As the cold laugh stopped, the bandit saw three shadows suddenly appearing before of him.

Leading was a white haired youth who was looking at him with cold eyes. Behind this youth was a pretty girl and and calm looking blue haired young man.

‘These people too young! They are probably from Ascension City! I knew it! The leader became to greedy, in the end they still targeted us!’ The city below the three palaces had no official name as it was only a place used by the three palaces to recruit talents.

However, it was one of the biggest cities is the whole continent, so it obviously needed a name. In the end, it came to be known as Ascension City.

Louis frowned for a bit, “Mars, what if he doesn’t tell us? I think you were too harsh just awhile ago.

Mars just shook his head. “Even if he doesn’t talk, I can still get the truth out of him”

“Get the truth out of him? How?” Louis was still exceptical.

“You’ll see…” Mars only smiled at Louis and turned his gaze back at the bandit and asked with a cold voice, “You belong to a group with more than two hundred bandits right?

“W… will you spare me if I tell you?” The bandit already had low hopes of escaping alive even more so as he heard the conversation. He was a bandit, with his lowly character he would do anything in order to survive.

“I will spare you, I swear.” Mars answered him without hesitation.

The bandit was not sure if getting a quick response was a good or a bad thing. “Then… I… Fine, I’ll tell you… I do belong to a big group. On the southeast, a few tens of kilometers from here there is a rocky mountain range. That’s the place where our hideout is located, however you should know this mountain range extends for several hundreds of kilometers. If you want to find that hide out you need someone to guide you… After all, that place is full of countless pathways and crevices, getting lost there is easy, not to mention trying to find something there…” The bandit made the most harmless expression he could and smiled at Mars, however he would only make children cry with his ugly face.

“No need, you told me enough”, then Mars proceeded to walk right before the bandit and stretched his hand towards the bandit’s head…

“Wait! You said you would spare me!” The bandit panicked and started backing off.

“Don’t worry… This will not kill you” By the time he finished speaking his hand was already on the bandit’s head.

Ena behind him was also curious about what Mars was going to do. Back home, he often came up with many ingenious ways to use his powers. ‘Maybe he came up with something new…’

Arcs of electricity started running through Mars’ hands. Before the bandit could continue complaining, he felt his body go numb and soon enough, he lost consciousness.

Mars closed his eyes as well. Soon, arcs of electricity started flowing from the bandit’s body towards Mars.

Mars was currently using a technique he had found within his memories. It was a memory search technique, but it was quite complicated to use and there were many inconveniences while using it.

As for the negatives effects on the victim? They would forget everything Mars peeked at. However this was not that big of a deal. Most people had several memories regarding a single piece of information.

Mars suddenly saw countless images but they were moving at high speeds and they were blurry. He immediately searched for memories related to the rocky mountain range. ‘Found it!’ As soon as he found what he was searching for, he finished the memory search. But did not remove his hand from the bandit. More arcs of electricity started flowing from the bandit’s body towards Mars.

‘He is absorbing his energy!’ Louis who was watching this whole process was shocked by what he was seeing.

Mars was indeed absorbing this bandit’s energy. Although this was a cruel and inefficient method to increase his strength, it was good for crippling path gems. He did say he would spare him so he wouldn’t break his promise. However this did not mean he would go easy on him, this guy was a bandit and he was better of dead.

Without his rank 2 power level, it would be impossible for him to get out of this forest alive. And even if he did, he wouldn’t be able to train again. His path was severed!

Mars slowly removed his hands from the bandit. His power level had increased from 521 to 525.

After a second, the bandit also regained consciousness but had a headache and his body felt very weak as well. ‘What did he do to me?’

Mars ignored the confused bandit and turned to leave. “Let’s go! I already know where their camp is located. We should be careful as well, they have six people at early stage rank 3, sixty-seven rank 2s and a few hundred rank 1s.”

“You Was that soul search? I thought only spirit attribute users could use that?” Louis was shocked by what Mars suddenly revealed.

“It’s not soul search, it’s memory search”

“How is that different?” Ena asked this time.

“Soul search is related to a person’s soul. Memory search does not touch the soul, but the brain. Thoughts are physical patterns of electricity generated by the neurons in our brains. Since I’m master of lightning, I can naturally see and interpret these electrical patterns. However if these physical patterns are not active, then I can’t see them.”

“So I need to ask a question related to the topic in order to trigger these patterns. If my victim decides to not say a word, he would probably still think of the answer. Once he thinks about the answer I can take a peek at it through memory search.” Mars calmly responded, but he had a smug glimmer within his eyes. “Soul search on the other hand, does not need any preparations like memory search and you can search anything within a person’s soul, but the negative effects are far greater and the information comes in fragments.”

Louis and Ena had their eyes go wide and took a deep breath. ‘You can do that? How amazing is that? How did you even come up with that technique?’

“Maars your so amazing!” Ena happily went to hug his arm while she looked at him with shining eyes.

Louis on the other hand was feeling a bit down. ‘His ability to make new techniques is beyond amazing Compared to him, the ways I use my powers could at best be considered mediocre’

Close to the territories surrounding Ascension City, a rocky mountain range extended for hundreds of kilometers. This mountain range was an ideal place to hide. As the bandit had said, there were countless pathways, caves and crevices. Not to mention finding someone here, just trying to not lose your way was quite difficult!

In one of the countless mountains, there was a camp bustling with activity.

“Hurry! In this upcoming expedition we will be attacking Loudhorne Town! This is our biggest target so far! If I find out you’re slacking, you will be sent to lead the vanguard!” Currently a huge burly man with a giant sword on his back was screaming and giving out orders to hundreds of people who were moving equipment and preparing carriages.

Soon the burly man could hear footsteps. “Brother Oxon, the boss is asking when will the preparations be ready”

The burly man pondered for second before responding, “In half an hour.”

“Alright, Oxon this expedition will be full of risks, so make sure everything is in order.”

The burly man snorted and was going to retort when he suddenly saw a dense cloud of mist heading their way.

The burly man pulled out his sword from his back and yelled, “Enemy Attack!”

“On defensive positions fast!”

Soon the cloud of mist enveloped the whole encampment. The mist was thick and they could barely see ahead.

Meanwhile, Ena and Mars were currently gliding in the air. Ena had wind attribute path gem. Although she couldn’t fly, she could glide for awhile. They had found the encampment a few days ago, but hadn’t made a move yet because they were trying to figure out the best way to attack.

Since Louis had a water attribute path gem, Mars thought of using the same method Aila and the princes used to ambush him two months ago. Ena and Mars had picked a high point in the mountain to start gliding towards the Burly man who was standing in the middle of the camp. They had to take out as many strong opponents as soon as possible.

Currently they were about to fly above the burly man and the red clothed man. “Alright drop me here!” Mars signaled Ena.

“Alright, be careful!”

The burly man who was on full alert suddenly felt a deep sense of crisis and quickly grabbed his great sword to block up!

“Too late!”

Clank!

Zap!

Mars sword which was covered in lightning pierced through the body of the giant sword and stabbed right into the burly man’s forehead.

A rank 3 died just like that!

His power level was higher than the burly man to begin with, adding the fact that Mars had gathered a lot of momentum and the burly man had no time to gather enough power to defend He was killed instantly.

Mars quickly used his movement art and appeared before the red clothed man who was also a rank 3. Mars attacked with a swing of his sword, however the red clothed man had enough time to infuse his weapon with wind attribute and managed to block the attack.

However the attack was very strong and the red clothed man couldn’t help but take a step back. “Who are you! Why are you attacking us!”

“A dead man needs no answers!” Mars took a step forward but this time his step was infused with electricity.

Zap!

Lightning arcs travelled through the ground and reached the red clothed man, paralyzing him for a second.

Mars took this chance to swing his sword once more.

“Nooo!”

Splash!

A head flew up in the air.
