The Nine Lords Of Order - Chapter 24
Electric disruption was one of the strongest techniques Mars could currently use. Most living creatures posses cells which are specialized in conducting electrical currents. Electricity is required for the nervous system to send signals throughout the body and to the brain, making it possible for living creatures to move, think and feel. Usually this technique could mess around with the electrical currents of enemies and induce paralysis.
However the Elemental was completely formed from electricity! This caused the might of this technique to magnify several hundred times. The Electric disruption technique did not only mess with this thing’s ‘nervous system’, it messed with the Elemental’s very existence!
Although it was far from being enough to kill it. It would take several hours for this elemental to reform its body again. Once it did, it would quickly regain its strength and look for Mars and company to get revenge.
Ena quickly took Mars and the Lynx to a safer area. However before she could get to far she heard Mars weak voice. “Head… towards the red lightning Once that thing wakes up It will not look for us in that direction probably….”
Ena hesitated for a second before rushing towards the red lightning area. At this point she was very nervous. If they were to find more powerful enemies, they would instantly be destroyed. Ena was too weak to resist even the weakest rank 3 creatures. Not to mention this area was infested with rank 5 beings.
Bang!
The lightning which fell from above was much easier to absorb since they were ownerless. Mars rapidly absorbed as many lightning strikes as possible and began to slowly recover. However, the lightning attribute wasn’t very good in healing, it would take several days for Mars to completely recover.
After several hours of escaping, Ena managed to find a small cave. Tiredly she placed the unconscious Lynx on the floor and sat on a rock while holding Mars in her embrace. Although he had the support of lightning, his wounds were still serious. After a few hours of traveling, he had trouble staying awake and lost consciousness as well.
Ena carefully removed Mars’ clothes and carefully cleaned his wounds. After applying some medicine and bandaging his body, she took a deep sigh. How long has it been since she left the palace? A few months? In the blink of an eye she was deep into the Lightning Valley, one of the biggest danger zones within the whole continent.
She wondered where would Mars take her in the future. She had previously thought she would have to stay within the kingdom for the rest of her life unable to explore this vast world.
When she was younger, everytime she went outside the castle she would always gaze at the mountains in the distance. She was very curious by nature and always wondered what lay beyond those mountains. Unfortunately she was a princess, she had a tight schedule and many responsibilities.
Years later, Mars suddenly appeared in her life. At first she was only curious about him. However when she saw the look in Mars eyes as he gazed the mountains in the distance, she could tell there was a special glimmer within that gaze. She could tell there was yearning for adventure deep within those eyes. Maybe it was at that point she fell in love with him
Although she often complained of how uncomfortable traveling was, deep down she enjoyed every second.
Rumble, Rumble.
More lightning strikes streaked across the clouds. ‘Although this place is quite scary, it is quite beautiful as well’
Soon the sky became darker and low with ominous black clouds and the wind picked up, howling, crying, warning, baying like a wolf into the night. More cracks of lightning rent the air and within seconds the rolling boom of the thunder reverberated overhead. Soon the rain fell, slow to start, splattering the rocks haphazardly. Then it fell as if from buckets, cascading like a waterfall from the heavens. It pounded on top of the cave as if it were demanding entrance.
‘Maybe it’s more scary than beautiful’
Sighing she caressed Mars’ handsome face. Seeing her beloved in such a sorry state pained her heart. While she was holding Mars other thoughts invaded her mind. She looked around like a thief and blushed a little. Taking a deep breath she placed her soft lips on Mars’…
They stayed within the cave for a couple of days. Mars’ wounds had not healed yet, maybe just around 70%. If he were to fight now, he would be able to use most of his strength though, however his injuries might worsen resulting in him not being able to battle for very long.
Although lightning wasn’t too good in healing, it was extremely good for combat. With lightning he could suppress his wounds as much as possible. Although fighting in this state would worsen his injuries, it would offer him a chance to keep fighting even in the worst of conditions.
Previously, he did not bother suppressing his wounds because there was no point in continuing the fight against the elemental. He was too weak to defeat that thing.
Thinking about that creature, he hoped it had already forgotten about them.
The Lynx had already woken up but his wounds were a lot more serious than Mars’. After all, he had tackled the last barrage of attacks from the elemental.
“Listen, I have to do something, alright? You can’t move yet so you’ll stay here. Once we’re done, we’ll come back for you!” Mars thought for awhile before speaking again. “Calling you cat or Lynx is too inconvenient, so I’ve decided to give you a name. From now you are Meowth!”
‘Meowth?’ The Lynx who was laying weakly on the floor had his whiskers shiver in anger. With a sudden hiss it showed up his sharp teeth in discontent.
Mars was surprised. “It’s not a bad name is it? You go meow every now and then, meowth is good for you!”
Hiss! ‘Fudge! Chose a cool name alright!?’ The Lynx was more displeased than ever.
Ena giggled a bit, “Mars, I think you should give him a more manly name. How about Persian?”
The Lynx looked thoughtful for a bit before nodding his head.
“Persian it is then” Although Mars a bit displeased that the name he proposed was dismissed, he still agreed with Ena’s choice.
A few minutes later Mars and Ena finally set off towards their destination. As they got closer to the red lightning area they would often hear rebertebrating howls and cries in the distance. Any normal person would get chicken skin just from hearing them. Mars and Ena recognized these howls and cries belonged to Elementals. Not just a few at that…
Mars was starting to hesitate if he should continue or not. He could tell there were countless Elementals ahead. If they got found again, they wouldn’t get so lucky and would soon be killed.
The only reason he continued was because it would just be harder to create his second powersource in the future. If he decided to back off now because of fear, he might regret it later.
Mars looked at Ena who was holding his hand and couldn’t help but worry. When he brought her here he was only thinking about how great their future would be if they managed to complete the ‘overcharge’ technique. If they were successful, they would forever be invincible against opponents of the same level.
Their traveling speed kept getting slower and slower. There were several times where they were almost discovered by wandering elementals or powerful demon beasts. What caught Mars’ curiosity was that the Elementals did not attack the demon beasts which lived around this place.
Remembering how the previous elemental was hostile towards Persian as well, Mars soon made a theory. The demon beasts in this area could also control red lightning. Therefor their aura was slightly similar to those elementals. ‘The elementals will not attack creatures with a similar aura If I’m not mistaken, once we use the red lightning to condense our second power source, we will own the red lightning aura and the elementals might not target us as enemies….’
However this was just a theory he made on the spot. He wasn’t sure if it was correct or not.
By the time they reached the red lightning area Mars had already completely healed from his wounds.
Crackle!
A red lightning suddenly fell on them. Mars just waved his hand and tried to absorb this lightning. Bang, however the power of this lightning was several times greater and he felt his body go stiff.
“As expected, this is on a different level The energy is similar to full force attack from a peak rank four being. The only reason we can use it, is because we are lightning users and our resistance to lightning is far greater If it was a normal person, they would soon die in this place even if they were rank 5 beings.”
“Ena, it would take us several hours to form our second power source so we need to find an isolated area” Turning his head Mars explained his thoughts to Ena.
“Um!”
However this search wasn’t as easy as they initially thought. Although there was a reduced amount of demon beast roaming around this area, the number of elementals was terrifying.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
At some point they felt the floor tremble and they slightly lost their balance.
“An earthquake?” Ena wondered.
Mars was about to retort when he suddenly saw an enormous humanoid figure slowly moving in the distance… What left his mind reling was that this figure seemed to be several kilometers away and its height was on par with mountains!
The creature possessed a huge majestic body and red arcs of lightning came out from within its eyes, mouth and joints. What was more impressive was that every time this creature took a step, the whole land would shake! Even several kilometers away, Mars and Ena could clearly feel themselves losing balance with each quake.
“Mars Is that” Ena had her eyes widen and the felt her mind go blank.
Mars thought for awhile before responding, “That’s probably a golem one which is as tall as a mountain and can control lightning Golem’s strength can be determined by their size, I’m not sure how strong that golem is but he’s probably above rank 7!” After saying this Mars took a deep breath. ‘This place is too dangerous!’
Ena felt dismayed as soon as she heard the words ‘rank 7’. That creature had the power to destroy her kingdom within seconds! Fortunately this giant golem was several kilometers away.
Mars felt his previous arrogance had taken a huge hit. As the saying went ‘there are mountains beyond mountains’ and today he literality met something which was actually bigger than a mountain
Fortunately after several days of searching, they finally found the ideal place to practice the ‘overcharge’ technique.
