The Mystic Healer - Chapter 19
Heading into a big building, Lance saw many male and female students entering alongside him. There were only a handful of class rooms, but from discussing this with some of the more senior students, it turned out that the majority of the more advanced classes were in the afternoon while the more basic and introductory classes were in the morning. Wuxiaworld for visiting.
Either way, he was rather pleased that he would be able to begin his first class right away. His eagerness caused his mind to feel rather erratic as he tried to remain calm before entering the class room he was assigned to.
The room was filled with wooden desks as many students were already sitting down as the teacher was at her own desk, waiting for the remainder of the students to shuffle their way in so that she could begin the lesson of the day. This teacher wore a pair of glasses and was in a white robe with a design on the back to showcase that she was a teacher.
Depending on one’s background, sometimes if the expert was proud of the organization or clan they represented, they would add the symbol or design onto their clothes. In Lance’s case, he came from the Sacred Ember clan, but he couldn’t afford to have special clothes made with its crest, otherwise he would be wearing it with pride.
Still, it seemed that very few students he ran into so far were able to afford such clothes, so he did not feel bitter. Once he could get hired by an organization or even be rewarded by the academy by becoming stronger, Lance knew that it wouldn’t be long for him to make such arrangements.
“You must be Lance, it is a pleasure to meet you. Please stand right here so that you can properly introduce yourself to the rest of the students here.” the teacher told him as she gestured for him to stand in front of the class.
After several breaths of time, the remainder of the students attending the lecture have arrived and taken their seats. Therefore, the teacher told the class that Lance was a new student and allowed him to introduce himself.
“Hello everyone, my elemental affinity is the light element and I am an unranked mystic. I hope that we can all get to know each other and grow stronger.” Lance told the class before cupping his hands and taking a seat at an empty desk. Hearing his background, caused those not present earlier to gasp.
“Now, who can tell me what a Natural Elemental area is?” the teacher asked the class as not a single hand was raised to answer this question. “Well luckily for all of you, today’s lesson will be about this.”
“You see, a Natural Elemental area is a place where a mystic can absorb not just the natural mana our world gives off, but it allows the mystic to absorb their element itself much faster. You may have heard of special areas like volcanos, oceans, among others where mystics spend a large portion of their time training in.”
“This is because it nearly cuts training time in half depending on the location in order to rank up higher. However, although this is a wonderful benefit for those who are just trying to become higher ranked experts, there are negative setbacks to overusing such methods of training.”
“Those who over use these areas when they find them, are prone to grow their amount of mana output, but are unable to properly use their strength compared to those who train a little slower and go through more hardships. This is a reason why our Griffin Academy is against using said training methods for our students.”
“Only by experiencing learning new techniques and slowly building your strength, can you hope to become stronger than your peers who may even be of a higher mystic rank. Remembering this lesson will serve you all very well in the future, because once you reach a high enough mystic rank, quality means more than quantity.” the teacher explained to the class.
“They do not like to admit this, but many of the top tier organizations only choose to bring in new members who do not choose said training methods. Still, these organizations are forced to give their pure blooded members these types of training methods in order to seemingly stay ahead of their peers.”
“The only reason that this is acceptable to them, is because these top tier organizations have ways to lessen the inexperience gap faster than those without such great backgrounds. Therefore, do not be offended, and hope that one day you could be taken in and given the opportunity later on to train in said areas.”
“So for those of you who do not come from a very good background, it is wise to showcase that you can defeat those of a higher rank than you, by making sure to not take such shortcuts. Only then will you be considered top experts of your mystic rank. Living a longer life is enough for some of you to want to raise your strength quickly, but only those who are patient will achieve much more!”
After roughly three more hours lecturing the students on basic training methods in order to absorb natural mana from the world, the teacher dismissed Lance as well as the other students just in time for lunch. Learning so much, made Lance feel that he would become much stronger and could even assist his clansmen in the future even if he just took notes for some time.
