The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 20

The path gem on Mars’ chest shattered into dust and a fierce aura gushed out. The Lynxes who owned the lightning attribute felt a strong pressure which left shaking in fear. In the end they decided to prostrate before this pressure. This pressure came from deep within their souls, they were birthed from lightning, they could only go along with it, not against it. The members of Battlecrest could feel a strong aura coming out from Mars as well, but the effect on them was different from the lynxes, they just looked at him with surprised expressions.

The only thing that remained on Mars’ chest was a small hole and a blue particle. It’s appearance was similar to a star made of concentrated lightning. This thing was called nucleus and it was the physical manifestation of his own path!

The blue particle trembled and started to absorb all the lightning attribute energy within the area. The worldly energy in the Lightning Valley was mostly of lightning attribute which made the process fast and convenient.

After his path gem shattered Mars felt dizzy but still managed to remain conscious. He made some hand gestures and sent the dust remnants of his old path gem towards Ena who was trembling within his embrace.

Ena immediately activated her own path gem which was located in her shoulder. Different from Mars’ path gem, hers was silvery white. She focused on absorbing the incoming remnants into her own path gem. These remnants were made of the purest energy within Mars’ body and since they were close to Mars’ nucleus, part of his own knowledge about his path was etched deep within these remnants.

Ena felt her sight blurry and her consciousness was thrown into a different space. Inside this place she felt calm and free. Soft winds were blowing and there was a sphere of wind attribute energy in the middle of this space, this sphere was her nucleus. . ‘This is inside my path gem?’

When she was a kid she often liked playing on the green fields outside the castle. Feeling the breeze as she sat on a hill. Feeling the wind on her face as she ran and played with her sister. She always liked the feeling of wind. Maybe that’s the reason she awakened a wind attribute path gem. Unfortunately, obtaining enlightenment from such weak winds resulted in her path gem being weak. She only had a two-star path. So her progress had always been slow.

Soon she was startled awake from her thoughts by sudden roars of thunder. ‘Um?’ She curiously looked around and could see arcs of lightning suddenly invading this area.

“AH!” She placed her arms on her head as she felt a head splitting headache. ‘Is this the pain Mars mentioned?’ Even in her pain she could still think a bit.

The nature of the space was quickly changing. At first the winds tried to fight back against the arcs of lightning, however they were far weaker in power level and star-rank, they couldn’t fight back. Luckily these arcs of lightning had no hostile intent, otherwise this whole space would be instantly destroyed.

The arcs of lightning kept moving in mysterious patterns. They were etching their own mysteries into this place! The calm and soft winds turned fiercer and more violent. The lightning seemed to be changing their nature.

The gusts of wind soon turned gray and small arcs of electricity started to accompany them. As Ena witnessed these changes she was completely shocked! She could clearly feel the very nature of her power begin to change and strengthen in an unbelievable way!

Soon her own nucleus started to change its own nature. Her own power level which had long reach the limit of what star-1 paths were capable of… started to increase past that limit!

Her power level kept increasing until it reached 55! However she could clearly tell that she was still at rank one! This meant the rank of her own star path had increased! Mars was not only trying to help her breakthrough, he was trying to increase her own star path as well! She was so shocked, she knew Mars owned a 7-star path of legend but she never imagined he would be able to change the nature of her own path with his own.

‘Mars Thank you’ She was deeply moved by what was happening and couldn’t help but fall in love with Mars even more. However she was still very worried, she did not know how this process will affect her beloved.

Meanwhile Mars was summoning more and more lightning from the clouds. He could feel he was missing a lot of energy to reform his own path gem. If he took too long, he might even die due to the failure of reforming his path gem.

He had found a technique to change the nature of other people’s path gems within his memories, however he was too weak to use such skill. In the end he thought about this method, but it seemed as he still overestimated his own abilities. He was currently transforming Ena’s path gem and reforming his own. These two tasks required incredible concentration and he couldn’t mess up! The burden in his mind had already gone past his limits. Luckily the continuous stream of lightning energy nourished his mind continuously. Due to this continuous process, Mars felt his mind growing stronger at a very fast pace.

Soon Mars heard something shatter. He could tell it was Ena’s path gem. ‘Good! Now it’s up to her! I can concentrate on my own path gem now”

Boom!

More lightning strikes fell on him and he started to quickly replenishing the lost energy from the shattered path gem. Mars could feel his own energy increasing as well, 800, 900, 1000, 1200.

After a few minutes, the dense energy started to crystallize and form a new path gem. 1250, 1300, 1350 and then 1400. Finally his own energy crystallized into a new path gem. The aura from his nucleus was then quickly concealed and the lightning bolts in the sky seemed to calm down and quickly return to normal.

As he had a seven-star path, he would possess a power level of 1400 as soon as he became a rank 3 being.

With a satisfied smile Mars turned to look at Ena who was in the process of reforming her path gem and achieve rank 2.

Ena had her eyes closed and had a small and cute frown on her face. Her body was far weaker than than Mars, so for her to bear part of his lightning attribute her body had to strengthen several times in a short moment. However Mars had taken care of this process while he guided his own power through her.

After a few minutes she took a deep breath and her own path gem quickly reformed. The energy Mars had given her was more than enough for her to achieve breakthrough.

After she broke through she could feel her power level was at 110. ‘Is this a half six-star path?’ She was amazed at her own strength which had increased by more than five times so rapidly.

She curiously waved her hands and gales of wind and lightning circled around her body. Her breathing hastened and her wide eyes started to shine. ‘From now on I walk ‘The Path of Storms!”.

“Congratulations Ena!” Mars curiously looked at her new abilities and congratulated her.

“Maaars!” She moved to hug him but refrained from doing so once she felt the gazes of the people around fall on her. She blushed a bit but still threw an infatuated look at Mars.

Mars smiled calmly and prepared to deal with these Lynxes. Now that he had achieved rank 3 he had also achieved harmony with his own attribute in the surroundings. This meant that his strength would be far greater in areas full of lightning attribute. Through the use of his own secret arts, he was confident he could even defeat rank 4 beings with a power level of 3000.

‘However, this was only in this place. If I were to fight someone under neutral circumstances, then I would probably struggle with opponents with a power level of 2000’ If someone else heard his thought they would probably slap him. Who would be able to fight a rank 4 being as soon as they reach rank 3?

However just as he prepared to fight he felt everyone was staring him with curious gazes. Mars was also startled. ‘Aren’t these guys supposed to be fighting these Lynxes? This is supposed to be a life and death struggle you know! How can you get distracted like that?’

He frowned for a bit before asking, “Brother Eanred, the Lynxes?”

“Uh well, they suddenly surrendered.” He looked at Mars with an expression full of awe. He couldn’t help but think of himself as bright and foresighted when he remembered how friendly and nice he was when he met this guy.

“Su surrendered?” Mars stared at him with wide eyes and looked outside of the encirclement. The Lynxes which were baring their fangs previously were sitting down with their heads bowed. Occasionally they would look at him with reverence. They had the appearance of cute and friendly house cats…

“…”

“…”

Mars was left speechless for awhile. The reason he rushed his breakthrough was to fight these bunch of cats. Now that he was ready to fight, they surrendered?
