.” I told her through gritted teeth and clenched my fists before my eyes scanned the place. “Get the fucking guards!”
It’s then I noticed there were actually more like her that trespassed my building. Only few but still many for the guards to stop. Few cameras and phones were directed at us, probably taking videos of what’s taking place. What the fuck were they even doing making a scene in my territory?
“I’m going to sue you!” The woman screamed while cupping her cheek.
“Good. Our lawyers will talk then.” I said before turning to where Winter stood to scoop her up in my arms. “You can hurt me all you want, I dare you.” I declared to the people around us. “But never ever hurt Winter Shadow or there’ll be hell to pay!”
I left the goddamn scene and climbed into the opened elevator. I punched our floor while holding Winter tight into my arms. She was silent but her body was still trembling. The elevator, thank fuck, was fast to arrive at the highest floor and I marched into my own office.
“Hold all calls, Jet. Cancel all the schedules.” I told my secretary without looking at him.
I sat on the couch and put Winter on my lap while petting her hair. Her skin was cold and a little damp with sweat.
“Im sorry.” Winter whimpered.
“Shh.” I silenced her and kissed her head. “I dont see any reason why you should apologize.”
“I didn’t pay them.” Winter confessed and I remembered my previous order of her to pay those fuckers who were making scandals in social media. “I want to maintain good name in our business. If we pay them, it’s just the same as admitting what they’re accusing about us are true.”
“You’re right. We’ll fight them in the court. File complaint and restraining orders. I’ll put twenty-four seven bodyguards on you, just in case.”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” Winter drew away and frowned up to me.
“Winter, those people are classic mobs. If something worse happens to you, I won’t forgive myself. So better do as I say.”
Winter shuddered at the idea of someone harming her. I pulled her tight into my chest again before rubbing her back with my hand.
“Shh. It’s not going to happen. I’m here. You’re safe as long as I’m here. I’ll take care of you.”
“Hold me, Bruce.” She whispered.
