The Moon Thief - Chapter 159
Heinald didn’t know how long he had walked, but he was sure it was more than half a day.
“Oh? Whats that?” As Heinald kept walking, he saw a skeleton ahead. Although it looked like a human skeleton, it wasn’t.
This skeleton had four arms and only four fingers. These fingers were abnormally long. This skeleton had two legs, but each foot had eight toes.
In his skull, two faces were intertwined. The sight he encountered made him very uncomfortable.
Heinald muttered, “This skeleton must belong to a Cursed.”
After he stopped examining the skeleton, he continued walking. He generally no longer heard the sound of drops of water, all he heard was his own breathing and the sound of footsteps.
But this situation began to change over time. He began to hear strange hums coming from the deep.
“Nyeek!”
Heinald heard a high-pitched scream from nearby. Then he noticed a large number of footsteps approaching him.
His ring radiated a silver gleam, and the ring turned into a silver beam of light that flew into his hand, taking the form of twin swords.
The light of the orb could only illuminate a hundred meters ahead. A hundred meters away, a hideous-looking creature with two intertwined faces entered his vision. It had four arms and a curved spine.
Before long, the number of these creatures began to increase.
“These things must be friends of the skeleton I recently encountered…” Heinald started to look at the Cursed, who were running towards him, a look of disdain in his eyes.
“The Cursed: People whose souls have been corrupted and lost control of their souls after being subjected to some kind of soul curse or soul experiment for a long time. The severe damage to their souls also greatly affects their physical structure.”
Heinald remembered a text from a source he had read a long time ago. In fact, he just took pity on these things. Who does not have consciousness, does not actually live; but they were nothing more than life forms that seemed to be alive.
“Let’s see how strong you are…” Heinald muttered and took a step forward, taking a firm position. He remembered the first time he had seen a Cursed; that Cursed was quite weak because the Apprentice had been killed by the Ainsars.
Heinald dodges the Cursed, who dashed towards him and swung his claw at his head, by taking a quick step to the right and cutting off his arm in one swift move.
When the cursed’s arm fell to the ground, he immediately went behind him and plunged his sword into the back of his head.
“Gwah!” A green liquid began to flow from the cursed’s severed arm and mouth, and he collapsed to the ground.
Heinald blocked the kick from his right, with the sword in his right hand as a shield in front of him, a swift swing of the sword in his left hand, and slashing the Cursed’s head in two.
“His physical strength is probably equal to that of someone who has managed to become a new Level 1 Ainsar…” Heinald calculated the strength levels of the two Cursed ones he had killed.
These power levels were even more harmless to him than a baby toy. Even if he just stood there all day doing nothing, he wouldn’t have been harmed.
Heinald simply quickly sliced up the dozens of Cursed rushing towards him. The twin swords in his hand automatically drew Dark Energy, and as a result, he used the power of Dark Fire. Naturally, swords covered with black flames could easily destroy their skin and bones in one stroke.
In a short time he killed hundreds of them.
“I think they’re done…” Heinald heard no more shouts and footsteps, beginning to think he had killed all the Cursed; however, the voice he heard from the deep made him abandon that thought.
Apparently, there was a lot more coming after him.
Frost Wave!
A blast of freezing air blew out from Heinald’s body, freezing all the Cursed who had come near him. He walked normally through the frozen cursed and continued to advance.
He walked for hours but did not encounter any other Cursed. The place was dead silent again. He could only hear the sound of his own footsteps and breathing.
It’s been a long time.
Heinald was excited when he saw the blue and white lights ahead, it was quite bothering him to concentrate on looking around for a long time.
As the light began to move east, he noticed that the road curved to the right.
“Hm? This is…” As Heinald entered a large room, the sight he encountered made his eyes widen.
In the middle of the room was a huge flower with ice-blue petals. This flower was over six meters tall, and the stem of this flower was covered with a kind of energy barrier. This flower radiated a frightening aura of Ice Elements. At the back were ice capsules that looked like eggs.
Heinald knew what this flower was.
It was a Dementor Frost Flower!
He was sure that the energy waves emanating from this Dementor Frost Flower were equal to a peak-phase Level 2 Ainsar. This flower was an extremely rare species and very dangerous.
When the Dementor Frost Flower opened its petals, beams of white and blue light began to dance around. Small pieces of ice formed on its leaves began to move like feathers in the wind and scatter around.
A wave of ice-blue light shot out from the two petals of the Dementor Frost Flower.
“Shit!” Heinald immediately activated the Blood Nightmare Shield. As the wave of light collided with the pale red barrier surrounding his body, a fierce cold and dense Ice Element Energy radiated out.
Heinald had to squint at the sudden pain in his brain. The reason for this sudden pain was that Blood Nightmare Shield lost twenty percent of its energy in a single attack. Cracks had appeared around the pale red barrier surrounding it.
“Infernal Fireball!” Flames of terrifying heat appeared in Heinald’s hand, and they gathered together to form a ball of fire. The resulting fireball instantly melted the surrounding ice, creating a layer of red light around it under the influence of intense heat.
He sent the fireball directly to the Dementor Frost Flower. The fireball, which radiated a scorching heat, began to fly, leaving scorching flames behind it.
*Shoushh!* A layer of ice appeared around the Dementor Frost Flower. The fireball exploded when it hit this layer, and half of the great room was engulfed by the scorching flames. The Dementor Frost Flower was not visible.
Magic Scroll: Divine Chaos!
Heinald took the scroll out of the dimensional pocket of his robe and sent Magical Energy to it. As the Dementor Frost Flower was engulfed by the flames, lightning bolts appeared above it, and fierce lightning streaks began to descend on the Dementor Frost Flower one after another. Each lightning streak caused the entire room to shake violently.
As he used two very powerful elemental spells in a short time, the surrounding elemental energy became very dominant.
When the flames dissipated, the Dementor Frost Flower appeared. The pool of lava that had formed beneath him was damaging his trunk, the light emanating from his leaves was greatly weakened. The energy field surrounding his body seemed to have completely disappeared.
*Crack!* The Dementor Frost Flower quickly closed its petals and opened them back at the same speed. When its leaves reopened, a blast of freezing ice spread and froze everything in the surrounding area, including the lava pool below.
An intense amount of Ice Element Energy began to gather in his petal.
“Not good!” Heinald cried out inside. His ring turned into a silver beam of light and took the form of a battle ax.
The Ice Element Energy that had accumulated in the petal of the Dementor Frost Flower exploded and turned into a streaky wave of ice that rushed towards Heinald.
Heinald activated the second property of the Attack-Type Magical Treasure, damage absorption, and hurled it into a streaking wave of ice towards him.
As the two attacks collided, intense waves of energy began to spread around. The black flames surrounding the ax seemed to be bubbling. The entire room had started to freeze completely, if a Level 1 Ainsar were there, he would transform into a snowman in a matter of seconds.
Heinald felt his entire body freeze, as he had guessed, his magical treasure’s absorption was not enough against this attack. The situation wasn’t going well for him, he’d better start thinking about something different.
